Oldrivalshipping: That smirk of his
Gary got drunk and cheated on Leaf. Ash tries to help them get back to each other again, and even if Leaf is refusing, she just can't resist Gary, and especially that smirk of his.
THAT SMIRK OF HIS.

“And I deflected it up with my stick and it went over the net! Like a boss!”
“Did you do that to get my attention, Ashy?”
Leaf rolled her eyes. She was really tired of hearing Misty and Ash flirt all the time. It was getting annoying and old. Those two have known each other for years and none has tried to make a move once. Sometimes she wished she could just make them date or something.
“Of course not. Why would you even think so?”
“Oh dear just shut up.”
“Misty was on the first row. She came three hours early to get a better spot to drool over Ash!”
Leaf couldn’t help but laugh too. May always teased the two. She and Drew’s main goal is life was to tease Ash and Misty; it was so fun watch them blush like crazy and deny the facts.
Ash made a face at May and Drew. Misty just sat down and messed with the back of her head. The two were outside school, waiting for someone as they claimed. Leaf didn’t know who. She just waited too as they asked her to keep them company.
“And trust me, Misty doesn’t even like hockey and she has no idea what’s it about!”
“Hey! I know what’s it about!” Misty crossed her legs and put her handbag on her lap. Leaf was up, facing her. She giggled because what Drew said was very true.
“Oh yeah?
“Okay guys, enough, this is really getting annoying,” Ash looked between his friends. He took Misty’s handbag and used it as a support to roll his marijuana cigarette on. Misty gasped at Ash’s gesture, put her hand over her cheek and turned to the other side, clearly irritated. He just couldn’t stop smoking those crappy drugs.
“What are we even doing here?” Leaf asked turning to every side, but no one seemed to care.
“Misty would do great in hockey. She’d knock out everyone.”
“Drew! I hate you!”
“That’s not how you compliment a woman,” Ash told Drew with a small smirk as he lighted up his joint. He pulled it away and as soon as he exhaled the thick smoke, Drew jumped at him and snatched the joint out of his hands. He inhaled.
“Drew doesn’t even know basic stuff.”
“Ohohohoh, stop right there May, right there.”
Ash and Misty burst out in hard laughter—because they knew what was May talking about. Ash got back his joint before Drew smoked it all.
“Not everyone is good in bed, chill.”
“First, I’m not bad in bed; second, I thought this conversation was about Misty and Ash?”
“Not anymore.”
“You little shit.”
Drew snatched the spliff again. Ash let him have it this time. He was starting to feel too light anyway, and he didn’t want to meet his father’s face all laughing and looking ridiculous.
“Guys! Why are we even here? Someone answer me!”
Everyone turned to look at Leaf. She didn’t look happy at all; she looked irritated and furious. The four exchanged looks between them, and that is when Leaf knew they were really hiding something.
“I’m leaving then!”
“No wait!” her childhood friend jumped at her and grabbed her arms. Misty, May and Drew left and Leaf was wondering what the hell was happening.
“Ash? What’s wrong?”
“Look, can you do something for me? Please?”
Leaf has never felt so confused like this before. She narrowed her eyes at the raven haired, who wasn’t even looking at her. He was looking behind her.
It hit her. Leaf turned around. She gasped at the sight and then tried quickly to get out of Ash’s grip.
“Ash! I don’t want to talk to him! Let go of me!”
“Please! Look baby girl—I know it has been messed up between you two-”
“I’m not talking to Gary! Let go of me!”
“Please!”
Ash hasn’t realized how strong Leaf was until today. Gary walked over to the bench and sat down, calm as ever. Leaf gave him horrified looks. She hated his guts!
“I don’t want to!”
“For me! Dot it for me! Please baby girl! For me? Please? Pleaaaase?”
Deep inside, Leaf wanted to talk to him again, but she just couldn’t let her feelings take over her again. Gary hurt her and he wasn’t worth her time anymore. She has not addressed him a word in weeks now.
The brunette girl gave up though. She put her arms down and stopped resisting. Ash gave her the sweetest smile he could afford. “I’m gonna leave you two alone now. Is that good?”
“Okay.”
“Good. I love you.”
Ash hugged her and kissed her cheek. He then exchanged a quick glance with Gary and left quickly, joining Drew, May and Misty who they were probably watching from somewhere. Leaf knew them too well.
“Sit down.”
“No.”
Leaf’s answer was crude and dry. It did not shock Gary one bit though.
“Okay, whatever you s-”
“How can you even try looking at my face, Gary? Do you even think? Do you have a brain?”
Gary stared up at her for a little moment. He shrugged his shoulders, “Obviously.”
Leaf rolled her eyes. What was she thinking anyway?
“Did Ash plan all this or what? I’m not even… oh God.”
Leaf hid her face with her hands. She finally sat down beside Gary—making sure the gap between her and him was big enough.
When she pulled her hands away, she found Gary staring her with a light blush on the face and a large smirk. She was about to slap him but soon regain herself, “What—what the hell?”
“Do you know how much of a turn on you are when you’re angry?”
Leaf couldn’t take it anymore.
SLAP!
“You cheated on me! I hate your face! I hate you!”
Gary pulled up his head slowly. He was slightly shocked though. He never thought Leaf would slap him someday.
“You’re so selfish and arrogant! You never thought about me in our relationship! It was always about you; just you!”
“No it wasn’t.”
“That’s why you didn’t cheat on me right?”
“You know that was a mistake. I was drunk.”
“I don’t want to hear your stupid argument anymore…” Leaf shook her head to herself as she got up, “I’ve had enough of your crap, Gary.”
“Leaf, at least listen to what I have to sa-”
“You don’t have anything to say…” the girl’s voice was shaken. She sounded as if she was about to burst in tears. “Everyone gets drunk, even me, but seriously, I don’t sleep with freshmen and give them my phone number. Stop trying to prove me wrong; it’s not working.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry. I don’t need your sorry. I don’t want anything from you anymore. I just want to leave now and never see you again.”
“Then why were you at hockey practice two days ago? I thought you didn’t want to see me?”
Leaf gulped. She started to panic, “You—you asshole. I came to see Ash—oh god you thought I came for you? Seriously?”
“Well, I thought you came for me…” Gary told her, running a hand through his hair. He had a very discreet and slight smirk on the face, “and plus, Ash’s big brother came back home two days ago. Ash didn’t come to practice so he can spend some time with him.”
“Really—oh well I probably haven’t noticed—well I really came for him you know…”
“You don’t even know if Ash was there or not, Leaf.”
Leaf sat down again very slowly. She held her head in her hands. “And Ash was there. His brother got home ten days ago. We even went to say hi, Leaf.”
Leaf couldn’t believe she got herself in such horrible and embarrassing situation.
“And you did not notice he was there…”
“Okay fine!” Leaf turned toward Gary, “I came to see you, but you don’t have to feel all egoistic and happy about it! I just wanted to see if you were doing—doing well without m-me!”
“And what do you think? Am I doing well?”
Actually, Gary sucked at that practice. Coach was yelling at him all the time for being inactive and too slow. He was just skating around, twirling off with his stick.
“No…”
“Have I ever asked Ash for a favor?”
“Uh… no…”
“So?”
“Are you trying to get sympathy or what?”
“Leaf, I love you. I don’t want to let this crappy mistake I did ruin it.”
“But it did! You just don’t expect to cheat on me then get forgiven easily for it!”
“I don’t, but I expect you to think about it at least.”
Gary reduced the gap between him and Leaf. He placed both his hands over Leaf’s cheeks, “I can’t think of a day when you weren’t on my mind, love. I’d kill to get you again by my side. I’d die so you can survive, love. I love you too much it’s impossible. I’ve loved you since I can remember. You have no idea.”
“Gary, this doesn’t make sense anymore-”
“Sleeping with that girl was a total mistake, I know it. But I swear, love, I absolutely don’t even remember what happened. I don’t even remember when and where. I still don’t. It was always about you, love, always.”
“This doesn’t give you the right to cheat.”
“Nothing gives me the right to cheat. I admit I made a mistake, but I want us back again. I want you to forgive me.”
Leaf let him kiss her on the lips. His kiss was quick and light. Gary pulled away again, his hands still holding Leaf’s face.
“Please?”
“Only because that would make Ash happy.”
“You’re silly, love.”
“Hey, if it wasn’t for him, I would have never agreed on staying and talking to you!”
“You sure?”
Gary’s smirk killed Leaf. She’d start trembling, blush a tomato red, and start pulling at her hair stressfully. Leaf’s breathing was loud. She sighed.
“I love you too,” told her Gary with a chuckled and leaned forward to kiss her again.
THE END.
