Chapter Twenty Four
Karna took a deep breath.
"I don't want to see your face ever", Urvi said. Karna looked at her. He had no words to say. His silence on this conspiracy made him feel awful.
Kunti was dead!
Urvi in tears looked at the dead bodies, covered. She went near them and trembling, took Arjun's ornaments in her hand. He was dead! She couldn't believe it.
Karna took Kunti's bangle in her hand. He fell on his knees as he examined the bangle.
He remembered how she fed him food and laughed with him. He remembered how she cleaned his mouth by her duppatta and caressed his hair.
Just like a mother!
"You will remember me, putr?"
"This was the first lullaby of my life, Lady Kunti. I will never forget it"
"There is no caste of children or Sanyasi, Madri. Karn is a little boy and we are Sanyasi so what is the need to bring caste in it?"
He remembered how she met him, years later, just after her husband's death, when she was returning with her five sons to Hastinapura.
"Are you going to catch Kasturi mrig, again?"
"Become the eldest brother of my five sons and handle their chariot"
"You can't seperate a son from his mother, Adhirath"
"You are coming with us to Hastinapura"
"My sons need your guidance"
"I don't know why but I feel, our relationship is deeper than any blood relation"
Karn felt his body shaking in fury and his cries. "I have always wanted change, change against this caste system, change against conspiracies, change for good", Karna whispered as he looked at the bangle.
"And...today? Today, I became a part of it. Against the only person who showered me with all the love, forgetting caste and royal rules. I...I killed M-Mata", Karna said.
He didn't realise that he called her mother in his despair.
He wiped his eyes and stood up. He held the bangle close to his heart. "I will get justice for you. I will get it", Karna said to himself in a desperate tone. "I know that I am equally responsible so I will stop it now. I won't this anymore. I will...I will leave this royalty", he said.
He broke down again and hugged that bangle close to his heart. Only if he could turn time.
Urvi saw him. She was not understanding why was he pretending to be sad when he had accomplished his motive. Wiping her tears, she went back to her chariot. She ordered the charioteer to move. Staying there was suffocating her.
Panchal
The Yagya was finally complete and Drishtadyumna was born. Drupad was really happy. But, the daughters were not getting birth which made Drupad extremely furious.
(This is not in real. The delay I have written in the birth, is Fictional. To show some drama in the story :) Xx)
He arrested the sages again. He wanted daughters too. Drishtadyumna was scared seeing his father's behaviour. He was standing there itself with his father watching how he tormented the sages.
Hastinapura
Karna reached the place broken-hearted. His wives were tensed seeing his state. "Arya, you heard about Varnavrat?" Supriya asked. "Pandavas are killed", she said further.
"I know", Karna gave a painful smile. "Even Kunti maa is dead", Karna said.
"Arya, what's wrong?" Supriya asked. "I know you are upset with Queen Kunti's death. But, your eyes show something else", Supriya said.
Kirti came closer and applied the only solution that she knows off. She hugged him.
Honestly, Karna needed it right now.
He hugged her as tightly as he could. Kirti felt squished in his hold but didn't tell him that she was in pain. She knew he needed it right now. He opened his arm and Supriya came in the hug. Vrushali came from the other side.
He hugged his wives as he sobbed in pain.
"Arya...what's wrong?" Kirti asked. Karna didn't reply. He just cried. "Karna. You are scaring us", Vrushali muttered.
"I need to meet Duryodhan. Right now!" He exclaimed. He pulled apart from the hug and the three followed him. He walked in fast pace towards the room where Duryodhan would be.
He stopped when he heard the sound of laughter. Laughter that haunted him. Along with laughter, Kunti's memories roamed in his mind making him realise what blunder happened due to his silence.
Was Urvi right?
He clenched his eyes shut and opened him again. He went in the room with red eyes full of anger and sadness. His wives came behind him. The door was closed by the soldiers.
"Mitr", Duryodhan said, a little worriedly. He knew that Karna had a bit of attachment with Kunti.
Nope. Karna had a 'deep' attachment with Kunti.
"Our mission got successful, mitr. Don't be upset", Duryodhan said. "I will be the crown Prince", Duryodhan said further.
His wives stared in horror. Their husband...? No!
"Arya", Kirti asked fearfully as she slowly stepped towards her husband. She held Karn's hand in her trembling ones. "Arya, please t-tell me this i-is not the truth", Kirti said. She was shaking in fear.
Supriya and Vrushali went towards Duryodhana.
"Is this true?" Vrushali asked. Duryodhan looked away. "Look at me and answer Kumar. Please tell me, is this true?" Vrushali asked.
Supriya stared in disbelieve. She didn't expect this cruelty even after getting kidnapped. She didn't even think about it ever.
"Answer me, Arya", Kirti cried. "Is this true?" She asked him. Karna nodded slowly. "W-what?" Kirti asked. "Y-you killed Pandavas?" She stuttered. Vrushali and Supriya widened their eyes and turned around.
"Karn", Vrushali asked. She rushed towards him with Supriya. "I don't believe this", she cried. "The person who was a little boy and jumped in a well to pay for the killed blacksmith. When he just wanted their good", Vrushali said. "Then how come that little boy, grew up and killed someone so...so mercilessly?" Vrushali asked.
Varnavrat
Bhishma couldn't believe what he saw. He went towards the palace and entered inside. He stumbled on his steps. "Kunti", he called.
"Bheem, Arjun, Yudhister", he shouted. "Nakul, Sahdev, my dear grandsons", he cried. "Where are you?" He asked.
Then he some burnt weapons which were difficult to figure out. He understood them as the weapons of Pandavas and broke down crying.
"Oh my dear! Pandavas", he shouted loudly and cried.
Hastinapura
"It was needed, Bhabhis", Duryodhan said. "Yudhister was snatching my right", he said.
"He never snatched your rights", Kirti said. "He is the eldest among you cousins and eldest is only eligible to be a king", Kirti said.
"No. He did snatch my Bhanje's right", Shakuni said. "Stop spreading poison in his mind for God's sake", Kirti yelled in anger.
Karna stood silent as he closed his eyes with tears still falling down.
"You are inviting the doom of your bhanja", Kirti pointed at Shakuni. "Gandhar Raj", she sneered at him. Vrushali and Supriya held Karna. Karna gulped the lump in his throat, harshly.
"The Pandavas are dead", Shakuni said. Kirti shook her head. "I feel not", she yelled in tears. "Have some common sense even if you plan conspiracies. They are the boons from God. Arjun is literally the son of Indra dev", Kirti said. "God of rain!" She exclaimed.
"Do you really think they will be dead?" She asked, angrily.
Shakuni got silent hearing it.
Kirti was right!
With Urvi
Urvi was constantly crying seeing Arjun's ornaments.
"W-where...where is the diamond, I gave to Arjun?" She said. "Stop the chariot", she ordered. She stepped down once it was stopped. "What? That diamond can't be burned so it should have been there, where is it?" Urvi asked herself.
She felt her heart racing. Who could she go to? No one would believe her and her parents were not present there, right now.
As if she lost the control over her mouth, as she stepped on the chariot, "Take me to Angraj Karna in Hastinapura", she said.
Fake or real, she had seen him crying over Kunti. She hoped he would help her.
