Chapter Twelve

One week passed by in a bliss.

Karna was puzzled seeing Duryodhan silent but didn't think much about it. Today, he and Duryodhan were going for Bhanumati's swayamvar.

"Mitr. Come fast", Duryodhana was bouncing at his steps. "Coming. You are not even letting me get ready properly", Karna said and rolled his eyes. "Oh Karna. I thought you will understand as you've been in love", Duryodhana said dramatically.

"I fail to understand how come you are the Prince with this dramatic butt of yours", Karna deadpanned. He climbed on the chariot as Duryodhana sadly pouted at his friend who knew his antics and scoffed.

They drove off to Kalinga.

"Listen. You are not gonna do any stupidity there", Karna reminded him. "Since last night, it's the twentieth time you have warned me about it", Duryodhana said. "Still I know you will do it", Karna said tired. "You know me well", Duryodhana grinned.

"Come on Duryodhan", Karna whined. "We listen to the elders scoldings so much that I have forgotten the count of it", Karna said. "Ok...ok", Duryodhan raised his hands in surrender. "If she chooses me, I won't cause any ruckus", Duryodhana said.

In Anga

"Vrushali jiji", Kirti said entering her room. The doors opened with a bang starling Vrushali.

Anga was almost maintained now. Even after Karna's protests, Duryodhan helped in everything. Still the incomplete tasks were being completed. People loved their royal people.

"Slow down, Kirti", Vrushali said and Kirti gestured her hands in 'who cares?' attitude, sitting on the bed beside Vrushali. They were sisters. "I am not feeling good", Kirti whined. Vrushali caressed her hair.

"Why is that?" Vrushali asked. Kirti laid her head on Vrushali's lap. "I don't know", Kirti said.

"I feel something is wrong. Something worse".

In Panchal

"Why? Why are you not able to perform this Yagya?" Asked Drupad in anger. "You are so wise and spiritual then what the heck is the problem?" Asked Drupad again.

The sages were trembling in fear. "Arrest them and throw them in prison", Drupad roared.

"Maharaj. What do you want?" Shikandini asked seeing the sages being taken away. "A son and a daughter", Drupad said with dark and scary red eyes. "A son who will kill Dronacharya and a daughter who will marry Arjun", Drupad said.

"Not daughter but daughters"

They heard and turned around to see Vasudev who was their guest since a while now. "Daughters?" Drupad asked in confusion. "Daughters", Krishna confirmed.

"There is someone who is one of the best archers and has the capability to fight with Arjun without getting defeated or tired. One who is equal to Arjun and has the tej of Suryadev himself", Krishna said.

"Who that might be?" Drupad asked.

Krishna smiled. "One who is complete in himself. Who established his own place among caste based world and became a king in Aryavrat after proving his worth to entire Kuru race", Krishna said.

"Angraj Karn"

In Kalinga

The suitors had started arriving for the ceremony in the upcoming hour. Karn and Duryodhana arrived much before Yudhister and Arjun as Duryodhana was too excited to stay back at home.

"Let's roam in the palace", Karna said. "No. I am too tired. I will rest in the room", Duryodhana said. Karna nodded and he went in the room, given to him. "See you later", Duryodhana said. "Sure", Karna waved back.

He started roaming in the palace. He stopped seeing a girl crying. He went towards her automatically. Maybe he could help in any way.

"Excuse me, lady? Why are you crying?" Karna asked. The lady turned towards him. "I-I lost m-my bracelet in the bushes", she sobbed. Karna went towards the bushes and started searching for the bracelet.

He got cuts and bruises in the process. "Leave it. You are hurting", she said. Karna chuckled. "I am a warrior, my lady", he said respectfully. "I have a habit of these things", he said further and searched for the bracelet. He smiled as he took it out.

The girl grinned big. "Thank you", she said happily. "No problem", Karna said. Supriya looked at his hands and tore her chunri twice, tying them on his hands.

"You're?" She asked. "Angraj Karna", Karna smiled. The girl nodded and bowed gratefully and respectfully. "You're?" Karna asked as she turned around.

"Supriya", she whispered and ran away.

Meanwhile...

In a closed room, Shakuni was observing a model of a palace, built by sand very keenly.

"Bhishma loves you very much, Pandu putras. That's the only reason I hate you. Oh no...", he said dramatically. "You are the very first reason of your destruction yourself. Why Yudhister? Why you need to compete for the throne? Why don't you let my Priya Bhanja have it?" Shakuni asked in mock sadness.

He then gave a smile which can make chills run down. "Don't worry", he said as he brought a burning stick near. "I will throw you out of my way, myself", he promised.

"And that will complete my revenge", he concluded. He threw the matchstick on the sand castle and it caught fire instantly as Shakuni laughed, monstrously.

"Hastinapur will get ruined soon and my revenge will be completed", Shakuni said further.

The glass of water fell and the fire extinguished from the candle in front of the Shiv-ling.

Kunti gasped in horror seeing it and fell on her knees, staring at the idol with scared eyes. "W-what? Mahadev, t-this? This is so inauspicious. Is some kind of danger looming on my sons? How come this happened? How did the glass of water get slipped from my hand? I don't feel good now. I don't...", Kunti said slowly.

Her heart clenched in worry for her sons. Bheem, Nakul and Sahdev were still here, in front of her eyes but her Karna, Yudhister and Arjuna were not there. She had no idea about what could wrong and she was in panick and fear, remembering Arjun and Karna's fight with each other. Was it regarding that?

With trembling hands, she again lit the candle and folded her hands as she started crying silently.

In Kalinga

"Angraj Karna? Is he that handsome hunk?" Bhanumati asked looking from far away. "Yes", Supriya whispered remembering their meet. "So you have chosen him?" Bhanumati asked.

"Swayamvar is your's, not mine", Supriya rolled her eyes. "So what? You are my sakhi", Bhanumati said. Supriya sighed. "But in the eyes of the world, I am a maid. I am not capable of marrying a king", Supriya explained.

Bhanumati looked at Supriya sadly and looked at Angraj Karna as Supriya looked at him with an unknown longing in her eyes.
