"Bye baby," Jason frowned, gently brushing the top of her head, "You'll be okay. It's only four hours."
Alexia laughed, shaking her head.
"I'm going to miss you. Don't worry though, daddy will pick you up first thing when we land. Are you going to miss me? I bet you are." He looked up, his eyes searching for Alexia's. When he met her amused gaze, he took a deep breath. "Fuck, this is so hard Alexia."
"Jase," Alexia wrapped her arm around his shoulders, leaning her head on his rigid side. "Sola will be fine. You act like you've had her for years, it's only been a week and a half."
"You don't get it! Sola is my baby, I can't believe I wasn't allowed to just keep her in my seat on my lap. She's a puppy, what the fuck do they think she's going to do? She sleeps all day!"
"You're lucky they even let her get into the plane at all."
Jason grunted, softly caressing the little pup again. Truth to be told, Jason was not the only one who'd grown a deep liking for the Doberman puppy they found roaming around at the beach one and a half week ago. Everyone was enthralled by Sola. After a widespread check-up on who could be the owner, it turned out that Sola had no owner and would be put to sleep if no one wanted her.
Jason was quick to jump in, claiming he was alone too and it would be useful if he had a companion. Alexia had noticed his instant fondness of the dog and believed he really, really wanted her. Especially after seeing the wounds. He promised Teo that he would take good care of her, train her and make sure that she would never be a nuisance. Teo then agreed, saying that as long as Jason trained the dog well enough, it would not be a problem, even if they were still having Damian-issues.
Which brought them to the next question, what would he name her? When the vet told them he was actually a she, Jason had silently whispered, "I knew it."
Teo was explaining to the vet that they found her all alone in Spanish. Jason had asked Alexia what the last word he said meant, which was sola—alone—and immediately decided on calling her that. She may have been alone before, but she now definitely wasn't.
Sola was three and a half weeks old when they found her and did nothing other than sleep and crawl around for a bit. However, five weeks-old Sola is now full on mobile and getting interactive. She plays with the toys Jason got her, eats her mush and drinks her water. Just like Jason had instantly liked her, Sola is just as attached to him. The vet explained that because she was brought away from her mother at such a young age, and Jason was the first to show her love again, she's seeing him as her new mother.
Alexia thought Jason was going to cry.
Mexico was a blast. Though they didn't get drunk every night, Alexia and Jason fucked all day and were attached to the hip. Everything seemed to be... perfect.
No one wanted to go back to New York, but then again, the hiding would all be over once Alexia spoke to her father, so there were some mixed feelings.
"Come on babe." Alexia chuckled, tugging at his arm. Jason's eyebrows downed on his eyes, slightly pouting. "Bye baby girl." He murmured, kissing Sola on top of her head for the last time.
"I thought I was your baby girl!" Alexia exclaimed, her hand in his as they walked to their gate. Jason snickered, "No, it's Sola."
"Fuck you."
"You can, always." He winked. She rolled her eyes, playfully shoving him.
The walk to their gate was short. Teo and Maya were already there, as they had assumed that Jason saying goodbye to Sola would take a while. They were right.
"It's been forever!" Maya snapped once they arrived. She was seated on Teo's lap and had been grumpy all morning. No one wanted to go back home, but Maya really despised it. Alexia suspected that she was worried about Teo because he'd have to work again.
"I just like it here." Maya shrugged, continuing to comb her blonde hair. Alexia inaudibly agreed, adjusting her dress in front of the mirror. Maya and Alexia were having a girl's night out, away from their possessive and protective boyfriends. They tried going out with their men, they really did. Every time, one of the two would end up punching someone and they'd be forced to leave.
So, with that being said, they decided to go out without Jason and Teo. After all, they'd already established that going out with the four of them was a disaster, and the girls really wanted to dance.
"It's just... no worries, you know?" Maya continued derivatively, smearing a gloss over her lips. Alexia nodded, "I feel you."
They proceeded to do their make-up. "I hate the fact that he's in the business." Maya suddenly exclaimed, forcefully putting her lip gloss down. She turned to Alexia, an unreadable expression on her face.
"You and me both."
"Yeah, but you're used to it. I'm like... Why?"
Alexia thought about that question. Why were her brothers involved in the business? Because of their dad. Why was her dad involved in the business? Their family has been ruling it for like... as long as anyone could remember. Why? She didn't know. Why? Why? Why?
"I don't know why," she mumbled, "but sadly this is just our life. Like you said, I, we, are used to it. You'll get used to it. As long as you stick with Teo, everyone will make sure you're safe."
"That's not what I'm afraid of!" Maya frantically threw her hands in the air. "He'll die! Eventually, this will all come back to bite him in the ass. Everything he's doing for the business. That can't happen. I won't let that happen."
Alexia stared at her, and for the first time in forever, she realized that this woman was truly in love with her brother.
"Then we won't let it happen."
"Mister here took hours to say good bye to his dear dog." Alexia chuckled, taking a seat next to Teo's and Maya's. Jason snorted, crossing his arms in front of his chest. "Jealous?"
"Jealous of a dog? I doubt it, McCann." Yeah, she was jealous.
He smirked, raising his eyebrows as he sat down in front of them. "You forget that I can see right through you, Valdez."
"Oh? And what is it that you see?" she mimicked his movements, pulling up her own eyebrows. A slight grin curled her lips as she leaned her head on her elbows, looking at Jason with observant eyes. Her and Jason used to challenge each other all the time, mainly because neither of the two could stand it when someone even attempted to fuck with them and also, they were both stubborn as hell.
"Let me see," he licked his lips, slowly scanning her body from head to toe. She immediately felt butterflies erupt in her stomach, that and her sex being on fire. He took his time, clearly wanting her to notice how he was enjoying his sight before opening his mouth to speak. "First of all, you're extremely jealous of my relationship with Sola,"
"Lie number one." she counted.
"Don't interrupt me. Second, you're very sad that we're going back home. Probably because we won't be able to fu—"
"Fucking hell Jason!"
"Sorry Teo. Third, um," he furrowed his eyebrows, trying to make something up. Alexia stifled her laughs. He looked so adorable when he tried to focus and his eyebrows would do the knitting-together thing.
"Third," he smiled, "You're eager to get on the plane so we can do the thing."
"The thing?"
"The thing," he emphasized, "Remember what happened the last time we were in an airplane together? The thing where you were covered by the blanket and had my dick in your mou—"
"Shut the fuck up, will you?" Teo sneered, his eyes narrowed. Jason and Alexia broke into fits of giggles, both equally amused by how easily Teo got irritated. Jason didn't blame him, he would totally break the guy's nose if a guy ever dared to speak to his sister like that.
He was surprised Teo hadn't done it yet.
"You guys are going to end up giving him a heart attack." Maya chuckled, rubbing her hand along Teo's thigh. Teo groaned, "I would rather have a heart attack than listen to this shit any longer."
"Hey! We're not that bad." Alexia laughed.
"Yeah," Jason spoke, "You could be hearing much much worse things."
Teo clenched his jaw, clenching his fists. Maya tssk'ed, glowering at Jason before turning to Teo and giving him her undivided attention. "Shh, don't listen to him. He's an asshole."
"Speaking of assholes..." Jason couldn't finish the sentence due to him barking out a loud laugh. Alexia joined him as they laughed and looked each other in the eye, both remembering that one time they tried anal.
"Oh my god." Maya bit her lip, looking down. She was obviously trying to keep in her laughs. She seemed to instantly understand what Jason had meant.
"End of conversation. I mean it." Teo threatened with stern eyes. All three of them quieted down, not wanting to piss him off further. Like said before, Jason understood the man and Alexia wouldn't want to know all about her brother's sex life with Maya either.
They spent another hour sitting by the gate, listening to music and having small talks. Jason had apologized to Teo, not wanting him to hold a grudge. Teo was not only Alexia's brother but also a good friend of his and the one person who continued to help him whenever things got rough, he didn't want to get on his bad side. He didn't want to lose his friend.
Teo sat in between Jason and Alexia once they entered the plane.
"Teo, you honestly can't do that to me." Maya snapped, turning around in her seat. She was sitting in front of the three on her own. "How pathetic do I look? Sitting here on my own? I feel stupid."
"I don't want the thing to happen." Teo locked his jaw and Jason stifled a chuckle. Alexia giggled.
"Oh get over it! Your 'little' sister is not so little anymore and yes, she is having sex with her boyfriend. Who cares? It's not like I've never sucked your dick in public before!"
"Maya!"
"Oh my God..." Alexia widened her eyes and closed her mouth. Jason just laughed, clapping Teo's back, "Teo, I am proud."
With that, Teo had slowly—though flustered—taken the seat next to Maya, leaving the spot in between Jason and Alexia empty. Alexia immediately sat herself down on that seat, a cheeky grin curling her lips.
"What?" Jason looked at her with a side eye and a half smile. She just shrugged, staring into his eyes. He looked so peaceful she just had to take a moment.
"We can do the thing now." She snickered, then cocked her head to the side as if saying 'Teo is there and not here'.
"I am not doing the thing with you. Your brother is sitting in front of us."
"So? More excitement."
"Do you really think Teo wouldn't notice if you were on the ground sucking my dick? It doesn't work like that." Jason pulled up his eyebrows, an amused undertone lacing his words. Alexia contemplated that.
"Well, yeah... he would notice. You're right." She pouted. She really wanted to blow him, to be quite honest. Somehow Alexia was feeling fully charged—erotically charged.
There was a silence when the lights went on and the stewardess ordered everyone to put on their safety belts. Alexia obediently did so and kept her mouth shut the entire time that the stewardess was speaking, trying to distract herself.
She tried thinking of Jason, she tried thinking of clothes, she tried thinking of delicious Mexican food, she tried thinking of Freddie, she tried thinking of baby Toby... but nothing worked. Nausea settled itself in the pit of her stomach and her previously consumed food threatened to come up.
Fuck, not again.
Jason apparently noticed or he remembered, either way, the man promptly wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer. "Hey, Lex, look at me. Are you okay?"
"No," she murmured, gratefully pushing herself against his side. Jason gently held her chin, pressing a chaste kiss on her lips. "Stay focused on me, okay? You know this'll be over soon."
"Okay." And she tried, really, but it didn't help. Instead, she got dizzy.
"Fuck," Jason whispered to no one in particular, hastily looking around.
Alexia closed her eyes, a satisfying whiff of Jason's cologne slipping into her nostrils. Chill, she thought, Jason is here. Don't throw up. Don't throw up.
Suddenly, Jason's hand slipped into her jeans, making the zipper tear apart as his fingers expertly crept inside her panties. Alexia's eyes flew open, her lower stomach faintly starting to throb. "Jase—"
Jason muffled her words by inserting two fingers of his right hand into her mouth, "Suck." He ordered, and Alexia obeyed.
He gave a pleased grunt when he began fingering her sensitive, slick folds, clearly feeling the moisture that had already formed itself. "So wet already," he mumbled low enough only for her to hear. Alexia narrowed her eyes at the lack of touching, her tongue swirling around his fingers.
She unconsciously spread her legs more, as far as the seat allowed her to, and bucked her hips. Jason shot her a devilish grin, continuing to play with the tongue in her mouth. "If I pull out my fingers you have to promise me not to moan."
Alexia nodded.
He pulled out his fingers and replaced her mouth with his own, lazily kissing her. Her heart beat faster, silently moaning into the kiss as he entered her opening with one finger, his thumb purling her clit rapidly, and then another finger followed.
She squealed and he kissed her harder, moving his fingers in and out of her soaking pussy. "Shh baby, you've got to stay silent. We can't risk your brother hearing you. You know he's sitting in front of us, right?"
Alexia couldn't give a single shit about her brother right now.
He made his fingers move faster. "Do you like this?"
"Y-y-yeah..."
Jason kissed her again as she began grinding her hips against his fingers, not bothering to wait for him to up his speed. He snickered, "Eager, are we?"
"Come on Jason," she snapped lowly, her back arching. Jason looked at her with dark eyes, moving his fingers harder. "You love it when I fingerfuck you."
Alexia whimpered, tightly clasping her teeth together as she firmly held Jason's stretched arm, digging her nails into his flesh. "Yes!"
"Shhhh!" he hissed, covering her mouth with his own again.
They made out, but Alexia moaned all throughout the thing, fixating on the fingers inside her only. She was close.
"God," he growled, "I love you." His voice was sexy, tender and dark... and enough to make Alexia cum.
Jason had his hand over her mouth until she nodded, telling him that she was done and didn't feel the need to scream anymore.
He removed his hands from her mouth and her panties, a proud smile plastered on his face. Alexia rolled her eyes, "Shut up."
"I'm not even saying anything!" he exclaimed, but he wiggled his eyebrows in a way that indicated different.
"You want to!" she spoke, laughing. Jason shrugged, turning his attention to the hands in his lap. Three of his fingers were wet and without hesitation, he put them into this own mouth, slowly sucking all of her cum.
"Jesus." She breathed, already feeling new sparks in her lower abdomen. Jason looked at her, "You taste amazing."
"Stop it." She laughed, snuggling into his side. Jason laughed too, protectively wrapping his muscled arms around her petite frame. Alexia puffed out a breath, enjoying the feeling as his body heat enveloped her.
"Look, babe," he whispered, pointing at the little window. She stared at the blue sky and the realization hit her. "We're flying?"
"Uhuh."
Vivacity rushed through her and she barked out a laugh, cupping Jason's cheek. She couldn't help but feel relieved and at the same time insanely in love. He knew she was going to be sick. He distracted her.
Jason was smiling and leaning into her touch, looking at her with observant eyes. "That was a good distraction, wasn't it?"
"Definitely. Thank you." Alexia kissed him. Jason's smile grew and he laid back against the seat, keeping her close. "You're welcome."
Teo turned around in his seat, glaring at the two. When he saw that they were only cuddling, his face softened and he turned around, wrapping an arm around Maya.
Jason snickered, "Now he turns around?"
-
"I want to hear the plan again. Just to make sure."
Alexia sighed, "I go home and talk to dad. I'll make sure it's a good time and he's in a good mood—"
"—Good luck finding a 'good time'." Teo chimed in.
Alexia ignored him, proceeding to tell her plan. "Whatever, first I'll talk to him about Damian. I'll tell him everything, from Jason's first 'accident' to the fire to this, and then I'll tell him that I don't want to marry Damian and that he shouldn't trust him with the business."
Teo made a face.
"And I'll tell him I love Jason and Jason only."
"You don't ha—"
"Yes," she snapped, "I know I don't have to, but he needs to know. He's my dad and I trust him. I'm confident he wouldn't force me."
There was an awkward silence. "Didn't he force you into your engagement with Damian?"
Trust Maya to make everything more awkward.
Alexia licked her lips, at a loss for words. They had landed thirty minutes ago and were now sitting in some café at the airport, their luggage limply encircling them on the ground.
Jason was somewhere else to pick up Sola, which gave Teo the chance to talk about what Alexia was going to do once she was home, in details.
"That was mostly mom." Teo explained to Maya, "She adored Damian and she was the one who picked him to marry Alexia."
Maya nodded, "Okay... but doesn't the new leader get to marry Emilio's daughter? Which means that your dad," she looked at both of them, "was fully supportive of the arrangement too?"
"Yes, but," Teo frowned, trying to think of a response. "It's a tradition to marry the oldest daughter, which is Cat in our case. Only, Cat was already involved with a man when dad picked Damian so he had to marry Alexia, but then again... it's just a silly tradition. Dad wouldn't have persuaded Alex into doing it if mom wasn't so keen, because he really doesn't care that much."
Maya stayed silent, letting the new information sink in.
"I wonder why he picked Damian." Alexia thought out loud, her mind making circles. Her father was a smart and driven man, and Christ, was he loyal to the business. He thought through every decision, every choice. Emilio Valdez would never result to anything if it could harm the business in any way.
So why Damian Albarran?
He had already proven that he sucked.
Why did Emilio continue to act like Damian was a great leader?
Alexia was confused to say the slightest.
"You and me both, sis." Teo growled, the resentment for Damian as a leader seeping through his words. Maya caught it and even raised her eyebrows, but didn't say anything.
"Anyway," Alexia snapped, "I doubt dad will believe me right away when I tell him that my fiancé is an obsessed cold blooded murderer, so that's where you step in."
She had Teo's full attention.
"You, Dominic and Stefano will help me convince him. If necessary I'll call Maya, I'll even get Ryan and Chaz."
Teo shook his head, "No, not Maya. Keep her out of this."
"Teo," Maya furrowed her eyebrows, ready to protest, but he cut her off. "No. I don't care what you're going to say, you are not going to be there. Want to know why? Damian is bound to be in that house, right when we tell on him. Or he'll find out who was there too. Or he'll just blow us all up. Either way, I am not risking it."
"It's just a conversation with dad, Teo..." Alexia murmured, although she understood why her brother didn't want Maya to have anything to do with this.
"I don't give a shit." He sneered.
"Fine." Alexia shrugged, "No Maya. Still, there are enough people. I don't want to get anyone in danger either, you know."
"I know."
"Do I have a say in this?" Maya looked outraged, bewilderment crossing her face as she threw her hands up in the air in exasperation.
"No." Both Teo and Alexia hissed at the same time, catching them all by surprise.
Teo and Alexia looked at each other, shooting meaningful glances the other's way until Alexia spoke up again. "Hopefully, when dad believes me, he'll make sure Damian can't hurt Jason."
"Yeah, hopefully. Once we tell dad Jason's life is on the line."
"Gee," Alexia irritably shoved Teo's shoulder, annoyance bubbling up, "You don't have to say it like that." She knew Jason would be even more in danger once she told her father, she didn't need a reminder.
"It's true though." Teo merely shrugged.
"If I don't tell dad Jason will spend the rest of his life fucking hiding! I have to do something!"
Teo nodded, "I know, Lex. Chill."
Chill? Chill? Was her brother out of his freaking mind? He, out of all people, knew about everything Jason had gone through! From the first attack to him being chased by a professional assassin by car, from Bumper dying to the fire, from him hiding in Boston to their mom getting killed, from fleeing to Burlington—the most boring place on earth—to still getting chased by Damian's men. And now, they were planning on putting a greater risk on his life, as if he wasn't this close to dying already.
"Breathe, c'mon, breathe." Teo spoke, putting a hand on her back. Alexia did what she was told, slowly breathing.
"Good. He'll get through it. You will both get through it. Just calm down, okay? You getting angry won't benefit any of us."
"Okay," he was right, "but when this is over, I want to smack that stupid grin off Damian's face."
"Alright."
"And I want to strangle him."
"Sure."
"And I want to stab him, multiple times."
"Uhuh."
"And I want to kick him in the balls."
"Shh, Sola, don't listen to your mommy. Can you please not talk about balls while Sola is around? She's still a baby."
Alexia shot up, warmth almost immediately rushing through her body. Jason was standing there with the biggest smile on his face, gently caressing the pup in his arms. One he was holding very protectively, at that.
He had called her Sola's mommy. Did that mean that he was the daddy?
Why did she get all jubilant and emotional hearing that?
"Hey Sola." He held out her hands, waiting for Jason to put the puppy in them. He sighed and put Sola in her arms, clearly not happy about it.
Alexia laughed, caressing her like Jason had done before. Sola was silent, her ears perked up and her little paws placed on Alexia's skin, like she was afraid.
"We missed you, baby." And to be quite honest, she really had. The puppy had become one of them really fast.
Sola yawned, which was awfully cute.
Everyone aww-ed, even Jason, who seemed to love anything this dog did. "She's so cute." Alexia rattled, brushing the top of Sola's head. Jason nodded, "She's tired."
"Obviously."
He hesitated before rambling, "Can I have her back?"
Alexia looked at him. He looked like he was embarrassed for his question and a faint blush painted his cheeks. He looked adorable.
"Of course. She's yours." She simpered, carefully handing Sola back to Jason. Jason looked relieved, kissing Sola before mumbling, "She's ours."
They stared into each other's eyes, the air filling with unspoken words. Alexia felt like he was talking to her without actually opening his mouth. His gaze said a thousand words. I love you. I adore you. I trust you. I want you. I desire you. I care about you. I need you. I'm in love with you.
"I'm sorry to break the mom-dad moment but me and Jason really have to get going if I want to be back home before tomorrow. Burlington is like four, five hours away." Teo said.
They were back home, but Jason wasn't. His home was in Burlington and he still had a long way to go. Teo was taking him there to make sure he got home safely. Alexia was supposed to tell their dad that he was sleeping at Maya's place and he'd be back tomorrow.
"You're right." Jason nodded, not breaking away from their eye contact.
This was the first time that Alexia wasn't sad about parting ways with Jason. Surely she was going to miss him, extremely, but this time it was different.
This time, they both knew it was over soon. This time, they knew they'd see each other again in just a few days.
This time, they had insurance.
