History:
Ayaka Aizawa was born under the name "Ayaka Shimura" to Nao Shimura and Kotaro Shimura, she has a twin brother born Tanko Shumura (Tomura Shigaraki) and an older sister named Hana Shimura. She lived in a house built by her father for the whole family, including her maternal grandparents Chizuo and Mako.
When Ayaka and Tenko were born, All For One came into their life and stole their original Quirk Factor that they inherited from their parents, making them both Quirkless.
Tenko's birth itself had been orchestrated by All For One, convincing Kotaro to have another child, all with the end goal of turning Tenko into his own vessel with a warped willpower capable of stealing One For All. He was surprised to find that the result had been twins, but still thought to use it to his advantage.
Growing up, both Ayaka and Tenko were both fascinated with Heroes, but Kotaro, who hated everything to do with Heroes, did not tolerate their acts and often scolded them. Their mother and grandparents were always there for them and comforted them when they were sad, even though they hardly dared to oppose Kotaro.
One day, when they were five, Tenko saved Ayaka from being run over by a truck, and All For One, under the guise of a senile old man, offered to walk them borth home. As Tenko held his hand, All For One secretly transferred a new Quirk, Decay, onto Tenko. All For One then touched Ayaka's shoulder and transferred Life onto Ayaka.
Not long after this, Ayaka and Tenko were caught pretending to be heroes by their father, so Kotaro took them outside as punishment. Nao begged her husband to not get violent but the twins were left outside alone without food. Kotaro did not allow them to re-enter the house until they apologized for disobeying his rule. When his wife and in-laws ask him if he was not being too hard on them, he replied that they must respect his rule and forget the heroes.
To try to cheer them up, Hana took Tenko and Ayaka to their father's office and there she showed them an old photo of their father when he was a child with his mother. Hana told the twins that their grandmother was a hero, and this revelation made them very happy. Hana tried to support the twins' dream, encouraging them that they can be hero siblings one day.
Later, their tremendously angry father had discovered that his children broken into his office and peeped at the picture of his hero mother Nana. Kotaro demanded to know who was responsible. Scared, Hana broke down into sobs and squealed, saying it was all Tenko's idea. This results in Kotaro beating his son, as his itching got worse. While punishing his son, Kotaro also shamed the heroes for protecting others only to hurt their families, telling his son that the woman in the picture is not his grandmother, but a demon that threw away her own child. Tenko's suffering was watched by his other relatives, who he begged for help but they could only witness it in horror. Ayaka rushed forward to help her brother, only to be shoved back by Kotaro causing her to trip and hit her head against the edge of the coffee table and knocking her unconscious. Nao cradled Ayaka as she witnessed her husband beating her son.
After the beating, Tenko was punished to stay in the backyard. He was crying inconsolably, hugging his dog Mon while he continued anxiously scratching himself. While outside, Tenko confided in the family dog of how he couldn't take anymore of the abuse, and he hated everyone for leaving him to suffer. As he was clutching his dog, Tenko's Decay Quirk activated, causing the dog to crumble in his hands into a pile of blood. Seeing this caused Tenko to freak out in fear, trying to understand what had happened.
Afterward, Hana came outside to apologize to Tenko for blaming him despite looking at the picture being her idea. Tenko tried to warn his sister of the danger, but the shock he suffered prevented him from speaking. Hana noticed something was wrong with Tenko and approached him but proceeded to run away in horror after seeing their dog's remains. Tenko tried asking for her help but as soon his hands touched Hana, he ended up disintegrating her by accident. Seeing his sister die in front of him further traumatizes Tenko and makes him vomit.
Tenko's grandparents and mother ran outside to see what was happening, being horrified by what they saw. Thinking about how they never did anything to protect him from his father, Tenko feels only hatred for them. This caused that when he touched the ground, everything in the backyard began to decay. Despite his feelings, Tenko still begged them for help. As she starts to crumble away, Nao tried to reach out to him to comfort him, but her body fell apart before she could. Tenko's grandparents also ended up dying.
Kotaro was alerted by the noise and discovered his son's deed. Standing horrified, Kotaro could only stare at the scene while Tenko begged him for help and the area around them is destroyed. Tenko ran to him for help but his scared father would grab a pair of pruning shears, which he then used to slash his son's face. This time, an enraged Tenko charged at his father with full intent to kill him and touched his face; ultimately the spreading decay ended up destroying the entire house. Tenko would relish in ending his father's abuse.
Ayaka was only saved because Tenko realised that his quirk was hurting her and he stopped it, and Ayaka's own newly awakened quirk worked to protect her. Tenko fled the scene leaving Ayaka severely injured from the attack.
In the hours that followed, Ayaka was left in the wreckage of her home, surrounded by what remained of her family and injured enough that she kept drifting in and out of consciousness.
She was later rescued by Shouta Aizawa who was among the first on the scene along with the emergency services.
In the back garden, Aizawa found Ayaka sat in the centre of the garden, hurt and crying and surrounded by devastation except for where she was sitting, where there was fresh green grass and flowers blooming around her. Because of this, Ayaka was initially blamed for it.
She was taken to the hospital because of her injuries and fell into a coma. With no family, Aizawa felt like someone had to keep an eye on her so he'd visit her and check on her. The doctors at the hospital seemed amazed by her physical recovery, though made a comment about the flowers that the nurses bring Ayaka were quickly dying.
Over the next three weeks, Aizawa still visited Ayaka, reading to her from various children's books. Tenko would also visit her a few times before he was taken in by All for One. Aizawa would make the connection between Ayaka and the flowers in her room before anyone else, and realised that she had no part in what happened, and instead was simply another victim who only survived because of her quirk.
One day when Aizawa visited Ayaka, he found that she was doing much better. Awake from her coma and aware of her environment and the people around her. Though she was silent to it all.
Finding out that Ayaka had nowhere to go once she was back on her feet, he offered his own home, even surprising himself. But he stuck to his word and officially adopted Ayaka as his daughter two years later.
Ayaka remained silent for months after going home with Aizawa and it took her some time before she became comfortable, until she felt safe, enough around him to talk. For years after the attack, she was terrified that Tenko would come back for her and hurt her all over again and would often have nightmares about this, causing Aizawa to comfort her through them.
Her teen years are when Ayaka started to become independent of her trauma. With help from therapy and Aizawa's paternal guidance. She started to explore her interests and her quirk, she even attended high school after years of private home-schooling, and started to make future plans to become a hero to stop people using their quirks to hurt people.
Appearance:
Ayaka is a tall, athletic young woman with pale skin, long red hair, green eyes, and pink lips. Her past is clear in her appearance, with various scars marking her body from the injuries she sustained at the hands of Tenko. She has an impressive pair of green wings that sprout from her shoulder blades that are made of chlorophyll.
She is limited to what she can wear because of her wings as these are always on show. She opts for open backed dresses or halter-neck tops with short skirts. She prefers to go bare footed, unless she is forced to wear shoes then she opts for unlaced combat boots. Her jewellery is all floral based, including a bracelet that was given to her by Tenko when she was a child, despite what happened, she still wears this.
Personality and characteristics:
"Ayaka, you are one of the smartest women I have ever known, but you have a blind spot when it comes to your friends....you would thrown yourself to the wolves if you thought it would save us..."
"Why is that a bad thing?" - Tenya and Ayaka.
Ayaka is a very kind, loving, compassionate, and strong-willed person. Growing up, Ayaka also proved herself headstrong and determined to do what she wanted, much to the struggle of Aizawa. She is quite stubborn; if she believes something is the right thing to do, then she will do it.
Alongside all of her kindness, compassion, and empathy, Ayaka is also a warrior at heart, and when someone she cares about is hurt, she becomes far more relentless and ruthless. Outside of battle, however, Ayaka can also react indigently and negatively towards people who disrespect her, Aizawa, or those she cares about. Ayaka also remains ruthless when facing enemies in battle, and she even shows signs of enjoying a good battle when they put up a good fight.
While she is a proud person, she is not above admitting when she has done wrong.
Most of all, Ayaka is a protector at heart and will do whatever she has to do to save the ones she loves, this likely comes from a place of guilt and grief and the belief that she failed to help her family or to save them from Tenko when she was a child.
Deeply intuitive and sentimental, Ayaka can be one of the most challenging individuals to get to know. She is very emotional and sensitive, and cares deeply about matters of family and her home. Ayaka is sympathetic and attached to people she keeps close.
Despite her deep love for her adopted father, she is a lone wolf. Indeed, driven by her dream to prove her courage, she prefers to take on all tasks and risks herself even when those around her are willing to join her. She often wanders away from her home, alone and sometimes for days where she trains by herself before she returns to Aizawa.
On top of being a fierce warrior, Ayaka is cunning and is a great strategist. Considered stubbornly independent, she also claims to not be fond of surprises.
Ayaka had a tendency towards self-loathing for bad actions and does feel bad when she hurts people, likely because she remembers what Tenko did to their family and doesn't want to end up like him.
Ayaka is quiet, almost silent, to outsiders and strangers, but this is because she is deeply observant. She takes a step back to watch those around her. She credits Aizawa with this, as he taught her it was a good way to get a read on people.
Ayaka also holds very little respect for authority figures, and will often mouth off, much to Aizawa's pride and annoyance.
Ayaka doesn't hesitate to speak her mind, and can be extremely stubborn in her opinions.
Although Ayaka is not necessarily conceited, she is very aware of the fact that she is very beautiful and uses it to her advantage when the need arises.
Powers:
Life: Ayaka's quirk is called 'life' and this currently manifests through her connection to plants. Ayaka theorises that it is the opposite of Tenko's quirk.
Chlorophyll Physiology: Ayaka's cells are made up of chlorophyll allowing her to absorb energy from sunlight. This means that her powers are either stronger or weaker based on how much sunlight she has had.
- Note: She also bleeds green blood.
Solar Energy Absorption: Ayaka can absorb solar energies, while removing it from the source, into her body and use it to power her chlorokinesis.
Chlorokinesis: By using the solar energy stored in her cells, Ayaka can cause plants of all kinds to grow at a rapid rate simply by commanding them to do so, and can manipulate and animate them as she wishes.
Ayaka can use her quirk for defence and support, cause flowers and other plants to bloom instantaneously, manipulate tree branches to use them as whip-like weapons, control spores and pollen, bring plants back to life and make them sprout seeds/fruits/berries, use plants to heal herself and other people.
Using the plants as weapons enables Ayaka to grasp and strike continuously with vines and roots, project thorns at a distance, and quickly regenerate the withering weapons at her will. She can grow vines to entangle enemies, and even climb around a target's neck, causing choking, or strike with plants.
- Plant Generation: Ayaka can generate plants, including vines, moss, fungi, and parts of the plants, such as leaves, seeds, fruits and flowers.
- Plant Growth: Ayaka can influence and accelerate the growth of plants causing flowers and other plants to bloom instantaneously, causing them to mature with supernatural speed, grow to unusual size, and produce in abundance. Ayaka can cause plants to grow from seeds to mature plants in moments, cause them to flower and produce fruits, seeds, etc. outside season, cause a cut plant to grow roots and other similar feats.
Botanical Communication: Ayaka can communicate with all forms of plant-life, including flowers, trees, fruits, vegetables, pollen telepathically, but this can be boosted through physical touch. Plants can tell Ayaka of what happened or what is happening, like helping her track someone from a long distance away, etc.
- Plant Empathy: Ayaka can understand the overall well-being and conditions of plants, as well as fully interpret their emotions.
Plant Attacks: Ayaka can use plant-matter to attacks of various shapes and intensities, either projected, used as a part of melee attacks, etc.
Healing: Ayaka can heal herself and others by using plants. This was most likely the reason behind her fast recovery following Tenko's attack by using the flowers in her hospital room. As long as there are plants in her vicinity then she can heal and likely she can heal other people as well, though she has yet to branch out into this.
Plant Shield: When Ayaka has been rendered unconscious, her body erupts with a shield made of roots and vines to protect her from any other damage, this will last until she becomes conscious again. Though it should be noted that this didn't occur after Tenko's attack so some level of awareness might play into it, or it could be something that she has learnt as she has gotten older. The side effect being if she needs serious medical attention whilst unconscious it is difficult to get through the shield to treat her.
Naturally Enhanced Fingernails: Ayaka has near indestructibly strong nails that always seem to be at stuck at the length of 2 cm, in a neat stiletto top. Her nails are made of Chlorophyll and are naturally green. The shade of green usually varies depending on how much sunlight she has had, allowing her to see what her need is by how pale the green is.
Natural Pollen: Ayaka's body secretes pollen from her skin. She does this naturally and it is not something she can currently control. This is a subtle power that influences those around her, making them friendly towards her. People find it difficult to hate her, be angry with her, or hurt her, though not impossible. It is likely because of this that Aizawa took an interest in her, even inviting her to stay with him whilst she recovered with him even surprising himself.
Wings: Ayaka has two large green wings made from chlorophyll that have grown from her shoulder blades. They protect her from rear attacks and can also be drawn around her to protect her front.
Applications:
- Flight: Ayaka can use her wings to fly or otherwise move through the air.
- Gliding: Ayaka can use her wings to glide through air without having to apply thrust.
Abilities:
Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Raised by Aizawa, Ayaka was taught how to fight, this was later expanded on at U.A. She is well-versed in various forms of hand-to-hand combat, melee combat, and long-range attacks using her quirk. She is shown to be very precise and methodical, quickly adjusting her tactics to better suit the situation and type of opponent.
Master Acrobat: Ayaka has immense capability in using flips and spins in a fight and in flight.
Weakness:
Vulnerability to Cold: Because Ayaka's physiology is based on that of a plant, she goes into a sort of protective, dormant state when exposed to frigid temperatures - like plants in the winter. This doubles as a superpower in itself, allowing Ayaka to survive lower temperatures than any normal human.
Vulnerability to Darkness: Ayaka requires substantial amounts of solar energy to live and to power her quirk.
Trivia:
Ayaka uses lime and mandarin soap and has lavender oil for her wings.
Ayaka has a love of cinnamon apple pie and cotton candy
Her favourite flower is the sunflower
Her favourite colour is forest green
Pairing: I did have Todoroki down for Ayaka for the vote posted, but the more I edit this the more I actually like her with Ida.
