Finally I'm making progress. After clearing up the misunderstanding with the lycan, he offered me his name, Akato. It is truly foreign, so I should assume that my return to earth set me away from my homeland. I have no reason to fear, though. Akato is kind. He led me to the outskirts of a marvel of a city, where he offered me food before going out to continue the fight against the water demons.

The food he left me is atrocious. Placed in a rectangular box, the meal is a vast mix of organics. There's no beef, only fish, or at least I assumed it's fish. He never gave me a fork either, just a pair of sticks. I assume the grains in the box are meant to be eaten by hand, for I highly doubt the sticks can impale them individually. All of which was stuffed in next to a variety of unidentifiable foodstuffs. I have to force myself to eat it, much like how a child is forced to eat new food. What sick mind thought this was a good way to live? My appetite is of no concern, however. I need to get my thoughts straightened out.

Turning to the window, I look out for some image to lose my thoughts in. It wasn't much of a search. This age is filled with mind numbing distractions. Primarily, I examined a skyscraper, or at least that's what my fellow slave called it back in Hell. Either way, the vast array of light emanating from it formed an amusing picture of an... anime? Perhaps I should have been more attentive towards the stories of my prison mates. Which of course brings me to the thought of the rebellion I started.

I fear a great deal for the ones I left behind. Succubi and imps are tricky, but Behemoths? Without my aid I doubt it will end well. The size of their swords are massive. It is as though they were made to sweep away entire battle lines. Regardless of what they were made for, it takes special training and conditioning to successfully repel them; something my fellows lacked.

I let out a deep sigh. I shouldn't have rebelled. All I changed was the severity of torture. I'm sure Satan ordered it so. A rebellion in Hell? He would be foolish not to speed the production in the Demon Forge. Even still, I can't mope about my mistakes. I started that fight. Now, I have to petition his rival, God, to fight with me. Only question is, how in Odin's name am I supposed to find him. Perhaps the lycan knows?

I look lazily towards the devastation my escape caused. The watery demons were no doubt sent to capture Satan's prized experiment. The scale though... A massive town such as this to be flooded so completely. I ponder awhile on where the shoreline began. I assume it's away from the buildings, yet still within walking distance from them. Scanning the wreckage I notice a light in the water. It's far too bright to be man made. It may be the source of the flood.

Taking up my swords, I rush off to find my companion. I may be strong, but I'm not stupid enough to let that fact go to my head. Everyone needs a comrade on the battlefield. Those who think otherwise learn that numbers overwhelm. It takes a long time to find Akato. In the winding roads of the town, I find myself lost again and again. Yet at the same time I end up going in circles. I grit my teeth. I wasn't getting anywhere like this.

Hearing clanking in the distance, I all but sprint towards it, knowing all too well the sound of combat.

Around the corner of one building, I witness Akato dueling a trio of demons. Each are weak familiars at best, but just because one can tear through paper doesn't mean one can't get cut by it. Akato effortlessly dodges past a suicidal attack from the one to his right, cutting it down as it realizes it's mistake. Another demon to the left strikes downward with a liquid blade. But it fights in vain, Akato quickly parries the blow and follows through with a brutal yet precise blow to its midsection. The demon de morphs into a puddle of water, just like its companion. I can't help but marvel at the disciplined attacks made by the lycan. My veterans eye, however, can tell he has never been in a truly pitched battle, only duels.

In my state of observance, I failed to notice the final demon had spotted me. It charged for me, spear and shield in hand, clearly believing that I must be the lesser of two evils. It guessed incorrectly. I lashed out with a single blade. I had too much disdain for it to use both swords. I hadn't even used a technique of any kind. Just brute force was used. My blade sliced through its shield and cut into its head effortlessly.

Turning to Akato, I attempted to relay my new found information. I wave over to him and point my finger in the direction of the unknown light. He looks in that direction.

"Good. Yes. There.", I say nodding my head. Perhaps forced, but if I am capable of forcing down his homeland's sad excuse for food then I know I can force him to understand me.

"Gomen'nasai. Wakarimasen." He tilts his furry head to the right. It's clear he doesn't understand a word I'm saying. Worse, he may be assuming I'm thanking him for that atrocious meal. Siegfried forbid it.

Impatient, I motion for him to follow me. He's confused, but he does understand to follow. I lead him back to the mysterious light, killing any demon that gets in our way. They don't put up much resistance, but it does release some frustration. Luckily, the eerie light source has remained ever luminescent.

I gesture towards it. My companion's eyes shine in awe. His gasps of amazement make clear that I have his interest. It was now a matter of relaying the desire to destroy it. I twirl my dual blades, halting the spin as a hunch down in my battle stance. Luckily, he understands. He hunches down low, sword behind him. He intends to finish it savagely.

The light illuminating the water grew in intensity. Whatever is down there is aware of us.

The water churned heavily with a quickening pace. I tensed as the pressure of the water created a vacuum. Then as it reached its zenith in force, the water exploded in a wide burst. The steaming liquid stung my eyes as well as Akato. The heat was excruciating, a reminder that I am in the mortal plane.

A shining figure rushes from the explosion. I can catch only a glimpse. There are perhaps two foes, but I am incapable of taking initiative with the steam burning my vision. When the steam clears, the shining figure leaps towards us.

Resplendent in white-gold armor, the enemy before me is a magnificent sight. His tower shield and armor is perfectly crafted. The height of his jump indicates either unbelievable strength or that his armor is made from a spectacularly light material. The sword he holds is a bit too ornamental, but seems well crafted enough. The most notable thing about the sword, however, is how he is swinging towards me.

"Well sh*t."

I have them in sight. Two hostiles, one a werewolf and the other a demon. They have to be responsible for the flood.

"Uriel, how's our chances?", I telepathically reach out to the archangel.

"The one on the right has a higher demonic energy. Be careful though, his demeanor screams  brutality."

Taking my Guardian's advice, I swung my sword down towards the demonic swordsman. Uriel empowered the attack, refusing the sword with celestial energy. Before my attack could hit, however, the warrior stepped to the side, dodging my blow effortlessly. He lashed out with his blade against my exposed back, luckily I was just barely able to spin to the left and smash his wrist with the side of my shield. I couldn't press the advantage, however, because the lycan slashed at my leg. Though in no way graceful, I managed to parry his attack with my sword. The dark warrior smashed his blades against my shield, looking for an opening. The lycan and I continuously parried each others blows like fencers in a duel. This went on for some time. Occasionally I managed to move in on the offensive against the demon, only to have switched to parrying his attacks and blocking the lycan blows. Whenever Uriel cast a spell against our opponents they would clobber against my defense so that I'd be stuck the way I was.

   "Menelaus! The lycan!", Harumi interjected.

I was currently having my shield facing the werewolf so I wouldn't have to worry about him. When I focused on him , however, I understood why I hadn't felt much resistance: he was activating some kind of runes etched along his katana.

"Khronos!", the lycan ordered his ally.

The dark warrior, Khronos, jumped out of the way. I raised my shield up to the lycan and activated the celestial energies within.

"Holy Spirit, be mine shield and protect me from mine enemies. Let the weak be strong, let the poor be rich, lend me your power, LUMINOSITE ETERNELLE!"

The shield activated once again, enveloping me in a cocoon of light. Now to take on the lycan's little trick. He let out a blood curdling scream as he raised his weapon up high.

"Now, begone demon! And tell your master I'm coming for him!", the man beast roared.

   ...Wait...He speaks ancestral?

Before I could question him, he brought down his katana like a headsman's axe. The soft blue glow of his runes burst to life, sending a shock wave rushing towards me. I held on to my shield for dear life as the attack surrounded the barrier. The flood waters pouring into the city from the sea split in half; for just a moment it resembled the crossing of the Red Sea.

Slowly the force of the attack dissipated. The crevice in the ocean reformed into the unsteady flat that sea vessels are all too familiar with. Much of the shallow water we stood in must have been incinerated since a thick mist has appeared.

Alright, I'm still alive. Already off to a good start. Is Harumi okay?

I struggle to see through the heavy mist. Sure enough I am able to see her on top of a pile of bent iron and steel. She doesn't seem injured or even fazed by what just happened. Actually, she looks rather well off. With that tight, strong figure of her's...

"Shouldn't you be more concerned about your opponents?", Uriel snarked.

I retorted back, "Hey, I'm a guy. Is it so wrong that I like what I see?"

"So long as you adorn my armor and wield my sword, yes. It is very wrong. Have some dignity.", he scolded me like a parent.

I rolled my eyes. He is right though. I need to focus on the demons. But, if they can speak ancestral like me, is it possible they can help me?

As the mist clears, it becomes apparent they were just as overwhelmed by that as I was. They hadn't moved at all. Now is the best time to question them.

"You there, Lycan", I bark, "what do you know about celestial possession?"

Apparently they are taken back as much as I am that we can understand each other. The two contemplate their response before finally Khronos speaks.

"I've seen my share of possessions as is. Though I admit I'm ignorant of how it works. But enough of that. What are you? And why are you flooding this city?"

"Hold up", the Werewolf interrupts, "you could speak Japanese this whole time! Why didn't you say so?"

His companion answers before I can understand what I'm watching, "I don't speak Japanese, nor have I ever spoken it. But why didn't you mention you could understand German?"

They go on like this for a good while before I finally snap.

"Both of you shut up and explain what the *uck you're even doing here!"

Both of them bite back at me venomously. And the argument drags on.

"Perhaps the answer to all our questions lies with our lovely companion?", Uriel interjects.

We each look back to Harumi. It actually makes sense. She was the first to understand me. Plus, these two couldn't speak each others language until after they came in the vicinity of Harumi.

"Perhaps this is best discussed elsewhere.", the lycan declared, "I know of a safe place. Follow me."

I looked to Harumi for her thoughts. She silently nodded the go ahead. I guess we don't have anywhere else to go. And so we four began the slow trek to the lycan's hide out.
