Chapter Sixty Three
"Arjun, don't step out", Karna said as Arjun turned around.
Arjun turned around to face Karna. "And I will listen to you in case of my sister. Huh?" Arjun asked ferociously. He was clenching his jaw.
Karna clenched his fists and glared at Arjun. "I have no interest in ordering you. Dusshala doesn't want you to harm her husband. Don't you think, you should at least care to ask your sister before taking action? You know...'talk with her'?" Asked Karna.
Arjun looked at Dusshala to see she was crying and her expressions said that she didn't want Arjun to go.
Arjun sighed and kicked the doors close.
He came towards Dusshala and she jumped in his arms as he hugged her back. She broke down crying. "I told you that don't agree for marriage", he whispered.
Dusshala was asked but she agreed in love for her brother and his desire. Duryodhan thought that she was genuinely okay with the marriage and the things just went forward like that.
"Don't do anything, bhrata shree. Please. You listened our conversation, na? You know why I am telling you to keep quiet. Please don't tell anyone, anything bhrata shree", Dusshala requested.
Arjun sighed. "You could have asked for my life, I could have given you. How can I see my own sister getting hurt?" He asked.
"Please don't do it, bhrata shree", Dusshala said. "I will take care of myself. And if you don't want, I will stay here. Just don't tell anyone", she pleaded.
Arjun was in a dilemma. It was so hard.
"This is absurd", Karna exclaimed. "Why are we so helpless despite being warriors?" He asked.
"Bhrata shree, I will be fine, don't worry", she assured.
"By the way, I heard your thoughts about Urvi and your wish to attend her swayamvar", Arjun said. "I suggest you don't go there", he said as Karna looked at him, smirking.
"Why? Can't bear to see your best friend with me", he asked. "You won't get any approval. Aunt hates you and let's not forget, Urvi is my best friend. I won't like her with my rival", Arjun said.
"Life is her's so let the decision be of her, too", Karna said.
Arjun rolled his eyes. What was the advantage of a marriage that has no approval? And why didn't Urvi tell this to him?
He looked at Dusshala. He would make sure to make Jaydrath stay away from his sister.
He kissed her forehead and left her. Karna caressed her hair as they both walked out glaring at each other.
Dusshala looked at their treating figures, amused.
They looked so similar that she could only laugh seeing them. They looked like...brothers?
Next Morning
Pandavas left for Indraprastha.
Vrishali couldn't go as she still needed approval. Karna managed to stop her till that time and he rushed to get approval for her.
"Why does she need to go?" Duryodhan asked.
"Duryodhan", Karna rolled his eyes. "She's alone and her family is on the other side. Why won't she want to go? You tell me", Karna asked.
Duryodhan sulked and sat on the couch. "My people are leaving me", he whined.
Karna sighed and sat beside him.
"It's just a girl", He said. Duryodhan looked at him. "Doesn't matter. She has been a citizen", Duryodhan said.
"Duryodhan, we can't really force her to stay here. If she wants to go, we are no one to stop her. People will hate you if you force them. You need to be in good books of people to be a ruler otherwise those who are staying here, will leave too. Patience is needed, please have it, mitr", Karna said.
Duryodhan sighed. "Fine", he said. "By the way, pitashree has ordered mata Kunti to not go in bhoomi pujan", Duryodhan said.
Karna stood up in shock. "Why?" He shrieked.
"Well...she did help some citizens and stopped soldiers from stopping them. That went against the orders of pitashree so he told her that she's not allowed to go. It's her punishment", Duryodhan said.
"It's...It's wrong", Karna said.
"Royals or not, no one can go against King's order, mitr", Duryodhan said as he stood up. "So you will go instead to drop her to Indraprastha", he added.
"I won't go as a King, then", Karna said firmly. Duryodhan looked at him, fearing he's leaving the crown.
"I won't disrespect you. I won't leave your side too. You are my best friend. I will abide by your wishes but at the same time, I can't do adharm", Karna said calmly and kept his hand on Duryodhan's shoulder.
"So, I will go as a Suta to Indraprastha to drop Vrishali and then come back, wear my crown back and be with you", Karna said.
"What's the adharm here?" Duryodhan asked, confused. Karna sighed. "The adharm of keeping a mother away from her sons", he said.
"Fine...I can't win from you", Duryodhan said but he cracked a smile at the end.
Karna chuckled.
"I will leave in an hour, then. I need to come back as well", Karna said.
"Fine. I will go to Bhanumati. She has been whining about playing chausar with her", Duryodhan said, he smiled thinking about his lady love.
Karna laughed. "Ok...lover boy", Karna teased making Duryodhan blush.
He went out of the room and walked to Kunti's chamber. His heart broke seeing her wiping her tears and trying to write a letter.
"Mata", he said gently and Kunti smiled seeing her eldest.
"Come inside, putr. How many times, should I tell you, you don't need to ask", Kunti said. Karna smiled and entered inside.
He sat beside her. "Are you crying?" He asked softly and Kunti sighed.
"I am missing them, Karn and I lost this chance to go to them", Kunti said. Karna sighed as his shoulders slumped. How could Dritrashtra do this?
"I will give your message to them", Karna promised her. "And, I will make sure we visit Indraprastha, soon", Karna assured her.
"I trust you with it", Kunti smiled and gave him, the letter.
Karna took it. He took her blessings.
"Vrishali", she called out. Vrishali came from one of the chambers. "She's with you?" Karna asked in shock.
"Yes. She's a sweet girl", Kunti praised. Karn rolled his eyes. She's far from sweet. If only, Kunti saw her in her childhood.
Karna chuckled to himself remembering that time. "Come with me", he said to Vrishali. "I will drop you to Indraprastha", he said.
Vrishali raised her eyebrows. "You don't need to be troubled, Ang-naresh. I can go on my own", Vrishali said.
"Why you must argue about everything? You are not going alone. It's not safe", Karna said. "Look who's talking about arguing on everything" Vrishali whined. "I can be safe. But...I am not going with you. I am a common girl and you're a king", Vrishali said again.
"I am not a king till I am going with you", Karna said frustrated. "I will go as a Suta only", he said.
"Still...", she muttered. "Do you question my intentions?" He asked her back, straightforwardly. "No. Of course not. But, I don't want any war considering the enmity between you and Kumar Arjun", she explained.
"I am just going to drop you", he assured. "And until and unless, he says anything, I won't do anything", he added.
"We'll see", she muttered and exchanged glance with Kunti. Karna shook his head at her. He rolled his eyes in annoyance.
