Chapter Twenty Five
The environment in Hastinapura was not ok. Everyone were gloomy over the loss of the five princes. And the beloved, Queen Mother.
However, Dhritrashtra was happy as his son was finally made the crown Prince. Bhishma had been solemn along with all other Kuru elders. They could see Hastinapura getting ruined in hands of Duryodhana.
Karna and his wives along with Bhanumati and other wives of married Kauravas were standing there. Bhanumati was quite happy with her husband being the king and she didn't knew her husband was behind Varnavrat. Duryodhan had strictly told his brothers, uncle and Karna to not tell her that.
Karna had noticed the disappointment in the eyes of his wives but they didn't leave his side for once.
"I want to talk, Duryodhan", Karna said after the court was dismissed. Duryodhan, all lost in his happiness, nodded at him. "I will meet you in the room", Duryodhan told Bhanumati and she smiled and went.
Karna and his wives went with Duryodhan to the lobby. "Since becoming your friend, my only desire was to see you as the crown Prince", Karna said. "Now it's fulfilled", he sighed.
"Mitr?" Duryodhan gulped seeing where it was going. Karna ignored it and continued. "After seeing the palace burning, I realised that royal life revolves only around power and in this power, there is no family or relations", Karna said and took a harsh breath.
"I felt sickened after realising it. Moreover, I felt terrible realising I have been a part of it. I couldn't look at myself in the mirror", Karna said and looked at Duryodhan.
"You have supported me when everyone rejected me and I am thankful for that. But...I don't want to be part of this anymore. My duty was to get you become the king and defeat Arjun", Karna said and wiped a lone tear falling from his eyes.
"And now, you are the crown Prince and Arjun is dead. So, I have no work left here", Karna said.
"Mitr", Duryodhan protested.
Karna looked at him dead in the eyes. "I am leaving the throne of Anga, this royalty and you. I am sorry, Yuvraj", Karna folded his hands and before Duryodhan could say anything, he turned around.
He took out the crown giving it to a soldier standing there and respectfully keeping it on the covered flat surface, the soldier was holding. He kept all other accessories on it and sighed as he looked like the common man he was.
He rushed outside in fast pace before Duryodhan could stop him because he knew he won't be able to refuse then.
His wives removed their accessories too. And, greeting Duryodhan, followed their husband. They exited the royal palace on foot.
To his surprise, he found Urvi there, on the chariot, at the entrance of the palace premises.
(Her outfit with braided hair)
Karn was confused seeing her.
Urvi got down from her chariot and came towards him. "I saw what happened", she muttered. "You are leaving Anga?" She asked.
"To pay for the mistake I did. I am leaving Anga", Karna said. Karna looked away.
Urvi took a deep breath. "I need to talk to you", Urvi said. Karna looked at her. "You have blamed me enough. I can't deal with it anymore", Karna said. "I need to talk to you regarding Pandavas death", Urvi said.
"What about it?" Karna asked hurriedly. His wives looked at the exchange quite clueless about everything. "In private", Urvi added. "Your wives can be there", She said.
"Of course they will be there", Karna said. "Come with me", he added. They went out of the palace.
Panchal
After the Yagya was completed, the sky had called out to Drupad. Drupad was puzzled. His daughter, draupadi was going to change the future of Aryavrat.
How was that even possible?
His fatherly instinct made him over think about her life when the fire suddenly rose up so rapidly that it took everybody by surprise.
Shikandini and Drishtadyumna stared at the fire. They prayed inwardly for good results as three sages had escaped somehow and Drupad was really, really angry.
If their sisters didn't come out, he was going to throw these sages in the fire only.
To their relief, finally a shadow was formed in the fire. They could see it. Drupad had a big smile on his face and he saw his victory nearby. He would have the two best archers of this world at his feet now.
(Draupadi fast version)
(Same song for both as both are fire born, Panchal princesses)
Draupadi emerged from the fire. Drupad grinned widely. Krishna sighed and smiled. "Welcome! Welcome, Drupad putri Draupadi", Krishna said spreading his arms out. Draupadi smiled hearing it.
She went towards her father and bent down to touch his feet. She smiled big as her father blessed her. "You are the result of my prayers, Putri. I can't tell how glad I am to have you", Drupad said. Draupadi smiled slightly.
"I am equally glad to be born as your daughter, pitashree. However, I am curious. What is the goal of my life?" Draupadi asked.
"Arjun", Drupad said seriously.
"Arjun", Drupadi frowned. "Who is he, father?" She asked clueless. "Wait, dear", Drupad said smiling. "Let your sister arrive as well. You both have same tasks in your life", Drupad told her.
Draupadi nodded in agreement and patiently looked at the fire back.
Emerged three gorgeous girls.
First girl
(Her outfit)
Second girl
(Her outfit)
Third Girl
(Her outfit)
Drupad stared in surprise at the second and third girl. How come they emerged? He looked at Krishna who was smiling.
"Pitashree!" The girls exclaimed. They went towards him in a fast pace with smiles on their faces. They took his blessings.
"Putri", Drupad cried in utmost happiness. "Today, no one can be more lucky than me. You are the reward of my patience. Now, I will be able to have Angraj on my side as well", Drupad said and looked at the second and third girl.
"All of the three of my daughters have the same goal, Dwarakanaresh?" Drupad asked.
"Indeed", Krishna smiled. "These three princesses will marry Angraj while Drupadi will marry Arjun", Krishna said. The four smiled hearing him.
But it was short lived.
"Maharaj", a soldier came with pale face. The Princesses, Drishtadyumna, Shikandini and Drupad turned towards him as Krishna closed his eyes seeing what was coming next.
"In Varnavrat...", the soldier told everything to them. Draupadi felt her eyes welling up with tears as her, three sisters came to support her.
"If Arjun is dead, then I don't need Draupadi for anything", Drupad said. Draupadi felt her heart crack hearing it. While, his five other kids stared at him in shock.
"What are you saying? Pitashree", Shikandini shouted in shock. Drupad stood firmly. "I disown her", Drupad declared. Draupadi stumbled hearing it.
"No. She is your daughter. You can't disown her", The sage said angrily.
How dare he insult the divine boon from Gods?
"Ok then", Drupad said furiously. "I curse her to endure pain and suffering in her whole lifetime", Drupad yelled.
Draupadi kept staring at him in tears as the other three fire born crying hugged her, while Shikandini angrily went to confront her father who went with Drishtadyumna to tell him about Dronacharya and the goal of killing him.
"I didn't even do anything", Draupadi cried and looked at her sisters. "Why me?" She asked. All her sisters didn't say anything and kept hugging her.
While, Krishna stared at them sadly.
Bhugat-Gram
Karna angrily shot another arrow in the target. Urvi had went with his wives on Supriya's insistence to have food and then talk.
The way she insulted him when she intruded in the palace, it surprised him that now, she went in his house, a charioteer's house happily to have food.
What goes on with this girl was beyond his understanding. He huffed.
His wives came with Urvi back. Urvi stared at him silently as he put all his anger in his archery practice.
"Angraj", Urvi said. Karna shot another arrow. Urvi sighed and went close to him. "I had given a diamond to Arjun", Karna gritted his teeth. He didn't want to remember it.
"But...it was not there...", Karna frowned in irritation. What was the big deal in it?
"And, it can't be burnt, it won't be destroyed by any chance so...", Urvi spoke. Karna stopped piercing his own arrows as he stopped targeting another arrow at the target. He held the arrow in another hand with his bow in one.
With widened eyes, he looked at Urvi. "If the diamond is not with you, where is it?" He completed for her and Urvi nodded.
He thought to himself. "Can the Pandavas be alive?" He spoke. "Means...", he said.
"Hopefully, they escaped?" Urvi completed.
Hastinapura
Duryodhan was getting impatient after listening to Karna. He didn't only saw him as Arjun's competitor, heck with it! He forgot about it long back. He saw him as his friend. And, he wanted his friend, Karna back, anyhow.
"Yuvraj", the maid said. "What?!" Duryodhan screamed/growled in anger. The maid started shaking furiously in excessive fear. "V-vaanar king and p-princess A-Arundhati have arrived", the maid stuttered.
Duryodhan frowned. Why?
