Chapter Fifty Two

With great enthusiasm, the fest began.

A number of competitions were organised to entertain the general public and royals.

Well...Yes. Even the general public, who ever wanted to come in fest, were invited to participate in the contests.

The first was the race.

Different people came to join it. Everyone from everywhere was allowed.

The race path was explained with all the rules and prices. Names of participants were announced and soon, the race begin.

The royals were excited as their public was representing the kingdom.

There was loads of excitement.

And the winner was from Panchal.

The royals of that kingdom cheered.

Karna exchanged smiles with his wives seeing everybody enjoying.

Next was the contest for charioteers.

This time, instead of running, the participants had to handle their chariots and reach the winning spot.

"I will also participate", Urvi stood up enthusiastically.

Everybody gaped at her.

Karna saw their expressions and rolled his eyes.

"No. Royals don't participate in activities of low born", her mother scolded her.

"Actually, you are wrong", Karna stood up, furiously. "It is us who handle you, so called warriors in war and ensure you are safe by going in other directions, whenever necessary. Your enemies kill us before to make you helpless so that no one can handle your chariot. So, I can say it that we are even more respected and capable than you", Karna said.

He stared briefly at Abhilasha as they remembered their first ever meeting and conversation.

Abhilasha blushed and looked down as Karna smiled.

"So, can you say now that it is an easy task? Why don't you go for once in the battlefield handling the chariot and analysing the enemy's moves? Or, if not that, then just handling the chariot in this contest and instructing the horses just by the ropes to move in specific directions?" Karna asked, crossing his arms and tilting his head, slightly in a mocking way.

"How dare you insult my wife?" Asked Urvi's father.

"I stated the facts", Karna admitted in a deadly and low voice that made the king gulp as Karna narrowed his eyes at him. "Which you royals", he said in a sharp tone. "Have a hard time to accept".

"And, I agree with Angraj on this, father", Urvi said firmly as she stood beside him. Karna looked at her. "I don't think any job is low than others. I want to participate in this contest and I don't think there is any caste rule here?" Urvi asked.

"It's not. While, obviously, only charioteers will come to participate in it, anyone else apart from that field, who's willing to participate, can enter in the contest, as well", Karna answered.

Bhishma smiled at Karna impressed.

What was this boy made of?

"I request you both to kindly allow your daughter to participate if she wants too", Bhishma announced.

Her parents reluctantly agreed.

"But, a person should be there standing on the chariot while you handle it. It's to increase the difficulty, to keep that person safe for whom you have taken the responsibility while also managing the speed to win the competition, through the rough path", Karna said.

Kunti and four brothers glanced at Arjun, sure it would be him. Arjun, however, thought something else, knowing his best friend well and his neutral expressions said, that he had no problem with her choice.

"Angraj", Urvi said.

Arjun smirked. He knew it. Urvi would choose the person who spoke for her and want to take him on the ride.

He calmed down Bheem who was going to protest.

Karna was taken aback.

"Me?" He asked, puzzled.

"Yes. I want to take you with me. You spoke for me so you will come with me", she said.

"Fine then", he said, as he passed her a challenging look which she gladly accepted with a smirk.

Urvi went down in the field excitedly and stepped on her chariot. Karna followed her.

"While it's hard to see a princess here, I request you all to participate with your full strength. You shouldn't pretend to fail just because I am a royal and that's not my request, but my order", Urvi said as she knew even if she requests, they would not give their hundred percent in the race.

They nodded.

Karna chuckled in amazement looking at her.

The contest began.

Urvi was doing exceptionally well that all professional charioteers were getting jealous by her speed.

Karna was enjoying the ride.

"From where did you learn it?" He shouted because of the speed. "You must have not went in the gurukul for charioteers, had you?" He asked.

Urvi smiled.

"Just like you learnt archery, I learnt this and it was quite easier as I had no restrictions. Just one order and the teacher was there to teach", Urvi said.

"Behind your parents back", Karna added.

"Correct", Urvi smirked.

Karna laughed hearing it.

At last, Urvi won the contest.

Karn was amazed and wanting one more ride. He was so in disbelief at the end as all stood up amazed at her skills.

"Damn it", Karna muttered.

Urvi proudly went to get her prize and then they went back upstairs, where their families were.

Karna looked at Adhirath to see he was not happy with his debate with Urvi's mother. He shared a puppy look with Radha who gave an assuring look to her son back that she will explain his father.

Kunti felt an emotional turmoil in her heart seeing Karna bond with Radha.

Her son...

"Is your father angry?" Duryodhan asked in whisper.

"I am gonna get it", Karna scratched the back of his neck in nervousness and fear as everybody laughed. (Even the Pandavas, Draupadi, Kunti, Krishna and Balrama)

Adhirath kept glaring at his son.

Karna avoided looking at him.

"Stop scolding my son, every chance you get. Why do you trouble him so much?" Radha asked.

"I trouble him?" Adhirath asked in shock at his wife siding with their son. "Have you seen up to what mischiefs he has been lately?" Adhirath asked.

"Let it be Adhirath", Kunti said. She smiled at her son as Karna smiled at her back.

The fest moved forward.

It was the contest for food.

Everybody was invited again.

They had to eat some sweets from plates in a limited time. Who ever at the most in that time span would win.

Bheem stood up and his brothers cheered for him.

"Remember bhrata Bheem, you have to only eat your food, if you eat other's, you will be disqualified", Nakul teased.

It earned laughs from everyone as Bheem glared at Nakul.

"Mata", Nakul complained.

"Bheem", Kunti said in a warning voice and Bheem, huffed. He stopped glaring at his naughty younger brother.

Karna's eyes stung as he remembered Shon.

Damn it!

Bheem went towards the seat and sat on it. Other participants settled down as well and sweets were offered.

Bheem looked in delight and the contest began.

Everyone started eating sweets as the time went forward. Obviously, it was Bheem who was winning.

He finished the sweets just as the time ended and without waiting for results, he lunged towards the person who was serving and snatched the plate from him, eating the sweets quite happily.

Arjun covered his face but a smile rested on his lips.

After he came back, it was time for a dance competition.

Several girls stood up and went to the stage.

Some girls got tired in between and stopped while others kept going on.

One girl in particular, her dance spoke of love.

Everyone were mesmerised seeing her.

She was lost in her world and she looked so elegant that the noise created with enthusiasm stopped to just enjoy her ethereal performance in silence.

She stopped dancing and everyone gave her a round of applause.

Hastinapura royals stood up and clapped in mesmerised state, seeing her.

The tune rang in their ears continously.

Karn's eyes got stuck on her.

She looked at in front as their eyes met and he felt like he lost himself somewhere.

"Amazing. Beautiful. Outstanding", he said and she folded her hands and bowed.

"Who are you?" Karna asked.

"Vasudha"
