Vampire Knight
Note - I usually give the anime and manga the same rating, but for this story, I honestly have to give them different ratings.
Anime rating - 6.5/10
Manga rating - 9/10
Summary -
Yuuki Cross' earliest memory is of being attacked by a bad, scary vampire, but then being saved by Kaname Kuran, her idol.
Ten years later, Yuki and vampire hunter named Zero attend as school guardians protecting the "Day class" of human students from the "Night class" of vampires. Yuki is an orphaned child, raised by the headmaster of the school. Yuki is always curious about her past, as she holds no memory of her parents or of the place she came from. The story follows Yuki's discovery that her childhood friend, Zero, is more than what he seems, and that he's in a lot of danger.
She also later figures out that she lost her memories for a reason, as her past is too much for a child like her to bear...
What I liked -
- I like the surprises and unexpected moments.
- The stories' layers were flawless and exciting, and certain parts were humorous as well.
- The scary music was MEGA cool...
- MANGA ONLY - The manga ending is probably one of the BEST endings to any anime that I've ever seen. It's so bittersweet, ending in a way that makes you feel oddly content. A true masterpiece.
What I didn't like -
- Yuuki's attitude/ personality - At the beginning of the story, she is tough, sweet, and overall has a good personality. But later on in the story, she acts weaker and more annoying. She honestly reminds me of the personality of Sakura from the anime Naruto. (Hey, hey, HEY! Don't come after me, I don't fully hate Sakura. It's a long explanation, I'll explain in a later chapter...)
- THE ENDING IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT IN THE ANIME AND IN THE MANGA. Sure, usually the story changes a bit, especially between the anime and manga, but this story was COMPLETELY FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN IN THE ANIME. I mean, I don't want to spoil anything, but in one version, *****and **** are sworn to be enemies forever and they hate each other at the end and in another version, they have KIDS together and they still have feelings for one another. I mean, how does that work? So many characters that stayed alive in the anime died in the manga. However, honestly speaking, I like the manga ending better. It's more... bittersweet.
Author's note - Hey!
1k views are coming near, and I was wondering if y'all would be willing to do Writing Competitions in this book club. Some competitions may include you writing a short fanfiction or re-writing a scene in an anime. I may even do a competition in which you need to describe characters or maybe even draw manga- like figures. I was also thinking of doing "guess that anime character" competitions as well.
I don't know what to do for prizes, so you may recommend some below.
If you think that you would be interested, then comment below to let me know. If you know anybody that would be interested, tag them below so that they see this. Thanks, guys!
