Ultimate Tailgate Challenge
- Chapter Twenty-seven -
Today Mr. Davenport had given everyone the day off, to which you were highly grateful for. As you, Leo, and Bree walked into the Hydra-loop area, Tasha came out of the Hydra-loop with a smile plastered on her face.
"Hey, guys, I've got some exciting news," Tasha announced. "I got us all tickets to the big college football game this weekend at my alma mater." She the began to chant, "Go, Pioneers! Whoo!"
You rose a brow as Adam spoke, "Trust me, guys, it wasn't much better from back here."
"Football? Pass," Mr. Davenport commented.
"You're going," Tasha stated, well more demanded.
"Honey, if you wanted a sports guy, you should've married one," Mr. Davenport explained.
"Excuse me?" Tasha asked, as he placed her hand on her hip.
"I mean, please don't leave me. I'll go," Mr. Davenport stated nervously.
"I can't believe I'm gonna have a real-life college experience," Bree smiled. "Ooh, I wanna be like those kids on Tv who paint their faces and scream into the camera."
"Bree, please do not embarrass us," Chase stated. "Everyone knows that the proper way to enjoy a sporting event is to clap politely, not hoot and hollar like a buffoon."
As on cue, Perry came in hooting and hollaring. "Whoo, go, Tech! She's at the ten, the five, touchdown Vikings!"
Perry yelled in a frenzy as Mr. Davenport walked forward. "You went to Mission Creek Tech?"
"Best twelve years of my life," Perry smiled. "And I was on the football team."
"No way. They let girls play back then?" Bree asked Perry.
"Nope. Had to grow a mustache amd say I was Tom form Ohio," Perry explained as she looked at Tasha's Pioneer sweatshirt. "Ugh, Pioneers? I knew there was a reason I never liked you. You went to my rival school."
"Oh, yeah. State's takin' Tech down," Tasha pointed downwards.
"In your dreams. I just wish I could be there to see it. The game's been sold out for weeks," Perry explained.
"You should talk to Tash--"
"No, she shouldn't," Mr. Davenport cut Adam off as he pushed Adam out of the room.
"Do you have tickets?" Perry asked Tasha.
"Uh...no," Tasha replied.
"Good. Because I know, if you did, you'd invite your bestie Terry. Right?" Perry asked, pressing herself closer to Tasha.
"Did she say bestie or beastie?" Leo asked, as you shrugged in response.
"You just said you didn't like me," Tasha pointed out.
"I've grown as a person since then. Come here!" Perry stated, as she hugged Tasha. "Don't fight it. Like me back."
"That's sure is some sight to see," you commented as Leo, Bree, and Chase nodded in agreement.
~~~~~
When the weekend rolled around, you and Bree greeted Tasha and had talked casually for a few minutes until Tasha called out for the boys.
"C'mon boys, let's go!" Tasha exclaimed. "I want to get there early so we can tailgate."
Bree sqeauled excitedly as the boys walked in from the training area. "Hey!" Mr. Davenport greeted. "Who's ready to reluctantly attend a sporting event?"
"I know I am," Bob smiled, as he and Adam walked over.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Bob," Tasha apologized. "I only have enough tickets for our family."
"Oh, great," Bob nodded.
"Immediate family," Tasha added.
"Fantastic," he nodded once more.
"I don't have a ticket for you," Tasha explained.
"Sounds good," Bob nodded as you sighed.
"If he's not going, than I'm not going," Adam stated.
"Aw, you'd really do that for me?" Bob smiled.
"Of course, man. We're buds," Adam smiled. "I'm not gonna leave you here by yourself."
"Then I guess we have an extra ticket," Chase shrugged.
"Oh, I'll take it," Bob smiled, walking forward as Adam quickly stopped him.
"I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but since we have an extra ticket, should we maybe offer it to Perry?" Tasha asked, as dead silence filled the room, only for everyone to erupt in a fit of laughter.
"Okay, calm down. How about [Name] comes with us?" Bree asked as you shook your head.
"Oh, no. I'm okay, you guys go," you assured.
"You would rather stay here stuck on the island with Bob and Adam?" Chase asked, raising a brow.
You then tilted your head slightly to the side, smirking. "Who said I would be staying on the island?"
"Yeah, she's coming with us, because if she doesn't. She'll go out on her own and do who knows what," Chase explained, crossing his arms.
"You know me so well," you smiled.
"I know."
~~~~~
When you all arrived at the college, Tasha was in awe, as if she was finally back at home.
"Oh, to be back in college," Tasha sighed in content. "I had the best days of my life here."
"Other than the day you married the Donald Davenport, right sweetie?" Mr. Davenport asked.
"Get me my own island and we'll talk," Tasha stated.
"Happy wife, happy life," you commented, gazing around only to notice that everyone was starting at you all.
"Hey, why is everyone staring at us?" Chase asked Bree.
"Because they know we're bionic," Bree smiled. "I am totally using to get in with them.
"Are you really that shallow?" Chase asked her. "You're gonna flaunt your bionics just to impress a bunch of tailgating gorillas?"
"Yes," Bree answered as she turned around to watch a small group of people.
You then heard booing, which made you turn around and see that the people were booing at Leo.
"Leo, why are you wearing the Vikings colors?" Tasha asked, motioning to his shirt.
"What do I know about team colors? Just be happy it's clean" Leo stated.
"See, this is why you need Mommy to pick out your clothes," Tasha stated as Leo rolled his eyes.
"Hey, Dooley, nice threads," Perry stated, walking over and taking Leo's jacket. "Oh, great, I've been looking for a grease rag," she explained as she used it to clean her spatula, before tossing it to the side.
"What are you doing here?" Mr. Davenport asked.
"I'm here for the Ultimate Tailgate Challenge," Perry replied. "The winner scores tickets for the big game. And since I cook and eat most of my food in a parking lot already, I'm a shoo-in."
"For what, parasites?" Chase asked.
"Shut it, Frodo. Behold, my tailgating spectacular," Perry motioned to her car.
"Great. I'm starving," Leo commented, as you all followed him, seeing all kinds of meat placed around her car. "And now I'm not."
"You're cooking food on your car?" Tasha asked disgusted.
"Better than anything you ever cooked," Perry shrugged. "Ooh, check out my rotisserie chicken."
Perry clicked a button, showing the chiken on the windshield wipers.
"So do you have a way to cook them, or are you a more of a raw bird kind of gal?" Leo questioned, as Perry clicked another button igniting flames to cook the chicken.
Perry then took off a leg, biting into it. "Mmm! Delish! Hey, what are you all doing here anyway? The game sold out."
Everyone began to stammer as Mr. Davenport spoke up. "We came for the chicken," Mr. Davenport laughed nervously, taking a piece of chicken and biting into it. "Is that diesel?"
You couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in amsument.
~~~~~
After about an hour or so, you had settled down, sitting down with Mr. Davenport, Leo, and Bree eating a bag of beef jerky.
"You know, if you don't think about how it was cooked, the chicken is actually quite tasty," Bree pointed out.
"Oh, I ran out of chicken. That's falcon," Perry informed, as Bree dropped her chicken on her plate.
"I'm done," Leo commented as he dropped his plate.
"But you haven't even tried my sausages yet," Perry explained, taking out a row of sausages from the tailpipe.
Leo then stood up as he spoke, "You cooked them in the tailpipe?"
"You call it a tailpipe, I call it a smoker," Perry shrugged. "Any time I see hot air coming out of something, the first thing I think of is, how can I put meat in there?"
"And to think you're still single," Mr. Davenport commented.
Leo looked at you as you ate a piece of jerky. "Where did you get that, and why are you eating it?"
"Well, getting it, you don't need to know. I'm eating it because there's no way I'm touching what Perry cooked. Sorry, but I'm not dieing today," you explained, as you took another bite.
"You're really smart, you know that?" Leo asked.
"I know," you smiled smugly, as you heard cheering from the other side of the lot.
"Well, that's enough E. coli for one day," Bree set her plate down. "Time to go wow my college buds with some razzle dazzle."
You then stood as you handed your jerky bag to Leo. "You can have it."
Leo's smile grew wide as he took a piece out and ate it.
"Hey, where's Tasha?" you asked, as Mr. Davenport stood.
"I don't know," he answered, as Leo set down the bag and stood up as well.
Then Tasha came flying around the corner. "Hey, guys, I just picked up the tickets from Will Call. They're on the 50-yard line."
"Oh! I don't know what that means, but lets get outta here before Perry sees them," Mr. Davenport stated, as Perry ran up from behind and began to growl. "Please tell me there's a four-foot pit bull behind us."
"Sorry to burst your bubble but no," you replied.
"You have tickets?!" Perry exclaimed, making Tasha and Mr. Davenport jump. "You lied to me. How could you? We're family!"
"Okay, fine, you can have our extra ticket," Tasha stated as you looked at her.
"No! After you lied to me, I want all of them. Gimme!" Perry exclaimed as she chased Tasha.
Tahsa then threw the tickets, as you jumped up to catch them. Just as Perry went to lung at you, you quickly tossed them to Leo. When Perry shot Leo a glare, he screamed as she began to chase him, making him throw the tickets to Mr. Davenport.
"Ha! What do you know? I caught them," Mr. Davenport smiled, as Perry body slammed him to the ground, trying to get the tickets. "Those aren't the tickets."
Perry got a hold of them, accidentally flinging them back, making them land on the chicken.
"I'll get them," Leo stated.
"No way. If I can't have them, neither can you!" Perry exclaimed, pressing a button to igniting the flames as Tasha yelled out no. "Now that's a hot ticket."
~~~~~
A little after that whole incident, you checked up on Bree, who ranted about Chase flaunting his bionics. To prove her point she even showed you. Mentally and physically, pointing to where Chase was. After catching up with her, you walked over to Leo, Tasha, and Mr. Davenport just as a group of people booed Leo.
"Alright, keep walking," Leo stated, as he turned to Tasha. "Can we just go home?"
"No way," Tasha replied. "I have been looking forward to this for months. There's gotta be a way we can get into that game."
"How?" Leo asked. "She ate our tickets!" he exclaimed, motioning to Perry.
"Then we are just gonna have to do whatever it takes to beat Perry at the Ultimate Tailgate Challenge," Mr. Davenport stated. "C'mon Leo, lets go."
As they left Tasha walked right over to Perry. "Team Davenport is taking you down."
"Good luck. I've been in the mouth of a shark, a bear, and three kinds of snake, and they're all grilling on my car," Perry pointed to her car.
Tasha rolled her eyes as she walked away.
"Were you really going to give my ticket away for Perry, if you don't mind me asking?" you asked, following Tasha as she turned around to look at you.
"Yes and no. If she did take your ticket, I was going to have you sneak yourself into the game," she answered.
You rose an eyebrow in amusement. "You would want me, to sneak into the game?"
"Yeah, I've heard a lot from Mr. Davenport and the kids when they talk about you. You're the rebel who likes to do whatever, not caring what anybody says," she explained.
"Hmm, that is true," you smiled, making Tasha laugh.
~~~~~
You talked to Tasha for a little while, waiting for the boys to come back. When they did, you noticed that Mr. Davenport had rolled up in a fancy red car.
"Ooh, is it over?" Mr. Davenport asked as he and Leo got out. "Wait. It couldn't be. I just got here."
"Who's booing now?" Leo asked Perry. "Go Vikings!"
"Pioneers," Tasha corrected
"Pioneers. Go, Pioneers," Leo corrected himself.
"Hey, Perry, check this out," Mr. Davenport smiled as he pressed a button, revealing a grill that was in the back of the car. "And its got satellite Tv with surround sound for your viewing pleasure. Oh, anyone thirsty? It dispenses thirty different kinds of beverages."
The people were impressed as Perry spoke. "Who cares? Nobody likes drinks."
"And when the Pioneers win..." Mr. Davenport stated, only earning a weak cheer. "I said when the Pioneers win..." Mr. Davenport repeated, which earn loud cheering, "push this one little button, the hood pops up, and we get a spectacular fireworks display," he laughed as he turned to talk to Willie McGinest. "You should probably just give me the tickets right now."
"Well, clearly, your vehicle's the one to beat," Willie McGinest pointed out.
"You know, we could combine our tailgates so that we can both with the tickets," Tasha offered Perry.
"Really?" Perry asked.
"Never!" Tasha exclaimed. "Crank it up, Donald!"
Mr. Davenport than began to play music as Tasha began dancing, as well as a few other people.
"Mom, you're suppose to be punishing her, not me," Leo stated as Tasha danced in front of him.
You shook your head as you walked away, trying to get as far way as possible. Soon you were able to find Bree on the other side of the lot. You both began to chat casually, walking back to were Mr. Davenport was at, until two guys beagn chanting Chase's name as they carried him.
"You hear that?" Chase asked. "They're chanting my name, and not because they're angry at me."
"Great," Bree forced a smile. "This was probably my one chance to have a college experience, and you're having the day I wanted."
"I know. Can you take some pictures?" Chase asked, as Bree began to walk away. "Bree. Bree, wait. Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to steal your thunder. But there's no reason we both can't have fun." Bree furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as Chase smiled. "I have an idea."
~~~~~
There Bree stood in a ridiculous outfit as Chase spoke. "Ready to do what no Mission Creek State student has ever been able to do before?"
"Oh, yeah," Bree smiled, super speeding away, coming back a moment later with the Vikings' mascot head.
People began to cheer as Chase spoke. "She got the Viking mascot head. That was epic, Bree." The peopel cheered once more as Chase continued. "However, it is technically stealing, so I'm gonna have to return it to its rightful owner."
Then they began to boo, throwing their empty cups at Chase, who ran away as they followed.
"Ah! And once again, everything is right with the world. Wanna come?" Bree asked.
"Nah, I'm gonna get a drink. Have fun," you smiled as Bree began to chant 'M.C. State', walking away.
Once you got your drink, you turned around to see Perry squeezing a bottle of ketchup in anger at Leo. She laughed as she lowered the bottle.
"Seriously?" Leo asked. "I just put this on!"
Leo then began to try and wipe a away the ketchup, but he made a big 'x' stain on his shirt, which earned boos from people.
"Leo, stop. They think you're defacing the Pioneer mascot," Tasha explained.
"Oh, no. No!" Leo exclaimed, turning to the people, but he only earned more boos.
"The judge is coming over," Mr. Davenport explained. "He's gonna think they're booing us. He's not with us, boo!"
Mr. Davenport booed Leo as Leo turned to Tasha. "Mom."
"Sorry, honey. I just really want those tickets," Tasha aplogized as she pointed at him. "Boo!!"
Leo turned to see you sitting in a chair, eating popcorn. "Really? That's how it's gonna be? Are you really eating popcorn right now?"
"What? I have to enjoy the show don't I?" you smirked.
Leo then grabbed the Mustard bottle and walked over to Perry. "Hey, Perry, want some help?"
"Yes. This is my number," Perry handed him a piece of paper. "Give it to Mr. McGinest, and tell him not to call after 9:00."
Perry waved at Mr. McGinest, giving him the 'call me' sign, which made you cringe.
~~~~~
So you sat, watching Leo use his bionic arm to heat up the meat that was on Perry's car, impressing Mr. McGinest. Perry then took off a piece, handing it over to him as he took a bite.
"Mm. That's delicious," Mr. McGinest complimented, as he lifted Perry's chin. "You just sacked my taste buds."
You rolled your eyes as you seen Mr. Davenport trying to find a faster way to heat up his meat faster. Mr. Davenport pushed buttons as the car hood lift up.
"That may have been the wrong button," he explained.
"What do you mean wrong button?" Tasha queationed, as je shouted 'duck!'
Fireworks then began to shoot, making everyone go into panic and run around like headless chickens as Perry smiled in awe.
"Oh, love the firework show. Especially when it lit Pioneer Pete on fire," Perry laughed. "Burn, Petey, burn!"
~~~~~
After that whole disaster, as you all sat in the Hydra-loop to travel back to the academy, you sat next to Leo.
"Why didn't you help me when people began to boo me?" Leo asked.
"Because it was amusing to watch and why interfere when I can just enjoy watching?" you smiled.
When the Hydra-loop opened, everyone began to step out as Leo spoke. "Fine, two can play this game."
"What do you mea--"
You got cut off as Leo pushed you from behind out of the Hydra-loop, making you stumble into someone's chest.
"Woah, you okay?"
You opened your eyes to see that the person's chest was painted half blue and yellow.
"I'm fine," you stated, as you stepped back, hearing Leo laughing.
You shot him a glare, as he took off running. You ran after him, zapping him in the rear end causing him to shriek girlishly.
~~~~~
After that little incident, you all went into the living quarters as Mr. Davenport explained everything that happened to Adam and Bob.
"And since there was so much fire damage to the stadium, they had to cancel the game," Mr. Davenport explained.
"You're going to the next one," Tasha stated as Mr. Davenport agreed.
"I'm gonna go take a shower," Chase announced. "My body paint is running...off campus."
You scrunched your nose in disgust as Leo stood up. "I should take one, too. I still smell like Perry's diesel dogs."
As Leo walked away Adam spoke. "Man, I can't believe you guys started a fire. Talk about careless."
"Very irresponsible," Bob added.
"Hey, guys, look, they're showing it on Tv," Bree pointed out as you all stood and ran over to the Tv.
"And since there's no game highlights to show you please enjoy the most popular web clip of the week."
The clip showed Adam tossing the table through the capsules, smashing them into the ground.
"Woah, those actors look just like us," Adam weakly stated.
"Talk about careless and irresponsible," you shook your head smiling slightly.
