Space Colony P.1

- Chapter Twenty-nine -

It was hot, really hot. It felt as if you were in a sauna. Luckily, Mr. Davenport had given everybody the day off. You were able to wear normal clothes; which consisted a black tank top and black skinny jeans, insead of being in a hot mentors suit all day.

Everyone complained how hot it was, which was very understandable. You sat on Chase's left, leaning against the column, trying to cool yourself down by the smooth, cool surface (which was barely working).

"I am so happy that Mr. Davenport gave everyone the day off, because it is way too hot to train," Bree stated as she fanned herself.

"Yeah, well, lucky for you your brother's a bionic air conditioner," Adam smiled, bracing himself to use his lung capacity.

"Adam, nobody wants your disgusting breath blowing all over--"

Adam cut Chase off as he beagn to blow. You all had jumped up, trying to cool down which felt so heavenly. Then the Hydra-loop opened, Tasha and Mr. Davenport greeting you all as you all ran over greeting them as well.

"Ahem! Everybody, I have a very important announcement," Mr. Davenport announced. "I...Donald Davenport...am the first person to create a livable environment on another planet." Mr. Davenport then walked over to the screen. "Behold...my very own space colony."

You all walked over to the screen, looking in awe as Chase spoke. "You've colonized a planet? Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because it was top secret, and because every time I tell you guys anything, you blow it up, burn it down, crack it in half, or sink it," Mr. Davenport explained.

"Hey, that is not...yeah it is true," Adam conmented.

"Looks cool. Is that Mars?" Bree asked.

Mr. Davenport scoffed. "Please. Mars? Mars is for amateurs. I colonized a planet in an entirely different galaxy. Oh, by the way, did I mention I discovered an entirely different galaxy?"

Mr. Davenport had his arm wrapped around Chase's shoulder as Chase glared at Mr. Davenport. "How dare you."

Mr. Davenport then moved back to the screen. "The planet is called Lithios, and this high-tech dome mimics the Earth's enviorment, proving oxygen and gravity to the 50 colonists that I hand-picked for the project. I'm also the honorary major of the colony which I named Davenportia."

"Of course you named it that, what was I expecting," you deadpanned.

"Those colonists have been living there for almost a month, and they are loving every Daven minute of it," Mr. Davenport explained, turning off the screen. "And pretty soon, you will all get to meet them. That's right. We are going on a family vacation to space!"

"You told me we were going to Greece," Tasha stated.

"Well, Davenportia is the Greece of space," Mr. Davenport explained. "Anyway, so it'll be a lot cooler there. It is way too hot here today."

Adam then stepped up,"No worries. I got you covered."

As Adam blew, it made Mr. Davenport yell as he flew backwards.

"That's gonna leave a Daven stain," Leo stated.

"Adam, be careful next time. You don't want to be hurting dolls like that," you commented, patting his back.

~~~~~
You were heading to your dorm as Bree super sped in front of you. "Where do you think you're going?"
"My dorm, why?" you asked.
"Nonsense, you're coming with us," Bree stated.
"No, that's a family trip. For just your family," you replied.
"No, I already talked to Mr. Davenport and he said he would be happy if you came along. You're family now and there's nothing you can do about it," Bree smiled.
You were taken back. "I'm family?"
"Of course you are. You're like the sister I never had. Now lets go!" Bree exclaimed, taking your hand as she super sped you to the living quarters.
~~~~~

After you all got ready, wearing your black leather space suits, Mr. Davenport led you all to the ship.

"This is it. Welcome to my intergalactic spacecraft; my pride and joy," Mr. Davenport smiled. "Isn't she beautiful?"

"Wow! I never thought I'd be jealous of a spaceship," Tasha stated, as you walked around.

"Oh, come on, honey, don't be jealous. You don't stand a chance against this thing," Mr. Davenport stated.

"Well that was savage," you murmered, making Leo laugh.

"I can't believe this spaceship's been under the island all this time," Adam commented.

"That explains why he didn't make us live in the basement," Bree pointed out.

"Mr. Davenport this is awesome," Chase smiled. "If I was a nerd, I'd totally be geeking out right now."

You then held up your fingers, counting down. "Three...two...one."

As on cue Chase made this goofy excited squeal, which made you smile.

"You know him very well," Bree smiled, raising a brow

"Yes I do," you replied, looking down smiling.

Leo then looked at a suit displayed in a case. "Cool. What's that?"

"Oh, that's my high-velocity escape suit," Mr. Davenport replied. "It's made out of ultra-protective matetial that will allow me to fly back to Earth in case we encounter any kind of emergency while in space."

"But there's only one suit. What about the rest of us?" Bree asked referring to you all.

"The rest of you better hope the there's no emergencies," Mr. Davenport smiled.

Adam then walked over with the space helmet on his head, beginning to speak in a deep voice. "I am Zolton, leader of the planet Darkom. Bow to me, puny inferior being."

"Adam," Chase stated.

"Who is this Adam you speak of? I am Zolton!" Adam exclaimed.

"Adam!"

"Zolton!"

"Give me that helmet," Chase commanded.

"No, I will not. Zolton does not understand the human language," Adam stated.

"Oh, but he speaks it?" Chase asked sarcastically.

"Zolton will get back to you when he has an answer for that," Adam spoke in his normal voice as he walked away.

"Okay, people, listen up," Chase announced. "As your mission leader, it is my responsibility to inform you of what to do in case of an emergency. Since we'll be traveling at speeds greater than 186,000 miles per second--"

Adam cut Chase off. "Blah blah blah. I got this. Ahem. Ladies and gentlemen, there are two exits on the aircraft; one in the front and in the rear. In the event of a water landing, Chase can be used as a floation device."

To prove his point, Adam yelled as he jumped onto Chase's back, as Chase struggled to hold Adam. You chuckled watching the brothers until Chase was able to buckle off Adam.

"Okay, Bree, Leo, [Name], Tasha, Mr. Davenport, you're all up front with me," Chase explained, turning to Adam. "Adam, you're in the back."

"What? Why am I in the back?" Adam asked.

"Because you are so immature, you can't even pay attention to my safety directives. And I don't feel like traveling across two galaxies hearing, 'Ooh, what does this button do?' eight hundred times!" Chase exclaimed.

"I'm not immature. And for your information, I know what all these buttons do," Adam explanied as he walked over to the control panel. "Like this one right here works the windshield wipers."

Adam then pressed a button, making the space aircraft rise, causing you all to fly backwards. Luckily you were sitting in a chair. As you entered space, you looked out the window, seeing stars and planets whizz by. You saw asteroids fly by, and it was honesty a breathtaking view. You loved stargazing, but it was nothing compared to when you're in space; it was astonishing.

After awhile you all arrived at the space colony. When you all entered Mr. Davenport beagn speaking. "Welcome to Davenportia. Isn't it beautiful?" he asked as you all looked around. "Ah, who needs Greece when you can come here?"

"It's lovely," Tasha complimented. "But if you really wanna make it up to me, you should rename it Tashadonia."

"Oh, honey, you know I love me more than I love you," Mr. Davenport smiled.

"Hey, what's this big bubble for?" Adam asked as he pointed upwards.

"It's not a bubble. It's a dome," Chase informed.

"Don't care. Still wanna pop it," Adam stated, as he continued to look up.

"Well, you can't," Chase stated. "It protects everything in here. From the planet's natural elements. Without that dome, there'd be no oxygen, and all the colonists would die."

"Donald, that sounds dangerous," Tasha stated looking at Mr. Davenport

"It is. That's why I didn't tell these guinea pigs until after they signed their paperwork," Mr. Davenport explained as a few colonists looked at him. "Hi. How you doing?"

You followed Mr. Davenport's gaze and saw Perry.

"I don't care if you're not the waiter. I want more space pancakes," Perry demanded one of the colonists.

"Perry?!" Leo asked bewildered. "What are you doing up here?"

Perry then stood as she walked over. "Wherever the bus stops, I get off."

"Forget that. How did you get here?" Mr. Davenport asked her.

"I snuck up here weeks ago with the rest of these bozos. I can blend in anywhere," Perry explained. "I spent three months on the South Korean gymnastics team."

Then Tasha stepped up to Perry. "How dare you sneak up uninvited?"

Perry then turned slightly to talk to the colonist who held her pancakes. "That's Tasha, the one I was telling you about."

~~~~~
You and the Davenport siblings explored the space colony and lets just say, you were impressed. After exploring you all went into the security room, seeing Mr. Davenport and Leo.
"Love the colony Mr. Davenport," Bree complimented.
"Thanks. This is just the beginning," Mr. Davenport stated. "Pretty soon, there will be Davenportias throughout the universe."
"I don't know of aliens exist, but if they do, they are gonna hate you," Bree stated as she walked over to Leo.
"I certainly agree," you commented.
"I have a very important scientific question," Adam stated. "While we're here, is it okay if I eat stuff on the ground?" Adam asked as Mr. Davenport said no. "Follow-up question. How do I regurgiate stuff I've eaten off the ground?"
"You see?" Chase looked at Mr. Davenport. "This is what I'm talking about. Mature people don't eat stuff off the ground."
"Big D, you better get over here. I think we have a problem," Leo stated as you looked over at the screen, reading: LOST SIGNAL.
"The main communication satellite is down," Mr. Davenport informed.
"What happened?" Chase asked.
"I don't know. Something must've hit it," Mr. Davenport explained. "Asteroid, space debris. Now we have no way of communicating with Earth." Mr. Davenport then looked at the Davenport trio and you. "I need you four to take the spacecraft out and repair the satellite. Leo and I will stay here and re-establish contact once it's up and running."
"Lets go," Chase commanded as you and Bree followed but stopped as Adam ate something.
"Adam, he just told you not to eat stuff off the floor up here," Chase stated.
"Relax," Adam stated. "I got this off the floor at home."
You rolled your eyes as Chase dragged Adam. You all ran to the spacecraft and once you all got in, Chase began to sent it off.
"Okay, I'll go out there and you three will stay. Let me go suit up" Chase informed as he walked out.
"Do you really think an asteroid hit the satellite?" Bree asked you.
"I don't know. I mean, it could be possible but I'm not sure," you replied.
After a few minutes, Chase came out wearing the spacesuit. Chase began to fiddle with the last straps, but you stepped in, helping him strap up. Once you finished you took a step back.
"Alright, we're at the satellite," Chase informed. "Adam, help me put on my jet pack."
"Sure, but first, there's something I've always wanted to try," Adam smiled. "Blowing a bubble in zero gravity."
Adam then pushed a button, making you all float. You chuckled softly as Adam blew a bubble. "Woah, awesome!"
"This is so cool! Childish...but cool," Bree pointed out.
"More bubbles coming up," Adam stated as he went to go blow another.
You twisted around, pushing yourself off the walls as you floated through mid-air. Bree smiled as he held your wrist, you both smiling wider.
"Adam, stop," Chase stated. "If that gum gets on any of the equipment, Mr. Davenport is gonna freak out." Adam though blew another bubble. "Adam! Thats it!"
Chase then floated towards Adam, popping his bubble.
"Hey! You're a black hole of fun," Adam stated as he pressed the button.
You landed on your feet in a crouch position, as Chase landed on the floor. Adam and Bree laughed as Chase stood, looking at his gloves to see gum. "Seriously? You got gum all over my gloves."
Chase let out a fustrated groan as he walked out.
"Hey, can I turn the zero gravity back on?" Adam asked. "I just drank a gallon of water, and there's something else I've always wanted to do in space."
"No," you replied, scrunching your nose in disgust.
~~~~~

Once Chase got most of the gum off the gloves, he went out to check the satellite. You sat on Bree's left as Adam sat on her right.

"Chase, do you see anything?" Bree asked.

"No. I don't get it. There's no structural damage. Hang on, I'll do a scan."

You and Bree looked at one another for a moment, waiting for Chase's reply.

"That's weird. The signal was shut off at the colony. Someone back there must be tampering with it."

"Who would do that?" you asked.

"I don't know," Adam replied. "This sounds like a job for Zolton. I'll get the helmet."

Adam went to get up as Bree pushed him back down onto his seat. Chase then informed he was coming in. In the comm, you could hear and see Chase struggling a bit.

"Uh, Chase, door's over here, bud," Bree and Adam pointed to the door.

"I know. Adam's gum jammed the controls. They're stuck. Hang on. I think I got it."

You seen Chase fiddling with the controls as he began to float forward, screaming. This made you, Bree, and Adam stand.

"What are you doing?!" Bree asked.

"It won't stop. Help!"

"Okay, guys, we need to fly the ship and go get him," Bree informed.

"Got it," Adam nodded.

"Do you know how to do that?" Bree asked the both of you as you shook your head.

"Nope. Ooh, but I bet Zolton does. Now can I get the helmet?" Adam asked.

"Adam, this is serious," you stated firmly.

"Okay, fine. Maybe this'll do it," Adam pressed a button, activating the windshield wipers. "Ah, there's those windshield wipers."

You then looked over the console, trying to figure out how to work the controls.

"[Name] don't you have super intelligence?" Bree asked.

"No, why do people keep asking that?" you asked looking down at all the buttons.

"You're smart, that's why," Bree pointed out.

"Not that smart," you mumbled as you pressed a few buttons.

None of them started the ship though and Chase was floating farther and farther away.

"Chase!" Bree called speaking into the comm. "Chase! He's not responding. He must be out of range. Great. He's speeding off into space, and we have no idea how to work this thing."

"Way to come up here unprepared, Bree," Adam snapped.

You then picked up on a set of footsteps approaching. "Wait. Someone's on the ship."

As on cue, Perry walked in yawning making Bree speak. "Perry? What are you doing here?"

"Took a nap in the engine room. I find the violent rumble of rocket engines to be soothing, but the fumes knocked me out cold," Perry explained.

"Okay, we lost Chase in space," Adam pointed out.

"Score!" Perry exclaimed.

"This is serious Perry," you stated.

"We don't know how to fly this thing, and if we don't figure it out, we're gonna lose him forever," Bree informed.

"Score!" Perry exclaimed once more.

"You know what? Forget it. I will just figure out how to fly this thing myslef," Bree stated, as she pressed a few buttons, making an alarm go off. "Okay. I'm done."

Perry then walked over to the console. "Relax. I used to be an astronaut. I know how to fly this bird."

"Yeah right," Adam stated doubtfully.

"I do. Back in the day, me and my buddy Buck Champ used to ride rings around Neptune, till an unfortunate ejector seat accident," Perry explained.

"Okay. You know what? That's it!" Bree snapped at Perry. "You never had any of these jobs. You were never an astronaut, you never played basketball in Romania, you never knocked out Muhammed Ali. You are a liar."

"Hey, I don't lie," Perry stated. "When you get fired from as many jobs as I do, you gotta take whatever you can get."

"Why did you get fired so much?" Adam asked.

"For lying," Perry replied.

You threw your hands up as you pointed out the window. "Hello! Chase is still floating in space!"

Perry began to speak as you all sat down. "Okay, T-minus ten to lift off. Hydraulics engaged. Boosting the vector rates of the orbital thrusters," Perry pressed buttons as he sat back. "We are set for maximum propulsion."

"What does that mean?" Adam asked.

"It means sit back and shut your trap. I'm driving this beast!" Perry then pulled the lever back, making the spacecraft shoot forward at maximum speed.

~~~~~
After awhile, Bree and Adam had stood and walked away, taking as you stayed seated along with Perry until she called Adam and Bree over.
"I think I found the vapor trail from Chris' jet pack," Perry pointed out.
"His name is Chase," you corrected.
"Call him whatever you want. He ain't gonna be around to hear it," Perry stated as you approached a planet.
"I think he crash-landed on that planet," Adam informed.
"How?" Bree asked. "He would've burned up as soon as he entered the planet's atmosphere."
"What are we waiting for?" Perry asked. "Lets land this baby, grab his bones, and bury them next to buck."
Perry then landed the ship as you spoke. "Okay, Bree and Adam go out and find Chase. While I stay here and make sure that Perry doesn't leave."
Adam and Bree nodded, walking away as you sat next to Perry, rubbing your temples.
'Hopefully the boy is dead. It'll make things easier.'
'No. He's alive and he'll survive this!'
"So, you seem to be pretty close with Chase," Perry commented as you shot her a puzzled look.
"And that's a problem?" you asked, raising a brow
Perry tilted her head to the side as she planted her feet on the console. "Not a problem really, but aren't you going to tell him?"
"Tell him what?" you asked, now more confused.
"Uh, I don't know, that maybe you have feels for him," Perry pointed out as if it was obvious.
You scoffed as you crossed your arms, leaning more into the chair. "I do not have feelings for him and nor will I ever."
"Okay," Perry shrugged, dropping the topic.
After a few minutes, Adam, Bree, and Chase came in.
"Oh, good. You made it back. Two more minutes, and I was gonna ditch you," Perry explained.
"How is she...you know what? I don't even wanna know," Chase shook his head.
"Glad that's over. That place was scary, huh Chase?" Adam looked at Chase.
"Don't talk to me," Chase stated.
"What? Why?" Adam asked.
"Because of you, I almost died," Chase informed.
"We all almost died," Bree rephrased as she walked away from her brothers.
"When are you gonna realize that your stupid actions have consequences?" Chase asked Adam.
"Chase--"
Chase cut Adam off. "Don't Chase me. You're always saying you wanna be treated like an adult. Well, here's an idea. Why don't you grow up and start acting like one? Until then, we may be brothers, but I am not your friend."
Chase grabbed his helmet, walking away as Perry walked over to Adam. "Aw. You look like you could use a hug." Adam opened his arms as Perry steppes back. "Whoa! I never said you were getting one from me."
You sighed as you stood, getting out of your comfort zone as you you hugged Adam. "You'll be alright."
~~~~~

When you all got back to Davenportia, you all quickly ran inside as Chase spoke to Mr. Davenport. "Mr. Davenport, the satellite's fine. The signal was manipulated from here."

"What? That doesn't make any sense," Mr. Davenport stated.

You then heard heavy footsteps approaching. As you looked up, you seen a man wearing a mask.

"It really is Zolton," Adam stated.

"Who are you?" Chase asked the mysterious man.

You got an off vibe about the man, and it wasn't a good one either.

"You know exactly who I am," the man replied, showing his face.

Krane.

"Oh, no. It's the scary guy with the metal face," Perry explained. "You losers are on your own. I'm outta here." Perry ran, grabbing a jet pack as she slung it over her shoulders. "So long, suckers."

"This oughta be good," Mr. Davenport stated as you all looked up at Perry.

You all saw Perry struggling to stir the jet pack, causing her to scream in frustration. "How do you stir this stupid thing?!"

"Kinda hoping she doesn't figure that out," Adam commented.

"She won't," Bree smiled.

Perry then came hurling towards you all, making you all run out of the way. Once Perry landed she spoke. "Good news, guys. I've decided to stay."
