I walk up to Carter after getting my lunch. "Happy Birthday!" I say with his back turned to me. He turns around.

"Oh, hey, thanks!" He gives me a kiss and we go sit down.

"Guess what I got?" Lindsay says, coming over with a box.

"Is that a cake?" Ryan asks.

"No. It's a puppy," she says.

"Well, in that case, you don't get to pet him."

"I'm guessing there's enough to share?" Nikki asks.

"The boys' say," says Lindsay.

"Dig in," says Carter.

"So what time's the party?" I ask.

"Who says you're even invited?" Asks Carter.

"I do."

"I know. And seven."

"I'll be there. Now, let us eat cake!"
