Chapter Fifteen

"Arya?" Kirti and Vrushali came in front of Karna who pulled them in a hug. "Arya, what happened in Kalinga?" Kirti asked Karna. Karna shook his head. "Well...everything just went with a flow", he chuckled.

"Arya", Kirti said. "Ok. I am telling you", he sighed. "So what happened was...", he explained everything to his wives and ended with his promise to Supriya.

The wives gaped at him. "So much happened?" Vrushali asked in shock. Karna nodded and looked down. "Bhrata?" Kirti asked. Duryodhana smiled sheepishly. "I did it", he said slowly.

"Come in the court", Bhishma said angrily. Everyone entered the court. All settled on their seats and Kunti and Gandhari went upstairs. Karna, Vrushali, Supriya and Kirti stood in between the court along with Duryodhana and Bhanumati. The environment was tensed.

"Any justifications for what you did back in the swayamvar?" Asked Bhishma.

"Pitahmah. I know my actions are not justified in any case but I love Bhanumati", Duryodhan said. "Does she love you?" Bhishma asked back. "Pitahmah...", Duryodhan tried to say but got stopped by Bhishma.

"No. It's still not justified. You brought a girl against her wishes. That's just not done. And, Karna? How could you support him?" Bhishma asked. "I did what I was supposed to do, Mahamahim. I won't give any justifications for that", Karna replied.

Elders and Pandavas glared at him.

"No. It's really wrong. You will get punished for that...", Dronacharya said. "If supporting my friend, makes me get a punishment, I am ready to take it", Karna said respectfully and Duryodhana felt really lucky and happy.

"Before giving us any punishment, I would like to remind you that Pitahmah, even you kidnapped my grandmothers from their swayamvar. You took them on your chariot and threatened to wage war if anyone dared to stop you. You didn't even care to ask what they wanted and knew well that no one would challenge you to a duel", Duryodhana said calmly.

Bhishma felt angry. "Learn to practice what you preach, Pitahmah", he said further. "Duryodhan!" Elders shouted angrily. Even Dhritrashtra and Gandhari were furious at his rude behavior. "Be in your boundaries, Duryodhana. You can't talk to elders like that", Yudhister said.

"Of course", Duryodhan rolled his eyes. "And he can talk in whichever way he wants to, with my mitr. For an action, he committed years ago but I can't remind him, because he's elder and I am rude if I talk about that, it's adharm", Duryodhana said sarcastically.

This thing!

This thing is what Karna admired in his friend. He didn't do a facade of dharma and was ready to be called rude and arrogant. He never lectured people on something, he, himself didn't do or believe in. He never justified his actions. Unlike, other people here who were even dangerous than chameleons.

Could you blame him for being Duryodhan's friend?

"Leaving all that, can't we welcome my daughter in laws?" Asked Gandhari lovingly. All tensed environment faded as everyone obeyed to the Queen's demands. They forgot their anger for a while and decided to welcome the newly wedded brides.

They felt really bad as the girls had to witness this drama as soon as they arrived here.

Karna looked at Vrushali to see she was giving him a nod but he knew that she was troubled and was awaiting discussion while he saw Kirti looking ahead sadly and turning her face.

Oh no!

The Mandap was already prepared in the court as per Dhritrashtra's orders.

Karna wanted to talk to Kirti but he stayed silent.

Two fire places were set where Karn-Supriya, Duryodhan-Bhanumati got married.

(Outfits are same as in the show, Suryaputra Karn)

Gandhari welcomed the brides while Vrushali and Kirti came ahead to welcome Supriya as per the rituals as the wives had to welcome other wife of their husband. Karna saw Kirti's face morphed in anger and sadness. He felt guilty at this.

Supriya noticed it too and looked at Karna. Karna gave her an assuring look and they were sent in their rooms.

They reached the hall and Duryodhana and Bhanumati left for their room.

Kirti stood still at her place. Karna turned around and saw her not moving. He sighed. "Kirti. Come here", Karna said and Kirti followed her husband's command without arguing. He held her hand and they went ahead.

"Are you angry with me?" Karna asked Kirti as they followed Vrushali and Supriya.

Vrushali knew Karn since childhood and also was elder, so she was helping Supriya settle in. However, Kirti needed to be consoled considering the fact that she ran away with him and loved him a lot but knew him only for a short while. As a husband, it was his duty to console her.

"No", Kirti lied. Karna shook his head. "You are lying to me", he told her. "I know you are angry with me", Karna said. Kirti looked at him and Karna noticed the unshed tears in her eyes.

"I know that I brought you pain and you can punish me for it. But, before that, I want you to listen to my side", Karna said and told her everything including him meeting Supriya, Duryodhan kidnapping Bhanumati, Queen's demand, Bhanumati's refusal and concern, his duty and his promise as per Duryodhan's commands.

"I was upset but I am ok. I understand", Kirti said, while Karna smiled. "But Arya...", Kirti sighed and Karna looked at her. "I told you before and I am telling you now", she said as they entered in the room gaining Vrushali and Supriya's attention. The guard outside closed the door for their privacy and Karna muttered a thank you.

"Arya, you need to stop supporting bhrata Duryodhana, in everything", Kirti said. "What do you mean?" He asked. "Arya, your support is the thing that he trusts in more than himself and that is the issue here", Kirti sighed.

"Don't speak in riddles, Kirti", Karna frowned.

"Karn. Your every act in his favour encourages him. Today, you kidnapped a princess, next time you will support him in another crime followed by another eventually ending with something worse. So you need to stop supporting him", Vrushali explained.

"I am his friend", Karna said in his defence. "Arya", Supriya stood up from the bed. "Friend does not leave your side in good and bad times but true friend is one who doesn't let any bad time appear in your life. Your support will make him do something that will bring his doom. Once he knows, that you will support him in only right things, he will stop commiting crimes", Supriya said.

"I never want his bad...", Karna muttered. His wives came closer to him.

"We know that", Kirti said, as a matter of fact. "However, the problem is not your support, it's your silence which is being counted as a support. I know whatever you are doing is to just return everything he has done for you and it's good. But, we know you are not doing it by heart, rather you are forcing yourself to be silent in name of your duty. Because, you don't consider yourself as his friend that you can scold him but you consider yourself as someone upon whom he has done a favour. And, this thought will bring major consequences in future", Kirti explained to him.

"Silence is a power or weakness, it totally depends on the situation. When someone criticises you, silence is the best answer. Because, your actions prove your worth than your words. But, when it's the case of good and bad, right or wrong, silence is the thing that counts as weakness. Seeing something wrong happening is even more worse and wrong than doing something that is a crime. It's this reason, for which you hate Pandavas but for your friendship, you are doing the same thing. You may not see anyone dying but you are supporting him in things like abduction", Vrushali said gently.

"Arya. Today you helped him abduct a princess which is another way of killing someone's soul. I know he will not harm any innocent and you won't let him do that but he will surely harm the Pandavas. Mark my words, you will stay silent that time for your friendship but if you are getting convinced rather than able to speak your point, it's not friendship, Arya, it's a relationship of subordination to your superior. You are well aware that he wants you to defeat Arjun. Defeat his enemies, Pandavas. He knows that you hate them and won't speak for them. Otherwise, there are many warriors, who if not skilled in archery may be skilled in something else, but he chose you", Supriya said.

"While I want this friendship as he cares for you a lot, no matter what the aim is but all my concern is that you don't loose your path while creating one for him. Don't commit the acts for which you hate Pandavas and don't get involved in these enmity of cousins as it has nothing to do with us. We have to focus only on one thing and that is the revolution, we need to bring in this caste based world", Vrushali said.
