Chapter Twenty Seven
Karna decided to hide his conversation with Urvi from Duryodhan. He didn't want him to take a dangerous step after thinking that Pandavas may be alive.
"Princess", Karna said. "It's my request that you stay here for the night. Your kingdom is far away and going at night could be dangerous", Karna said. Urvi frowned. "I have a creative memory of my night, here. Angraj. I don't wish to spend it the same way", she said.
"I know you had a rough night here", Karna said, annoyed. "But that doesn't mean you will receive the same welcome every time. Fault was yours anyway. You could have come like this only to meet Bhabhi. No one would have stopped you but you decided to intrude", Karna said.
"You will stay at the guest room. I will appoint guards for extra security", Karna said. "I don't need extra guards", Urvi frowned. "Well...you do", Karna rolled his eyes. "Your little legs won't stop at one place and venture alone at night so you clearly require guards", Karna stated the fact.
"Who in the world did you call little?" Urvi scowled at him. Karna smirked hearing her angry tone.
Others gaped at their banter. "Arya", Kirti said. "Stop teasing her", Supriya said. "And focus on another matter at hand", Vrushali completed. Karna got back in his stern mode and looked at Arundhati and her father.
"Nice to meet you, King and dear princess", Karna said making Arundhati smile dreamily at him. "We needed to talk to you", the king said. "Alone, please", he added.
Karna frowned and looked at Duryodhan who nodded and urged him to go.
"Ok", Karna said. He looked at his wives. "Please don't go out of the room, my dear. I will come after completing my conversation with the king", Karna said. His wives nodded at him.
"Wear your accessories", Duryodhan requested making everyone laugh.
"I will check on you", Karna said to Duryodhan and then looked at the burnt furniture. "Idiot", he glared making Duryodhan sheepishly smile.
"Come with us", Kirti and Vrushali pulled Urvi and the four went giggling.
"How do you handle four? I can't handle one", Duryodhan said. Karna smirked. "I should tell bhabhi. And, you shouldn't say this after kidnapping her", he teased. "Just don't tell her", Duryodhan said fearfully. Karn laughed while Shakuni raised a brow.
"And, Urvi is not my wife", Karna scowled.
"She will be one day", Duryodhana muttered under his breath, looking at the direction, where the four went.
"What was that?" Karna asked him, suspiciously.
"Nothing!"
Panchal
The three girls were trying to make Draupadi's mood better were failing at it. "Draupadiii", they whined. Draupadi huffed and went forward.
(First Girl= Abhilasha
Second Girl= Esha
Third Girl= Kalyani)
"Don't try to make me happy when you know I won't get happy till father accepts me", Draupadi said.
"Why are you getting sad?" Esha rolled her eyes. "Arjun is not dead, anyways", she said. All three looked at her. "You didn't hear what the soldier said?" Draupadi asked sadly.
"Father and he saw what humans would see. We are boons of the veneration performed. And, also born for certain purposes. If Arjun was supposed to be death, you wouldn't have taken birth at the first place since Gods know everything. And, even he is son of Indra dev. So how can he be dead? He's alive but is pretending to be dead", Esha said. The three smiled big hearing it.
"I will bring something to eat for you, no more crying, please", Abhilasha said. Kalyani nodded in agreement. "And, I am bringing our cool commander", Kalyani said referring to Shikandini. "So that you eat the food rather than throwing tantrums", she added. They both went.
"Don't worry", Esha said softly. "He is definitely alive, just hiding", Esha said further.
"But why is he hiding?" Draupadi cried out.
"Because of his cousins", they heard and saw Drishtadyumna standing there. He pulled Draupadi in a much needed hug. Draupadi broke down in his arms as he cooed at her and caressed her hair.
"His cousins?" Draupadi asked confused as she looked up.
"Well...to begin with, his cousins did plan to kill them in Varnavrat. That palace was burnt by them", Drishtadyumna said.
Draupadi and Esha widened their eyes. "What?" Both asked in shock. "How are you sure?" Draupadi asked.
"It's quite clear", Drishtadyumna shrugged. "The cousins hate each other. Yudhister is elder to Duryodhan and was crowned to become future king. Only if he could vanish in thin air, Duryodhan could be king. So, killing him was the only option left and they did it...and...um", Drishtadyumna glanced at Esha. "Karna supported it".
Esha stumbled hearing it. "W-what?" She asked in a choked voice. "Yes, he was", Drishtadyumna sighed.
Esha felt tears filling in her eyes.
Hastinapura
"What you needed to talk about?" Karna asked the king as soon as they entered in the room.
"I am very grateful for the help you provided us, Angraj", The king said. Karna smiled. "That was my duty", he said. "And, I want to give something special in return of that", The king said.
"What that might be?" Karna frowned.
The king smiled big. "My daughter", He said. Karna widened his eyes hearing it. "What?" He asked in shock.
"I want to give my daughter to you", the King said to him.
"I am sorry but I can't accept her", Karna said quickly shattering Arundhati's heart. "I don't mean it in the wrong sense ok? You are really sweet and anyone would never reject marrying you but I have three wives. I can't remarry", Karna said, trying to explain.
"Why?" Arundhati asked. "You already have three wives, I know. But, a king can have many wives and you can have too. You are a king. Your wives have no right to stop you", Arundhati said.
"They actually have", Karna argued back. "My wives have left their homes, to be with me. They have supported me even when I committed a mistake and then, I remarry? They have every right to stop me from remarriage. My wives are not subordinates to me. They are my life partners", Karna said.
He remembered Kirti's heartbroken face when he came from Kalinga.
"I can't play with their emotions, just like that", Karna said. Arundhati gulped hearing it. "And, you can't offer your daughter just because someone helped you. She's a human, not a price to win", Karna shook his head.
"I-I can't marry her", Karna stuttered.
"Wait", Arundhati said as Karna tried to go. "I wish to have only you as my husband", Arundhati said. "I can't imagine someone else", she said further. "Please marry me", Arundhati requested with tears.
"Lady...I...I can't", Karna said with difficulty. He didn't like her teary eyes. Making someone sad was the last thing, he wanted. Especially after Varnavrat. He didn't want to hurt someone at all.
Why he gets prone to so many troubles?
