Ranma 1/2

Fun fact - The person who did the voice for Shampoo in Ranma 1/2 also did the voice acting for the character Near in Death Note. This is pretty shocking, considering how different they sound.

Again, the manga and anime deserve different ratings -

Anime - 7/10

Manga - 8.5/10

Summary -

Ranma Saotome is a top-class martial artist at the Saotome "Anything-Goes" school of martial arts. However, while training in China, he and his father had a training accident and fell into a cursed spring. Now, Ranma is cursed to turn into a girl when splashed with cold water, and only hot water can turn him back into a boy. Things take a turn for the worse when Ranma discovers that his father has arranged for him to marry one of Soun Tendo's three daughters in order to secure the future of the Tendo dojo.

Although Soun realizes that Ranma is now technically half girl, he is still determined to go ahead with the engagement and they decide on his youngest daughter Akane, who happens to be a skilled martial artist herself, but is also known for hating boys. Both Ranma and Akane despise each other, but as the series goes on, they realize that they may just be perfect for each other.

Ranma ½ is about the amusing adventures of Ranma and Akane as they meet new enemies, find new love interests, and constantly annoy each other, all while their engagement hangs over their head.

What I liked -

 - This anime is by Rumiko Takahashi, who is probably one of my FAVORITE manga artists of all time.

 -  The plot and storyline - One thing I like about this anime is that the plot is funny and serious at the same time, and the characters are super-loveable. The storyline isn't cliche and I really like the way the plot goes, despite the holes in it.

 - Realistic characterization

 - THE COMEDY

 - All of the frigging ships and love triangles - Ranma 1/2 is one of those anime's where people ship Ranma with at least 10 other characters in the entire anime. In terms of shipping, this story is a lot like Naruto. In both of these anime's people have the WEIRDEST shipping pairs, due to all of the characters that seem to be compatible with each other. Although many people dislike it when anime's like this are made, I personally LIVE for shipping wars. Who do you ship in Ranma 1/2? Can't wait to fight you/ support you. XD

- This anime hits close to home for me, being a martial artist. This anime gives out demonstrations of kung- fu, karate, a bit of taekwondo, and much more. It even has a bunch of things in it that only martial arts would understand, making this one of my favorite anime's, despite its plot holes.

What I didn't like -

 - The lagging story - After the third season, the story kind of stops moving. The series is just full of filler episodes, with no real meaning. After the third season, only four episodes actually have some sort of character development. (Out of the 120 episodes left.)

 - Disappointing anime ending - the anime ends with no real improvement from the first episode, and still leaves the viewer with many, many questions and loose ends. The manga is better though, and although the manga ending isn't totally amazing, it does answer a few questions that weren't answered in the anime. (This is the reason why the manga is rated higher than the anime in this review.)

So what do you like about Ranma 1/2? Comment below. Don't forget about shipping wars!
