Chapter Seventy Four
Karn turned towards Dasyu royals.
"Digvija is my wife now. And, I will make sure she handles all the work and rules. My wives are the Queens of the kingdom and we really don't have a cheap mentality like you", Karna said.
Digvija felt so lucky for having Karn, in her life. She hugged him and cried happily.
"I am taking her", Karna said keeping her in his possessive hold. Without bidding any farewell, they went back.
It was silent throughout the way back to Hastinapura.
But everyone were proud of Karna.
They reached back and decided to go to Bhugat-Gram. They traveled for a short while and reached there.
Karna got pulled in a hug by his parents as he hugged them back. "I want to tell you everything", Karna said and explained them everything that happened in Dasyu land.
Karna and Digvija got married accordingly and took blessings.
"I need to leave for Hastinapura palace, mata. Vasudha and your daughter in laws will stay here as they had to travel a lot and are quite exhausted. Your grandkids will make up your mood", Karna laughed.
Radha and Adhirath grinned.
Khyati chuckled as the twins went towards Radha and Adhirath. "Pitahmah, pitahmahi", They shouted in unison.
Karna smiled and bidding farewell, he and Duryodhan went back for Hastinapura palace.
Karna and Duryodhan entered inside the palace.
They saw everyone tensed.
"Someone has come to meet you", Gandhari told Karn.
"Who?" Karna asked and entered inside the royal court. He saw a whole group of people with men and women.
Who were they?
"They are from the village of Vasudha and demand to take her back", Dritrashtra said.
Karna raised his eyebrows.
"But...her parents said her to live in royal protection after the stunt that was pulled out in the fest. So, I refuse to give her back to you", Karna said.
This enraged the people.
"This is unfair!"
"You are taking advantage of your royal powers"
"A girl can't stay somewhere else for so long"
"Give her back. She should be at her home"
"Is it because of the stunt pulled in fest, really? Or something is going on behind, Angraj?
"Are you forcing her to..."
Instantly, punches landed on the faces of both the men.
Duryodhan had punched them. Karna was shocked by the allegations being put on him and Vasudha and he was frozen at his place.
"I will kill you both", Duryodhan screeched.
"Mitr", Karna said and pulled him back as all panicked and shouted at Duryodhan to control himself.
"When her parents have themselves allowed their daughter, who are you to ask for her back?" Karna asked. "And on what basis, did you dare to put allegations on us and that too...so disgusting?" Karna asked further.
"We are just stating the truth and you dared to attack our men, crown Prince. No one from our community will marry that girl", The head screamed. "Her parents will be abandoned by the community. No one wants to talk to parents of an unmarried daughter", he added.
Karna sighed in disbelief.
Somewhere, the parents were bad. But, they had people's support.
Somewhere, the parents were good and wanted their girl to stay at an unknown house, for her safety, not minding the so called reputation and these good parents were getting abandoned.
Kali era effects had started coming out, it was nearby.
"Angraj will marry her", they heard voice of a lady and saw Vasudha's parents and Vasudha, who apparently came with them, soon after he and Duryodhan left, probably after getting the new of the arrival of villagers.
Vasudha was in tears, saddened by the allegations put by her own people on her.
"We trust our daughter and want her safe. But, for your satisfaction and proving that our daughter is pure, Angraj will marry her. He gave her shelter and protection, he will prove her purity as well", her father said.
"I don't need to prove it. Your daughter is great in itself. They are no one to question your daughter. If you try to prove her worth, they will think they are right. We prove only when we need to show to the world, we are not wrong. We don't feel the need to prove, when we know, we are right", Karna said.
"You can't win from society, Adhirathputr", Bhishma said. "You have to marry her", he added.
"I want to marry you, Angraj", Vasudha whispered. Karna looked at her and she smiled. "I know you are thinking about my opinions. I am happy to marry you. Don't worry", She said. "You are amazing! And, I would be lucky to marry you", she said.
"Ok...I will marry you", Karna said. "I will marry her", he said firmly.
"Her family has the royals in contact with them. You abandoning them won't really affect them so you can leave", Karna said to the villagers who left.
"The wedding will happen in evening", Bhishma announced.
The court got dispersed.
Vasudha was taken by her parents and they talked well with her about her life events and how she needs to handle it.
Karna was taken by Kunti.
"Life brings shocking events, again and again, putr. You have to fight them and stand out strong", Kunti explained.
"You have many wives, now Karn. Thankfully, they have a strong bond of sisters. But, they would always want your attention and feel sad when it is given to some other wife. The preferences and misunderstanding gives rise to competition which is not healthy. While, in this royal work, the rivalry of brothers and plenty other things, you may get exhausted. But, you need to give equal time to all your wives and make sure they feel loved and happy", she said to him.
"Khyati is already parenting two kids with you. And, soon you will have many more. So, you need to be mature enough to handle everything. Problems will come, but don't escape from them, fight them. Your children will be affected by the relations you have with your wives. They shouldn't be rivals to each other by misunderstanding your love for one more than other. They should live in harmony. This Kingdom is already suffering by rivalry of brothers. Make sure, it doesn't happen again", she said.
Karna smiled.
"I will take care of it, mata", he promised. Kunti smiled and cupped his cheeks.
"Remember you are the eldest among the six. The other five will also follow your footsteps, so be careful of that too", she said absent minded.
"Mata", Karna scrunched his face in confusion.
Kunti's face paled.
"I mean..." She stuttered. "I had told you that I want you to be with my sons in your teenage years and you said our bond is much older than me being mother to the five. So, you are my eldest", Kunti said with unshed tears.
Karna smiled softly. "Indeed", he whispered. "And, you are my mata", he said.
Kunti chuckled in tears.
Afterwards, he took her permission and went to get ready for his marriage.
As the evening came, Karna married Vasudha.
