Chapter Sixty Seven

"What are you going to do with me?" Khyati asked.

She was dreading the future. Karna was so angry and she could see it.

"It would be really wise if you stay silent and don't test my patience", Karna said, seriously to her and she gulped. His anger was justified but it scared her.

Karna was feeling very tensed sensing the delay, that was caused. He hoped that Urvi was waiting for him.

Pukhya

"Has your princess already chosen someone else that she isn't even looking at any of us?" One king roared.

"What an arrogant princess!" Another king exclaimed.

"Let's go from here and leave her like this. No one should marry her as her arrogance and pride is too much. She should be left to die alone", another king screeched.

Urvi's eyes welled up with tears.

Arjun was also there. That was another thing. She thought even Arjun wanted only friendship with her. However, he did like her and expressed his wish to fulfil the desires of their mothers. She had told him that he liked her but doesn't love her. However, he said love will eventually happen in the journey.

But, she refused firmly and told him that she liked someone else. He respected her choice but she was quite aware of how furious he would be seeing her putting the garland around Karn's neck.

Speaking of Karna, she thought where was he?!

The court was going to turn in war zone or she was going to get abducted by someone if he didn't come sooner.

Arjun was there to protect her but he was going to get overwhelmed by so many kings and princes as his brothers were not here this time. Anyways, her mother was likely going to force her to marry Arjun and he looked concerned regarding that as her desired husband hadn't arrived yet.

"Be quick, Urvi. What has happened to you? Take the garland and choose someone, putri", her mother said.

Urvi looked at her with tears. "I don't want any of them, mata. I want Angraj. I want to marry him and only him", she said in a hushed voice.

"Urvi", her mother sighed. "You are a princess. You can't choose a low born", she said.

"He's a king", Urvi exclaimed.

"But not a kshatriya", Her mother snapped. She held Urvi's hand and tried to take her in direction of Arjun as both of them panicked.

"Your work is done, maharani", A soldier appeared. "Angraj has been held back till the Princess chooses someone from the royals", he added.

Urvi was taken aback.

"What?" She asked in a choked voice and looked at her mother in shock. "Maa", she said and her mother looked away.

Pukhya Queen glared at the soldier and indicated him to go and he went.

"How could you do this with your own daughter?" Urvi screeched. "Is your ego that big that you couldn't think for once for your only daughter's happiness? Why mata? Why?!" Urvi cried in pain.

She had broken down completely by her mother's betrayal.

"I will do what you say", Urvi said. "If you want your daughter suffering then your wish will be fulfilled. You will see your daughter suffering by marrying someone whom she doesn't love. And, now that the Kings feel that I have insulted them due to my arrogance, my life won't be great", Urvi said.

"I won't garland Arjun and destroy his happiness as we both don't love each other. His liking is only because of your and kaki's wishes. Though, he doesn't realise that but he will soon. The only difference being, Kunti kaki wouldn't have done what you have done", Urvi added.

She looked at a random king who looked quite elder to her, nevertheless, she decided to garland him only.

"Putri, I didn't want you to leave this comfortable life", her mother explained, trying to convince her. "I wanted you to be the happiest and marry someone from the royals and live like the Queen you are", her mother added.

Urvi just shook her head. "I wish you change your mentality. This will take you nowhere", Urvi said, calmly.

She marched towards that king until she heard footsteps.

She turned and saw Angraj Karna. He was looking furious and breathing heavily in anger and possibly due to tiredness as he came faster than average speed because of the Queen.

Urvi was happily going to go to him when an inner voice mocked her, "Don't Urvi. He will insult you and leave you alone. You will be rejected and no one will marry you. And, why won't insult you? Your mother did so wrong with him. Don't be a fool and expect him to marry you happily"

Her heart shattered but she realised that nothing could be done now.

She shared a painful eyelock with Karn and he could immediately guess her thoughts. He knew her so well by now.

She turned to that king who looked like an uncle to her and was looking at her with lust. She was getting scared and uncomfortable but proceeded anyways.

She took the garland with shivering hands and raised it up as that king lowered his head a bit so that she could make him wear the garland.

However, she felt a gentle and firm hold on her hand. Gentle, to not hurt her but firm enough, to prevent her from escaping.

She looked up to see Karna was holding her.

He took the garland and threw it on the ground. He lifted her up and threw her on his shoulder.

"Angraj!" Arjun shouted.

"I am your friend's choice", Karna replied back and Urvi nodded, shocking Arjun, but he stayed back, respecting Urvi's wishes though he didn't like Karn a bit.

"How can she marry a Suta?"

"Fight him and take her"

"What a crime to choose a low born!"

"Fight me then", Karna shouted as Urvi cried. She was so hurt by people insulting her for her choice and thinking of her as a price to win.

Karn glared at the Queen. "Now I will show you what I can do. I will take your daughter in front of you and you won't be able to do anything. You shouldn't have risked lives of my wives and betrayed your daughter", Karna added.

The Kings didn't dare to step to fight. All warriors from Hastinapura were so powerful that challenging them was simply a stupidity.

Karna turned around and marched outside.

The Pukhya king and Queen knew they shouldn't challenge Karna as he was a mighty warrior and Urvi won't come back at all. She had wanted to marry Angraj only. None of the Kings wouldn't dare to.

Arjun, who would easily duel with Karna, wouldn't go to as he wasn't going to go against Urvi's wishes.

So they ended the ceremony, frustratingly.

Urvi tightened her hold on Karna as she sobbed. "I thought you would hate me", she said.

Karna smiled. "How can I hate the girl I love so much?" He asked. Urvi smiled hearing it and snuggled closer to him as he tightened his hold on her, in his protective-ness and possessive-ness.

He stepped on the chariot and let Urvi stand. She was shocked seeing a girl captive but didn't question.

They moved forward.

Urvi wiped her tears. Karna pulled her in a hug. "Everything is alright", Karna said to Urvi who nodded, crying happily and hugging him back.

"Will we go to Anga?" She asked excitedly.

"Later", Karna replied firmly and glared at Khyati, making her look down in fear. "I have some work to do", he added.
