Guilty Feelings and Surprises
- Chapter Seven -
"Aww, they look so cute!" Bob smiled, looking down at you and Leo's sleeping forms.
"Are you sure? [Name] could do better," Spin commented, as he looked at you.
"I don't know guys, I'm feeling mix emotions right now," Adam rubbed his chin, looking at you and Leo.
Spin heard the students murmuring as they looked at you and Leo sleeping, making Spin speak up.
"Nothing to see here guys, move along!" Spin waved off, wanting you and Leo to sleep.
Chase and Mr. Davenport then came walking into the Hydra-loop area. Mr. Davenport looked around the academy, impressed seeing everything looking spotless.
"Wow, this place looks spotless, just like me!" Mr. Davenport smiled wildly, as he pointed to himself.
"Well, you can thank [Name] and Leo for it," Chase stated.
"Chase, I wanted to say thank you, for telling me what happened. It was a great responsibility, and I'm glad you took care of this yourself," Mr. Davenport smiled, patting Chase on the shoulder.
"Oh, Mr. Davenport! There's something you need to see," Bree stated, as she skipped into the training area.
Mr. Davenport looked puzzled, as he followed after Bree, as Chase trailed behind also. When they entered the training area, their gaze landed on yours and Leo's sleeping forms.
"Chase? How long have you let them cleaned?" Mr. Davenport question.
Chase was hesitant, but answered nonetheless.
"Four hours."
"Four hours?! It's eight right now and you had them cleaning since four in the morning!"
Chase winced slightly as Mr. Davenport slightly yelled.
"Chase, I was very proud of you for handling this situation on your own, but not letting them clean for, four hours straight," Mr. Davenport look at Chase.
Chase casted his eyes downwards, guilt consuming him for letting you both clean non-stop for such a long time. Mr. Davenport sighed as he ran his hand though his hair.
"[Name] and Leo will have the day off, since they won't have enough energy to train today. Adam, take Leo to the living quarters. Bree, take [Name] to her dorm," Mr. Davenport instructed.
Adam nodded as picked up Leo with ease, and slung him over his shoulder. Bree woke you up, helping you stand. Your vision was hazy and as you stepped forward, but stumbled making Bree hold you upright.
You couldn't even glare at Chase, your eyelids were half lidded. Bree slung your arm around her shoulder as you stumbled to your dorm, leaving a guilty Chase behind.
~~~~~
The next day you woke up and changed, before heading out. When you entered the Hydra-loop area. You heard the Adam, Bree, and Chase talking about throwing a birthday party.
"A birthday party?" you questioned.
Thy snapped their attention towards you as Bree spoke up.
"Yeah, when I turn twenty-one I want to throw a birthday party in Vegas," Bree explained, as she did jazz hands.
You rose a brow, as Chase began to speak.
"You do know what a birthday party is, right?" Chase questioned, as you scoffed.
"Of course I do, who wouldn't?" you answered.
Chase looked at you with a questioning gaze, as you shifted uncomfortably as they all three looked at you. As if you were a child who had got caught stealing cookies from the cookie jar. You recovered quickly as you cleared your throat.
"Well, if you don't mind, I'm gonna get something to eat," you stated, as you headed to the cafeteria.
~~~~~
An orange haze casted over the moving sea, reflecting off every wave. You watched with an unwavering gaze, as a fiery red orb of light slowly sank beneath the horizon, and threads of light lingered in the sky, mingling with the rolling clouds. It was as if the Gods painted the sky, with different hues of reds, oranges, and pinks.
There was a soft breeze, that gently blew a few strands of your hair back, as you breathed deeply, smelling the intoxicating salty air, as the waves crashed softly onto the sand. It was quiet and peaceful, until someone ruined it and sat next to you.
It was the one and only, Chase Davenport. Way to ruin the peaceful setting.
"What are you doing here?" Chase asked, looking beyond the ocean.
"Trying to get away from you, and it's not working. What are you doing here?"
"Trying to talk to you," he replied, clasping his hands together.
"Why?"
"Earlier when we were talking about birthday parties, you seemed a bit off," Chase commented, playing with his fingers.
"Okay, and? I was still tired from yesterday, don't you forget," you snapped.
You sounded harsh, but he didn't need to get in your business, it wasn't his place. He ignored your harshness's as he continued speaking.
"No, it wasn't that, it was something else," he pointed out.
"Why do you care?" you rolled your eyes.
"Because I want to know," Chase replied, not straining his eyes away from the ocean.
"Good luck with that nerd," you stated, as you hopped off the boulder swiftly.
"Tell me," Chase hopped off also, following you.
"Nope, sorry I don't speak to dorks like you."
"Just tell me," Chase spoke, as he grabbed your arm.
"No."
"Why?"
"Because I don't want to."
"Tell me!"
"No!"
"Why?!"
"Because I never had one!" you snapped, ripping his grasp on your arm.
"You, never had one?" Chase asked, hesitantly.
You sighed as you looked back at the deep blue sea. You never opened up to anyone, you hated it. You felt weak and unbearable, when you let yourself open up. You liked to keep things contained, kept to yourself. No one needed to know your business, but in this case, you had to tell him.
"I never had anyone to spend it with, so I never got thrown a birthday party," you replied, choosing your words carefully.
It was true in a way, but the people you had to work with never cared, so you stopped caring also. There was no need to celebrate, and you were fine with that. Chase tried reading your facial expression, but you didn't show any emotion.
Chase wanted to ask more, but he held himself back, knowing that you weren't going to say any more about it.
"I, didn't know," he said softly.
"Yeah, well it doesn't matter. If you tell anyone about this conversation, I will slit your throat. Don't think I won't, I will" you stated coldly.
You twisted around with your hands clenching and unclenching, as you walked away.
~~~~~
Someone opened your capsule, making you blink multiple times, trying to get rid of the blurriness from your eyes. When your sight cleared, you saw Bree smiling.
"Good morning," Bree smiled.
"Morning," you grumbled.
"What, no 'good morning'?" Bree questioned.
"If it was a 'good morning', I would've said it. Now what are you doing in my dorm?" you asked, with a questioning gaze.
"To have a girl's day. Now c'mon and get dressed I wanna have girl time," Bree stated, walking out of your dorm.
~~~~~
You and Bree were sitting in the sand, as she rambled on about her past crushes. You zoned out, looking out towards the ocean, watching the sunset, once again. It was a perfect opportunity, to kill Bree when no one was around to witness.
'Kill the girl, there's no reason not to. This is a great opportunity to take the chance.'
'No, don't kill her. It's wrong, do the right thing.'
"[Name], are you listening?" Bree asked, snapping you out of your daze.
"What? Yeah, you were talking about Sebastian. What does he look like, you never described what he looked like," you commented.
"Why don't you see for yourself?" Bree held out her arm.
You grabbed her arm, as a white light flashed through her arm.
You saw that Sebastian had brown hair and eyes. He was fairly tall with fair skin. He wore all black, and from what you could analyze, it looked like it was before Sebastian became a student at the academy.
You let go of her arm and smirked.
"So, you're attracted to bad boys?" you asked, as she stood up and shrugged.
"Eh, when you put it like that. Now let's head inside the academy, it's getting late," Bree pointed out, as you both walked to the academy.
~~~~~
When you both walked into the academy, Bree walked ahead as you followed behind. You noticed that the lights were off, which made you raise a brow, as you looked around. It was silent also, it was like if you were able to drop a tick tack, you would be able to hear it.
When you and Bree entered the training area, the lights flickered on as everyone jumped up, yelling; surprise! You saw a big banner that had your name written across it.
"Guys, what's going on?" you asked, looking around in utter confusion.
"It's a surprise party, duh," Adam pointed out.
Everyone came and congratulated you, making you very, very uncomfortable. You had one thought in your mind; and that was strangling Chase Davenport.
"C'mon guys lets get this party started!" Adam yelled, making everyone cheer loudly.
For the rest of the evening, everyone was playing games and activities that were set out. They had all kinds of food laid out on the table, which Adam and Bob were eating, primarily all of it. Bree was dancing with some of the girls, as Leo was played bowling.
Instead of actually using an actual bowling ball, Leo used his bionic arm to knock down the pins. Everything was just so overwhelming, so when no one noticed, you slipped out and walked outside and took a deep breath of fresh air.
You sat on the closest boulder, as you ran your hand through your hair.
"Uh, hi. Before you do anything or possibly kill me, please let me explain," Chase stated, as he sat next to you.
You wanted to hurt him, but you held back the urge to strangle him.
"Before you say anything, I did not tell anyone about our conversation yesterday. All I saw was that I felt guilty and wanted to throw a surprise party. It's true, I did feel guilty for making you clean for non-stop, and because you never got thrown a party. I also got you a little something."
Chase then handed you a wrapped medium sized box, making your eyes narrow in confusion. As you opened the box, you saw a set of black leather gloves. You stared slightly surprised, its been a very long time since someone's acknowledged your birthday, or showed any affection.
"How did you know?" you asked, referring to the gloves.
"Leo helped me out," Chase replied, making you sigh.
"No matter how much I want to hurt you, for making me clean and for throwing me a party. No matter how much I want you to suffer, I'm just going to say thank you, Chase," you gave a small smile.
It was the first time, in a long time that you actually smiled, instead of grinning or smirking.
"Did, you just call me by my actual name?" Chase asked.
"Don't push your luck, I still want to hurt you."
