I stop my bike and take off my helmet before ringing the doorbell to Lindsay's house. A woman opens the door.

"Hi Ms. Merlin, is Lindsay home?"

"Hey, Sarah. Yeah, she's in her bedroom, go right on up. Lindsay! You have a visitor!" I walk up the stairs and into Lindsay's room.

"Hey," I say.

"Hey, shouldn't you be doing homework?" Lindsay asks.

"Can't I do it here?"

"Yeah, come here." I jump onto her bed and take my laptop out of my bag. "How's your essay going?"

"You think I'd be here if I started?"

"Yeah, I haven't either." We both laugh.

"Ugh, why's fathead here?" Lindsay's five-year-old brother, Tommy asks, sticking out his tongue.

"Go away muskrat." Lindsay throws a pillow at him.

"Mom!" He runs back to his room. We laugh.
