Chapter Fifty Four
After so much of joy and pleasant environment, all went to see the play.
They were surprised to know that Karna and his wives were doing the play instead of someone else.
It was impractical to think that they did it in just a day. However, it was believable when they got to know, Karna and his wives had been preparing since a while.
The play was on different avatars of Goddess Parvati and Karna had the job of narrating everything. He was playing the role of Lord Shiva and telling stories to Nandi and his companions, played by his ministers.
Everyone settled down as the play began.
The stage got covered with curtains and opened again to see Anga Queens, Urvi and Digvija dressed in the attire of Goddess and performing a dance.
And the play began.
Kirti as Goddess Sati
Vrushali as Goddess Parvati
Supriya as Goddess Tara
Arundhati as Goddess Kali
Abhilasha as Goddess Yogmaya
Esha as Goddess Chamunda
Kalyani as Goddess Katyayani
Prakirti as Goddess Tripura Sundari
Urvi as Goddess Baglamukhi
Digvija as Goddess Bhairavi
The stage had one more floor on it. Where Karna sat with the other men, while, below the stories of the Goddesses were being enacted.
After the play was over, the curtains dropped and opened after a few moments.
On a big stone, Vasudha was sitting, clad in a beautiful snow...white outfit with flower ornaments. She had her hand opened in blessing. Karna's wives, Urvi and Digvija surrounded her, standing beside and behind her with fierce looks on their faces.
Karna, who had come down from the stage, came in the centre and folded his hands.
Everybody were simply delighted seeing it.
"I hope you all liked the play", Karna said. "This was just an attempt by us devotees to show the greatness of Mata to you all", Karna said.
Everyone had tears in their eyes by the amazing portrayal.
They all stood up for aarti for the Goddess. They went towards the temple where the idol was and Karna and his wives along with his parents did the aarti. He forwarded the aarti thal and Urvi, Digvija and Vasudha did the aarti. Followed by Duryodhan and Yudhister, at which Duryodhan made a face but Karna consoled him. Afterwards, all did the aarti and then the fest officially ended.
"Before you go, there are some shops set by people. It would be really great if you visit them", Karna said.
They went near the shops and were amazed seeing the preparations made by the people. So beautiful clothes, accessories and even written work. Mirrors, shoes and flowers ornaments and bouquets. Even shops had weapons and toys.
"Enjoy shopping", Karna said as all went.
"Keep a close eye on them, royals are the perfect example of good for nothing arrogance which I don't want, they shouldn't hurt my people", Karna muttered to Duryodhan.
Duryodhan nodded at him.
Karna was a very caring ruler, for sure.
"Come. Let's take a stroll", he said to his wives. "Please take care of the decorum in the market, in our absence", Karna said politely to Urvi, Digvija and Vasudha.
Vasudha and Digvija got busy while Urvi glanced at Karna going with his wives.
Wish even I was one of them, she gasped at her thoughts.
What the heck was that?!
Her mother had dreamt of marrying her to Arjun, which by the way none of both wanted as they had best friendship, and here she was thinking of Angraj Karna, his arch rival.
What was even wrong with her? Since a few days, she didn't feel like herself at all.
"Urvi", she heard Digvija's voice and saw her and Vasudha looking at her in concern. She shook her head, smiled (that was fake, to hide her troubled state) she went ahead to join them.
Gosh! Angraj Karna was something else only.
Here, Karna was peacefully strolling with his wives in the palace garden as they talked about how the day went so well and it ended with the topic of Vasudha, which was a big concern. In midst, Karna told them about the upcoming war which was being led by Digvija.
"Maharaj!"
They turned around and saw a soldier coming to them in panick. "Chedi king, Shishupala is misbehaving with the common people", the soldier said in panick.
Karna and his wives, ran.
They reached the market area to see that demon of a king was snidely commenting on Digvija.
It made Karn's blood boil.
"Gosh. If a beautiful and fierce woman like you, scolds me every day, I will literally leave all my work to just listen to it", it was disgusting by the intention he spoke it off.
Karna stepped forward.
Digvija was glaring at that evil king and the warning in her eyes could be seen by all, except that brainless.
"Why don't you...become my Queen?" Asked Shishupala.
Digvija scrunched her face in disgust as did all others. Yudhister was finding it hard to control his brothers when he was himself, full of rage.
"I suggest you remember your limits, Chedi-Naresh", said Karna as he controlled the urge to kick him out.
"Your shenanigans won't be entertained here", he added.
"I don't listen to low caste born", Shishupala said. That was enough to bring Duryodhan in front. He was not going to bear any insult towards Karna.
"Chedi-Naresh. He has got a kingdom by his own merit and currently you are standing in his kingdom only. I am sure no one here would entertain an insult towards their king at all", Duryodhan said sweetly but even he wanted to punch Shishupala.
Karna smirked as Shishupala looked around to see Anga common people glaring at him for insulting their king.
"And by the way, even he's a low born, he's far better than you ever will be", Digvija said.
Karna smiled hearing it while Shishupala looked furious.
"The beauty you want, he has it. (Anga Queens) Even after being a low born while you, yourself being a king are just making a fool of yourself and showing your desperation", Digvija added.
"I guess you should not forget what you are before trying to remind any other person what they are", she ended.
Shishupala was red in embarrassment. He didn't say anything and walked away making almost everybody sigh in relief.
Karna gratefully looked at Digvija who smiled back.
"Continue shopping. Don't mind him", Karna announced and everything was forgotten as no one wanted to ruin their moods over that nonsense man.
"I hope you liked the arrangements, Rajmata", Karna said politely as Kunti, Pandavas and Draupadi approached him.
Kunti smiled at him and caressed his cheeks.
"Call me Mata, only. Putr", she requested and Karna smiled softly.
"Mata", Karna called her in an affectionate and respectful tone which melted Kunti's heart instantly. Only, if he knew that he has full rights to call her mother instead of Queen Mother. That, he's her first born son.
"Mata", Bheem complained as he disliked Karna. Kunti passed him a glare and he stopped.
"Don't worry. She will be always your mother", Karna said. "Our bond won't affect your's. Even if I am like her son, in the eyes of the world and by blood, you five are her sons", Karna said.
No Putr, even you are my son by blood, Kunti thought.
"It's good that you haven't forgotten you are not Queen's son. I thought you will forget your lineage and think of yourself as a prince just because my mother shows you affection", Arjun said, chuckling.
Karn's eyes darkened hearing it.
