Fen (Edited)

Note: This is a strictly dragon age fic idea, however, I am open to adding in Baldru's Gate 3 as I am currently obsessed with it. This also does have similar aspects to my Druidic Heart story, specifically around Fenris.

This is a Solas story, so if BG3 is added I will add Astarion to the pairing and make adjustments to Fen herself to integrate the game a bit more. If this is something you want to see, then let me know what you would like adjusted, or any ideas you have in general.

Perhaps the Fenor and Lavellan elves are drow, just to add to their worship of the Dread Wolf being considered 'evil'.

......

Birth Name: Fen'gra'lin Fenor

Adopted Name: Fen Hawke

Title: Warden-Acolyte. Warden.

Warden-Commander (Formerly)

Veteran of the Fifth Blight

Also known as: The Red Wolf

- Wolf Twins (With Fenris)

Born: 9:14 Dragon

Age: 27/28 (Inquisition (9:41 - 9:42)) 30 (Trespasser (9:44)) 38 (Veilguard (9:52))

- DA2's timeline was slightly different, to make some things make more sense. Instead of Hawke going through 1 year of servitude, it will be 2 giving Anders actual time to go through Awakenings and get to Kirkwall. (Hawke arrives in Kirkwall in 9:30, the Blight ends in 9:31, and Awakenings takes place probably a couple of weeks after the ceremony and lasts a few months, so there is no time for Anders to get to Kirkwall and make a name for himself as a healer)
- Each act will take a year from start to the end event.

- 9:30 - 9:40 is the timeframe for the entirety of Dragon Age II.

- Prologue takes place in 9:30, Act I takes place 9:32 - 9:33, Act II takes place 9:36 - 9:37, Act III takes place 9:39 - 9:40.

Species: Elf

Note: I like the idea that there is a human-elf thing among them all and it is only Fen that struggles with it, because she thinks that it is the norm, so she falls for humans and then it never works out for her, but it does for everyone else around her.

Bio:

Fen'gra'lin was born in 9:14 Dragon to Keeper Shalelan and Hunter Adhlea of the Fenor clan of Dalish elves whilst the clan was settled in the Bannorn of Ferelden. Through her parents, she has an older brother, Laisal.

The Fenor clan was known to be an outsider clan to even their Dalish brothers and sisters as they chose to follow and worship Fen'Harel.

When Fen'gra'lin was six years old, the Fenor clan was attacked on the orders of a Bann of the Bannorn who disliked them being on his land. Many of the elves were captured and sold into slavery, being sent to Tevinter, including Laisal. Those that were not captured were slaughtered, including Shalelan and Adhlea.

Fen'gra'lin was dragged from the fight by both her and Laisal's direwolves on Laisal's orders for protection and hid in a nearby woodland until long after the sounds of screaming died down. When she finally returned to her clan, she found that her mother and father had been killed along with a lot of her clan.

Note: Though it will be discovered that some of the Fenor clan survived and were integrated into the Lavellan clan, a sister clan that also worshipped the Dread Wolf. Leading to the possibility that Fen is related to Alin and Virfen

It was here that she was found by Malcolm, Gwen and Marcus Hawke who had been seeking a place outside of a small village near Amarantine to teach the twins magic. Feeling for the young girl, Malcolm picked her up and took her home with him, Gwen, and Marcus, along with the two giant wolves.

Leandra and Malcolm instantly agreed to welcome Fen'gra'lin into their family and their home, though they shortened her name to make things easier for them, and their children, to understand.

Alongside Marcus and Gwen, Malcolm and Leandra had twin children, Bethany and Carver.

The family was forced to move a number of times throughout Fen'gra'lin's life, more so after Bethany and Fen'gra'lin developed magic meaning that there were five apostates living in the family. This was to protect them from Templars that might remove them and take them to a circle.

Eventually, the family moved to Lothering and found a quiet and simple life where Marcus, Gwen, Fen'gra'lin and Bethany could be safe among a small, insignificant, Templar presence.

The family lived there until the Blight destroyed Lothering.

Fen'gra'lin struggled as an outsider in the Hawke family, despite how much she loved them and how much they loved her. She understood that she was not the same as them and the people outside of the family would treat her differently for being an elf. In her early teen years, Fen'gra'lin was assaulted by a group of teenage boys in the village who attacked her simply for being an elf, she was seriously injured before Marcus came to her rescue. This left her with a scar across her lips and an understandable fear of humans, however, this would lessen in her years with the Grey Wardens.

When Fen'gra'lin was fourteen, she met a Grey Warden in the local tavern as he was passing through town. Duncan patiently sat and answered her questions regarding the Wardens.

Malcolm forbade her from joining the order, given his own previous experiences with them, but Fen'gra'lin was determined. That night, whilst everyone else was asleep, she packed a bag and left.

Not far out of Lothering, she joined Duncan as he was leaving, and told him that she wanted to be a Warden. He asked her how old she was, and she lied, telling him that she was sixteen. He attempted to argue her out of it, but she had already made up her mind. He tried again by asking what her parents thought about this. She lied, and told him that her parents had allowed her to leave, encouraging her to do this.

Fen'gra'lin later went through her Joining, the youngest to ever partake in the ritual, surviving and has been an active member of the order for the last two years, often accompanying Duncan but in recent months, she has been undertaking more solo missions for the Order.

Duncan, at some point and somehow, discovered Fen's real age, and whilst it couldn't be undone, he scolded her appropriately and placed her on 'leave' until he had calmed down enough to allow her back to 'active duties'.

After leaving with Duncan, Fen had no contact with her family, until she received a letter from Marcus informing her of their father's death.

At only 16 years old, Fen'gra'lin was involved in the Fifth Blight, fighting alongside Alistair and Alin Lavellan.

Following the defeat of the Archdemon, Fen'gra'lin was named the Warden-Commander as the senior surviving Warden of Ferelden.

As Warden-Commander, Fen decides to protect the Vigil, their victory during the siege becomes one of the most important and famous military victories in the history of the Grey Warden Order. During this time, Fen also invested in silverite armour for the Vigil's soldiers; they eventually came to be known as the Silver Order. Under the tutelage of the Wardens, the Silver Order developed into one of Ferelden's most revered military forces, a lasting memory of the Vigil's famous commander.

As her Warden companions are reassigned, Fen is left with only Oghren and Velanna remaining at the keep with her whilst the others moved on.

A year later, she hears of Anders abandoning the Order and goes off in search of him.

She would be reunited with Anders, as well as her family, in Kirkwall, where she remained for the next 8 years.

After Anders' actions in Kirkwall, Fen was called to Weisshaupt to explain what happened.

What happens to her in the following year is unknown, save that she somehow ends up at the Temple of Sacred Ashes where she is one of two survivors in an attack that kills everyone else.

Fen will be found wandering through the valley with no memories of who she is or what she was doing there. Her memories will soon return to her, however, she still fails to remember what happened after she arrived at Weisshaupt a year before the Conclave.

Unlike the Herald of Andraste, Fen has no lasting legacy of the events at the Conclave.

Trivia:

- Fen'gra'lin has a spiral birthmark on the inside of her right wrist (It's hard to see on Fenris because of the Lyrium tattoos but he has one too)

- Varania is not Fenris' real sister, with his memories gone they lied to him to get him to toe the line, she eventually admitted this, and admitted that he did actually have a sister, and that she is known as 'The Red Wolf' which led him to his friend, Fen.

- Children of the Keeper of the Fenor Clan were often gifted direwolf pups at a young age, strengthening the clans connection with the animals and Fen'Harel

- Direwolves are larger than normal wolves native to the Frostback Basin.

- Fenor clan were worshippers of Fen'Harel.

Personality:

Fen'gra'lin is a very kind, loving, compassionate, and strong-willed person, who, while initially somewhat naive, has become all the wiser through her time with the Grey Wardens. An outspoken egalitarian, she fights for what she believes in and generally for the betterment of others through love and mutual understanding, as taught to her by her mother and father. Whilst a strong mage and warrior, she would rather settle issues with diplomacy and words rather than violence if able.

Fen'gra'lin's studies were firmly in magical theory, mostly because she remained at home and not in a circle, keeping her magic a secret from those outside of her family home. Because of this, her magic developed differently, relying on theory rather than practical application. After joining the Grey Wardens, Fen'gra'lin developed a more practical magical skill especially in the elemental tree and later picked up specialisations in Arcane Warrior, Battlemage and Force Mage making her deadly on the battlefield.

In addition to her general willingness for empathy, however, Fen'gra'lin is also extremely friendly and can step back and enjoy the smaller moments in life forging strong connections with people, as seen with her lasting friendships with those she has come across over the last eleven years.

Even alongside all of her kindness, compassion, and empathy, when someone she cares about is hurt, she becomes far more relentless and ruthless.

Outside of battle, however, Fen'gra'lin can also react indignantly and negatively towards people who disrespect her, her family, the Wardens or those that she cares about.

She also has a great distaste for slavery and those that use their power and influence to beat down on those they consider beneath them.

Fen'gra'lin also remains ruthless when facing enemies in battle and she even shows signs of enjoying a good battle when they put up a good fight.

She is proud to be a Grey Warden, though after the Fifth Blight this will be tempered.

Physical Appearance:

Fen'gra'lin is famous for her beauty, even from a young age. Fen'gra'lin has locks of long red hair fragrant with elfroot and clove perfume, often worn in a semi-ponytail. Her face is very pale, triangular in shape with a slightly receded chin. Her eyes are cold and sparkling with a remarkable green penetrating gaze, in anger blazing with livid, green-grey fire. Those very eyes also conceal wisdom and imperiousness. Her nose is slightly long, her mouth is pale with thin and slightly crooked, soft, sweet with lipstick, proud lips. On her long and slender neck hangs a black chain with a wolf's head made of obsidian sparkling with a multitude of tiny greenstones embedded in it.

She always dresses in green and siler. Her voice is resonant and mildly derisive. Her overall feminine shape is one of an eighteen-year-old girl and she moves with a natural, unforced grace.

Fen'gra'lin has one main outfit, her Grey Warden armour, however she has retired this a number of times throughout her career. Firstly, upon arriving to Kirkwall, and then after the Conclave explosion. And replaced it with a green and silver armour.

Magic and Abilities:

- Magic:

Fen'gra'lin is a very gifted and talented mage having spent years learning from Malcolm.

- Due to her upbringing and her studies, Fen'gra'lin has a number of unique magical talents on top of being a Primal Mage, specialising in fire.

- Her magic has a green energy to it, similar to the green glow of the Fade, even when casting fire or lightning spells, these appear green in nature.

- Due to not being raised in a circle, and spending her youth hiding her magic from the outside world, Fen'gra'lin doesn't make use of a staff. She can make simple gestures with her hands to cast.

- She can shape and manipulate this magic for different effects, such as forming tangible constructs of energy or cast spells. For everyday tasks or battles.

- Her magic seems to react as an extension of Fen'gra'lin, more so than other mages and magic, likely because of her upbringing and the lack of the Chantry's teachings.

- Fen'gra'lin herself claims that other than Malcolm, a Spirit of Wisdom also taught her how to use her magic. She has also picked up and learnt spells from those around her, including Morrigan, Wynne, Velanna, Anders, and Merrill.

Primal:

Primal spells allow mages to harness the power of the elements, mostly to deal damage to their enemies. Fen'gra'lin tends to focus on fire, given that it is a weakness for darkspawn but she is skilled in each element.

- Fireball: Unleash a bolt of flame that explodes, scattering and scorching foes.

- Flashfire: Ignite an enemy in searing pain and send them fleeing in panic.

- Firestorm: A devastating shower of flame that blasts down on the target area.

- Immolate: Unleash a massive explosion, leaving enemies in the area burning in agony.

- Fire Mine: Mark the ground with a glyph that takes a short time to prime. Once it is ready, it will erupt into flame when a enemy crosses it, damaging and staggering the target.

- Wall of Fire: Conjure a flaming barrier that burns and panics enemies that pass through it.

- Wave of Flame: Wall of Fire begins at the mages location and moves away from them over the duration of the spell.

- Winter's Grasp: Summon a blast of cold that injures and slows a single enemy.

- Cone of Cold: A cone of deadly ice shoots forth from the mage's hands to injure and slow opponents.

- Fade Step: Invisible waves of magic carry the mage forward, blurring ahead a short distance.

- Wall of Ice: Raise a wall of ice to keep enemies at bay.

- Ice Mine: Mark the ground with a glyph that takes a short time to prime. Once it is ready, it will freeze the first target to step on it.

- Blizzard: Summon a freezing blizzard to chill and damage enemies caught in the area.

- Chain Lightning: Unleash a blast of lightning that shocks one target and arcs to nearby others.

- Energy Barrage: Launch a salvo of elemental blasts. This can be broken down into fire, ice, and lightning.

- Lightning Bolt: Summon a bolt of lightning that blasts and paralyzes a single target.

- Static Charge: Sheathe yourself in lightning while casting spells. Enemies that attempt to interrupt the caster with attacks are struck by arcs that leave them paralyzed.

- Static Cage: Trap enemies inside an electricity field that paralyzes those that try to leave.

- Tempest: Magical bolts of lightning stab down into foes across a wide area of the battlefield.

- Stonefist: Hurl a stone projectile that strikes with massive force.

- Petrify: Entomb an enemy in stone, leaving the foe temporarily unable to move.

Other Spells:
Fen'gra'lin has learnt many other spells in her ten years as a Grey Warden, whilst not being specialised in them as she is with Primal spells.

Force Field: Fen'gra'lin has the magical ability to magically produce force fields, harnessing physical force and hard light into barriers and fields, which she can make appear almost anywhere, in any shape, and with any amount of intensity and force. This has made her a powerful ally to those around her.

- Fade Full Shield: Fen'gra'lin can erect a huge green fade shield that protects against physical and magical attacks.

- Fade Personal Shield: Fen'gra'lin can use a smaller version of her shield to block attacks, this takes less energy but only covers her.

- Enhanced Strength: Fen'gra'lin can wrap her knuckles in force fields, so when she punches it feels as if her enemies are being punched by a brick wall. This grants her an enhanced strength strong enough to knock grown men back. This takes a lot of mana and she often uses it as a last resort if an enemy gets close to her.

Telekinesis: Fen'gra'lin has the ability to move objects with her magic.

- Push: Fen'gra'lin can push away foes, this is usually accompanied by a green flash.

- Shock Waves: Fen'gra'lin is capable of creating shock waves to hit her opponents.

Heal: Fen'gra'lin is not a specialised healer, but she can heal in times of need and as a frontline fighter-mage she has found this increasingly useful to have.

Abilities:

Expert Combatant: While Fen'gra'lin is far more interested in magic than the warrior arts, she was still trained to fight by the Grey Wardens. She is a surprisingly formidable fighter in both armed and hand-to-hand combat.

Master swordsman: Fen'gra'lin is highly proficient in swordsmanship and prefers to use her sword in battle alongside her magic.

Knife Mastery: Fen'gra'lin is highly proficient with knives, though she prefers her magic.

Staff Mastery/Stick Fighting: Not only capable of using her staff for wielding her magic, Fen'gra'lin is extremely skilled in using her staff as a melee weapon.

Acrobatics/Free-running: Fen'gra'lin is very manoeuvrable and graceful, able to chase and outrun enemies through various terrains with no wasted effort or time, even scaling buildings and running from rooftop to rooftop with ease. In battle, she is proven very agile and evasive, able to fluidly dodge attacks from multiple directions with coordinated flips, twists, and sharp turns without losing balance.

Hunting/Tracking: Fen'gra'lin is very capable of being able to hunt and track darkspawn.

Belongings:

Necklace: Fen'gra'lin wears a wolf's head necklace that was given to her by Marcus when she was twelve. She treasures this.

Sword: In battle, Fen'gra'lin can be seen using a sword fight. This is a beautifully crafted blade, which was given to her by Duncan after her last sword was destroyed in training.

Knives: Fen'gra'lin has a number of throwing knives hidden in the exterior material of her boots, likely created with her knives in mind. She also has a number on her belt and usually at least two in her sleeves.

Staff: Fen'gra'lin has a staff that usually sits across her back, likely why she wears her blades on her lower back.

Armor: Fen'gra'lin wear armour that resembles her status as a Grey Warden.

- Second Armor: After the Fifth Blight, Fen'gra'lin will wear armour that hides her Grey Warden standing and incorporates more green and silver colours.

Soufeis: Soufeis is Fen's companion direwolf and has sandy fur. She did travel with a second, Sora, that belonged to her brother Laisal, however she returned Sora to Fenris upon realization of their connection.

Pairing: Solas

With past relationships with Alistair and Cullen. I like that her past lies with humans, that her dating humans is part of her struggles with her identity after being raised by humans, and around Solas she finds her elven identity.

Note: I would also like to cure Fen of the taint at some point, so ideas on how you guys think that would happen are welcome. I have been through a lot of fan theories and stuff and I am interested in seeing your take.
