History:
Ayaka Aizawa was born under the name "Ayaka Shimura" to Nao Shimura and Kotaro Shimura, she has a twin brother born Tanko Shumura (Tomura Shigaraki) and had an older sister named Hana Shimura. She lived in a house built by her father for the whole family, including her maternal grandparents Chizuo and Mako.
When Ayaka was a child, she had a fascination with heroes that she shared with her brother, but their father Kotaro, who hated everything to do with heroes, did not tolerate this and would often scold the twins. Their mother and grandparents were always there for them and comforted them when they was sad, even though they hardly dared to oppose Kotaro.
One day, when they were five years old, Ayaka and Tenko were caught pretending to be heroes by their father, so Kotaro took them outside as punishment. Nao begged her husband to not get violent but the twins were left outside alone without food. Kotaro did not allow them to re-enter the house until they apologized for disobeying his rule. When his wife and in-laws ask him if he was not being too hard on them, he replied that they must respect his rule and forget the heroes.
To try to cheer them up, Hana took Tenko and Ayaka to their father's office and there she showed them an old photo of their father when he was a child with his mother. Hana told the twins that their grandmother was a hero, and this revelation made them very happy. Hana tried to support the twins' dream, encouraging them that they can be hero siblings one day.
Later, their tremendously angry father had discovered that his children broken into his office and peeped at the picture of his hero mother Nana. Kotaro demanded to know who was responsible. Scared, Hana broke down into sobs and squealed, saying it was all Tenko's idea. This results in Kotaro beating his son, as his itching got worse. While punishing his son, Kotaro also shamed the heroes for protecting others only to hurt their families, telling his son that the woman in the picture is not his grandmother, but a demon that threw away her own child. Tenko's suffering was watched by his other relatives, who he begged for help but they could only witness it in horror. Ayaka rushed forward to help her brother, only to be shoved back by Kotaro causing her to trip and hit her head against the edge of the coffee table and knocking her unconscious. Nao cradled Ayaka as she witnessed her husband beating her son.
After the beating, Tenko was punished to stay in the backyard. He was crying inconsolably, hugging his dog Mon while he continued anxiously scratching himself. While outside, Tenko confided in the family dog of how he couldn't take anymore of the abuse, and he hated everyone for leaving him to suffer. As he was clutching his dog, Tenko's Decay Quirk activated, causing the dog to crumble in his hands into a pile of blood. Seeing this caused Tenko to freak out in fear, trying to understand what had happened.
Afterwards, Hana came outside to apologize to Tenko for blaming him despite looking at the picture being her idea. Tenko tried to warn his sister of the danger, but the shock he suffered prevented him from speaking. Hana noticed something was wrong with Tenko and approached him but proceeded to run away in horror after seeing their dog's remains. Tenko tried asking for her help but as soon his hands touched Hana, he ended up disintegrating her by accident. Seeing his sister die in front of him further traumatizes Tenko and makes him vomit.
Tenko's grandparents and mother ran outside to see what was happening, being horrified by what they saw. Thinking about how they never did anything to protect him from his father, Tenko feels only hatred for them. This caused that when he touched the ground, everything in the backyard began to decay. Despite his feelings, Tenko still begged them for help. As she starts to crumble away, Nao tried to reach out to him to comfort him, but her body fell apart before she could. Tenko's grandparents also ended up dying.
Kotaro was alerted by the noise and discovered his son's deed. Standing horrified, Kotaro could only stare at the scene while Tenko begged him for help and the area around them is destroyed. Tenko ran to him for help but his scared father would grab a pair of pruning shears, which he then used to slash his son's face. This time, an enraged Tenko charged at his father with full intent to kill him and touched his face; ultimately the spreading decay ended up destroying the entire house. Tenko would relish in ending his father's abuse.
Ayaka was only saved because Tenko realised that his quirk was hurting her and he stopped it, and Ayaka's own newly awakened quirk worked to protect her. Tenko fled the scene leaving Ayaka severely injured by the attack.
In the hours that followed, Ayaka was left in the wreckage of her home, surrounded by what remained of her family and injured enough that she kept drifting in and out of consciousness.
She was later rescued by Shouta Aizawa who had been passing and heard Ayaka crying.
In the back garden, Aizawa found Ayaka sat in the centre of the garden, hurt and crying and surrounded by devastation except for where she was sitting, where there was fresh green grass and flowers blooming around her. Because of this, Ayaka was initially blamed for it.
She was taken to the hospital because of her injuries and fell into a coma. With no family, Aizawa felt like someone had to keep an eye on her so he'd visit her and check on her. The doctors at the hospital seemed amazed by her physical recovery, though made a comment about the flowers that the nurses bring Ayaka were quickly dying.
Over the next three weeks, Aizawa still visited Ayaka, reading to her from various children's books. Tenko would also visit her a few times before he was taken in by All for One. Aizawa would make the connection between Ayaka and the flowers in her room before anyone else, and realised that she had no part in what happened, and instead was simply another victim.
One day when Aizawa visited Ayaka, he found that she was doing much better. Awake from her coma and aware of her environment and the people around her. Though she was silent to it all.
Finding out that Ayaka had no where to go once she was back on her feet, he offered his own home, even surprising himself. But he stuck to his word and officially adopted Ayaka two years later.
Appearance:
Ayaka is a tall, muscular young woman with green skin, green eyes, and green lips. Her past is clear in her appearance, with various scars marking her body from the injuries she sustained at the hands of Tenko.
Personality:
Ayaka is energetic, lively, eccentric, resourceful, and quick-thinking. She prefers to settle problems through fleeing rather than violence, though she is more than willing to resort to violence when she deems it necessary.
Ayaka also gets distracted easily. Usually, it applies to something only she finds fascinating, even disregarding important matters. This is seen more so when Ayaka is close to flowers and plants, as her quirk pulls her towards the source.
Ayaka had a tendency towards self-loathing for bad actions and does feel bad when she hurts people, likely because she remembers what Tenko did to their family and doesn't want to end up like him.
Ayaka shows a great deal of compassion for children, unable to resist helping if one is upset or scared.
Ayaka is quiet, almost silent, to outsiders and strangers, but this is because she is observant. She takes a step back to watch those around her. She credits Aizawa with this, as he taught her it was a good way to get a read on people.
As she opens up to her classmates, Ayaka will show that she is a rather energetic and vibrant young woman despite her history.
Ayaka also holds very little respect for authority figures, and will often mouth off, much to Aizawa's pride and annoyance.
Ayaka is not all talk: not only can she shoot out hilarious and seething comebacks, but she packs a mean punch, and is a very powerful individual.
Ayaka can be very sarcastic and sharp-tongued at times. She always has a smart-ass comment ready whenever someone says something antagonistic to her, and always bites back with a witty insult. She doesn't hesitate to speak her mind, and can be extremely stubborn in her opinions.
Although Ayaka is not necessarily conceited, she is very aware of the fact that she is very beautiful and uses it to her advantage when the need arises.
Quirk:
Life: Ayaka's quirk is called 'life' and this currently manifests through her connection to plants. Ayaka theorises that it is the opposite of Tenko's quirk.
Chlorokinesis: Ayaka can create, shape, and manipulate plants, mainly multicellular organisms, predominantly photosynthetic eukaryotes of the kingdom Plantae, including wood, vines, plants, moss, and parts of the plants, such as leaves, seeds, roots, fruits and flowers. She can cause plants to grow, move/attack or even rise from the soil and "walk", mutate plants by rearranging DNA structure and revive withered or dead plants.
Ayaka can use her quirk for defense and support, cause flowers and other plants to bloom instantaneously, manipulate tree branches to use them as whip-like weapons, control spores and pollen, bring plants back to life and make them sprout seeds/fruits/berries, use plant chemicals to heal people/objects, and/or manipulate their properties for a wide range of effects.
Using the plants as weapons enables Ayaka to grasp and strike continuously with vines and roots, project thorns at a distance, and quickly regenerate the withering weapons at her will. She can grow vines to entangle enemies, and even climb around a target's neck, causing choking, or strike with plants.
Plant Generation: Ayaka can generate plants, including vines, moss, fungi, and parts of the plants, such as leaves, seeds, fruits and flowers, by drawing them from already existing plants.
Plant Growth: Ayaka can influence and accelerate the growth of plants causing flowers and other plants to bloom instantaneously, causing them to mature with supernatural speed, grow to unusual size, and produce in abundance. Ayaka can cause plants to grow from seeds to mature plants in moments, cause them to flower and produce fruits, seeds, etc. outside season, cause a cut plant to grow roots and other similar feats.
Botanical Communication: Ayaka can communicate with all forms of plant-life, including flowers, trees, fruits, vegetables, pollen telepathically, but this can be boosted through physical touch. Plants can tell Ayaka of what happened or what is happening, like helping her track someone from a long distance away, etc.
Plant Attacks: Ayaka can use plant-matter to attacks of various shapes and intensities, either projected, used as a part of melee attacks, etc.
- Applications:
Expanding Plant Bolts: Project plant-matter that expands rapidly on contact with an object.
Formulated Plant Blasts: Release blasts of plant-matter in a form of a creature or object. Ayaka often creates plant-matter wolves or ravens for attack aid or scouting aids.
Hand Blasts: Release plant-matter blasts from hands.
Missile Generation: Create missiles of plant-matter.
Plant Cutting: Use plant matter to cut opponents. Ayaka uses sharp plant-whips for this.
Plant Impale: Use plant matter to impale opponents.
Plant Pillar Projection: Project plant-matter pillars.
Plant Spike Projection: Project plant-matter spikes.
Plant Vortex Creation: Create spiral/vortex of plant-matter.
Plant Wave Emission: Send out a wave of plant-matter that repels everything.
Reflective Attacks: Release attacks of plant-matter that can bounce off of any surface.
Scatter Shot: Release plant-matter blasts that split into multiple fragments.
Sword Beam Emission: Release plant-matter blasts from swords and other such bladed weapons.
Zap: A tiny, short release of plant-matter to cause pain or discomfort, usually too low-powered to be destructive.
Plant Empathy: Ayaka can understand the overall well-being and conditions of plants, as well as fully interpret their emotions.
Healing: Ayaka can heal herself and others by using plants. This was most likely the reason behind her fast recovery following Tenko's attack by using the flowers in her hospital room.
Plant Shield: When Ayaka has been rendered unconscious, her body erupts with a plant shield to protect her from any other damage, this will last until she becomes conscious again. Though it should be noted that this didn't occur after Tenko's attack so some level of awareness might play into it, or it could be something that she has learnt as she has gotten older.
Plant Force-Field Projection: Ayaka can generate telekinetic shields or barriers made out of plant matter to block, contain and impede targets. She can also project such fields as a means of offence, releasing them as waves of concussive force able to damage solid concrete. She is able to create multiple fields for individual people, all the while enacting various other telekinetic feats at the same time.
Pairing:
- I originally considered her unable to be with someone with an overly destructive quirk, given what happened with Shigaraki and her family but it might be a nice hurdle for her to overcome. So I am pretty open to pairing choices and such.
