Chapter Thirty Eight
The environment was tensed.
"I will talk to her", Karna said and ran after her.
Kirti was walking ahead furiously. She was really...really angry. She was determined to not let those three princesses in.
"Kirti, please listen to me", Karna pleaded. "Kirti", he repeated and held her hand. The force exerted was such, that she got turned and dashed into his chest.
She gasped and Karna held her by her waist.
She shivered with this sudden proximity. Since her marriage, due to various events, they never got to spent romantic time with each other.
This was her first time.
Karna stared in her doe shaped eyes and found himself getting lost in them.
They gazed in each other's eyes intently.
"A-arya", she stuttered. She indicated to the soldiers standing in the hall.
Not willing at all, Karna left her. He wanted to love her that second itself. She felt her cheeks go crimson red as she looked down, still breathing deeply.
All her anger seemed to vanish away.
Karna smiled at her lightly and found his heart beating faster too.
One task was there to do, anyways.
"Kirti, why are you not accepting Panchalis?" He asked her. Kirti looked away hearing it but she seemed troubled. "If you won't share with me, how will it help us, darling?" Karna asked her gently.
"Arya, the king who insulted his childhood friend, just because he became king, would accept a Suta so easily?" She asked.
Karna frowned hearing it.
"Don't you expect foul play here? As if these princesses are born with some motives? Why that veneration took place so suddenly?" Kirti asked.
"I won't accept anyone who I feel, is harmful for you", she said, firmly.
Karna smiled emotionally at the amount of love she had for him.
"I talked with them. They are very sweet to have secret motives, sweetheart. Please accept them", he begged. Kirti got hesitant. "I will tell you if I face problem, I promise, please", he said with puppy eyes.
Kirti sighed and couldn't refuse him.
"Fine", she muttered. "You are sure about this, right?" She asked him. Karna nodded at her. "I am sure", he repeated.
She smiled lightly hearing it. Karna hugged her. She hugged him back.
They pulled apart after some seconds and went to welcome the Princesses who looked solemn.
"I apologise", Kirti said lowly. "I welcome you with my heart and soul, here", she said sweetly that it melted the tensed environment and converted it, into a joyful one.
The four Queens welcomed the Panchal princesses, now the Queens of Anga.
The three were pulled in a hug by Vrushali, Supriya, Arundhati and Kirti.
Karna smiled seeing it.
That's what he wanted!
"I want everyone to gather in the royal court. I want to announce something", Dhritrashtra said.
Duryodhan was the crown Prince now as Yudhister was not there so everyone knew what the announcement would be about.
They dispersed to rest and get ready for the royal court.
Karna's room
Karna had gone to practice archery while his wives sat there, getting comfortable with each other. They were telling each other their childhood stories one by one and enjoying together.
"You should get ready", Karna said, entering inside.
"We need to leave for the royal court", he said and they nodded. They got up.
Pukhya
Urvi was so gloomy since she came from Hastinapura that her parents were worried.
"We need to get her out of the trauma of Arjun's death. We should send a letter to Bhanumati as soon as possible", Her mother said.
"I have already asked her personal maid to write the letter and send it to her. Don't worry, our daughter will be alright", her father assured her mother.
Hastinapura
Karna got out of the room with his wives.

They were walking to the royal court when he saw the soldier carrying a letter.
"From where is this letter?" Karna asked, quite curiously.
"This is from Pukhya for Queen Bhanumati, Maharaj", The soldier said.
Karna widened his eyes. "Give it to me", he said. He knew that reading the letter written for someone else was wrong but he couldn't help it.
He took the letter from the soldier.
He opened it and started reading it.
Dear Bhanumati.
This is to inform you that Urvi has been killing herself in the pain of loosing her best friend.
She's not eating anything and drinking water hardly. All she does is cry in her room. Arjun and she were the closest friends so she's really affected.
Please write a letter back to her and talk to her.
Thank you
"This girl", Karna cursed under his breath.
"Write a letter back saying that Urvi should be send here back", he ordered. The soldier nodded and went.
"Let's go", Karna said. His wives didn't question him that time as they needed to reach the court on time.
They climbed the stairs to the balcony where Queens stood and viewed the court below.
"I am happy to see you all gathered", Drishtrashra said, after the soldier announced the arrival of everyone which made him aware of everyone's presence.
"I am here with an important announcement today", he said.
"It's really sad that Pandavas and Kunti aren't alive now. Despite completing all rituals done by Taatshree, it's something that the kingdom can never get over with. However, moving on is essential is life. My age is growing and the kingdom needs a crown Prince. Hereby, I declare Duryodhan as the crown Prince of the kingdom", He said.
Everyone were stunned hearing it.
Karna hugged Duryodhan happily. Duryodhan hugged him back, grinning widely.
Gandhari, Kauravas and Bhanumati were happy.
But, rest were not.
Karn's wives wanted to be happy but they knew what happened with Pandavas and couldn't manage to smile.
The Panchal princesses were furious. So, that's why everything was planned.
Kalyani opened her mouth to say that they were alive but Abhilasha held her hand and nodded in negative when Kalyani looked at her while Esha stared at Duryodhan angrily.
It was time for the Pandavas to arrive.
Author's Note
I am thinking of showing Karn's romantic moments with his wives...
