Chapter Sixty Nine
"What are you saying?!" Karna asked.
"If you don't marry me, we will have no protection. Pukhya Queen and king are going to attack us, any time, soon", Khyati said.
Karna looked at his wives who nodded in positive. He turned around to face Khyati, again.
"Ok. I will marry you", he said.
Khyati was overwhelmed. She grinned big and folded her hands as tears fell down her cheeks.
"Thank you Angraj. I swear that I would never forget my boundaries and serve you and the Queens, life long. Despite the things I did, you are doing such a big favour on me", she said gratefully.
Karna glared at her. "Are you serious?" He asked. "Marriage is a sacred bond and no boundaries exist in it. Husband and wife are equal. I am yours as much as you are mine. And, we will live together and make our lives blissful, not serve each other, we will support each other", he said, strongly.
Khyati was really touched by his words as all people bowed in respect. His wives couldn't help but fall more in love with him, even Vasudha looked dreamily at him.
"The marriage will happen tomorrow", Khyati's father, the king said. "Please rest here Angraj and let us repent for the sin we were going to do. It's a request", the king said.
Khyati looked at Karna. He glanced at her and then nodded.
They were taken in a hut in the tribal settlement.
Vasudha stayed with Khyati while Karna and his wives stayed in the Hut, given to them.
Not liking wearing royal clothes among tribals, they chose to wear simple ones and changed into that outfit.
Anga Queens
Khyati
Karna was standing without his Angavastram. He was looking at the sun, bright in the sky.
It had been heard that there was a rule with Draupadi. One who entered inside when other was spending time, an exile of twelve years awaited him.
Now, Karna was aware that whatever happened with Draupadi was really wrong. But, he also felt, that not having your wife for two years would create more misunderstandings between the brothers.
If he had any relation with them, he would have surely advised them, but, he didn't have any relation with them so thinking about it was a stupidity.
Karna could hear music sounds and when he looked at that side, he saw people dancing.
Tribal things.
But, it was sweet.
They were so full of life and away from the world politics and class differences.
He saw Khyati dancing as well and was happy that she was totally fine with the things and the people were really repenting what they did.
He had sent a letter to Duryodhan and asked for him to come with three palanquins.
One for Urvi, other for Khyati and one for Vasudha.
Hopefully, he would reach by morning.
As he saw the sun setting, he decided to complete his practice of archery in night and then eat dinner and sleep.
He went inside the Hut where he was welcomed with numerous topics to talk about, from his wives and loads of fun and laughter.
An inner voice told him to cherish these happy times as much as he can.
God knows what the future holds.
The next day, they all got ready for the wedding and Karna smiled seeing the sight of the familiar flag of Hastinapura.
He hugged Duryodhan and briefed him about the happenings.
"So, even you can abduct someone", Duryodhan teased and Karna got flushed. He went ahead as Duryodhan followed him laughing.
Khyati's outfit
After getting ready, they proceeded towards the Mandap and Karna got married to Khyati there.
Khyati bid farewell to her family and people.
"Can I take these two with me, as well? Angraj", Khyati asked pulling the twin boy and girl who informed Angraj and saved her.
"They are orphans. Her mother was my personal maid. Sadly, they were killed in an attack by wild animals. I have ever since taken care of them. If you allow...", she said.
"You won't seperate us from our mother", the boy said. "Please Angraj", the girl added. Both were crying in fear of separation.
Karna smiled and kneeled down.
"Not even God can separate a mother and her child, then who am I?" He said. He picked the little ones in his arms, "They are my kids", he declared.
Everybody grinned big hearing it.
Khyati took them both and Karna indicated her to sit in the palanquin.
She sat in the palanquin and Urvi sat in her's. Everyone looked confused at the empty palanquin.
"Vasudha. Go and sit in it", Karna ordered her. Vasudha widened her eyes. He indicated her to go and sit and she nodded no. She mouthed that she will walk.
Karna rolled his eyes. "Sit. That's my order. I won't repeat", he said. She opened her mouth to refuse but he glared at her. She gulped and went to sit down in the palanquin.
Karn chuckled.
He folded his hands in greetings and stepped on the chariot. Duryodhan stepped on the same chariot as well.
They set out on their journey to Hastinapura.
"A letter has come from Hastinapura", Duryodhan frowned. "What is it?" Karna asked. Duryodhan opened the letter and read it.
"Arjun is being sent on exile", Duryodhan muttered in shock.
"What?!" Karna yelled.
"But why?" Karna asked, snatching the letter from Duryodhan. He read it again and again.
Apparently, Arjun had barged inside the room when Yudhister and Draupadi were having quality time together and broke the rule, that all had decided to follow.
The reason was he needed to save cows and no warrior would fear an exile and not perform his duty.
It was also written, that Yudhister had been ready to forget it and Draupadi was pleading Arjun to not go and everything was alright but Arjun, being Arjun was adamant and insisted on fulfilling his promise.
Karna was amazed.
"Twelve years without any duel with him", he said to himself. "Life will get boring without him", Karna smirked and Duryodhan laughed.
"No worries. He will return and you can have a great duel with him", Duryodhan said.
"I don't understand why he would keep his bow in her room? We archers can't live without our bows. And, he left it there. Why?" Karna asked, muttering to himself.
"Why do you need to think about it? We are getting rid of him for twelve years, that's the good news", Duryodhan said.
"You still have four other brothers waiting at Indraprastha", Karna joked.
Duryodhan got grumpy.
"Whatever", he mumbled making Karna laugh hard.
"He will leave by tomorrow. Mother Kunti will definitely like to meet her son", Karna said softly. Duryodhan frowned and looked at Karna.
"You need to understand her pain, mitr. And, you need to remember that she is my mother as well. I will want to take her", Karna said.
Duryodhan sighed and nodded.
