𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐘-𝐒𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍 | Dracarys

{ Daenerys }

✧✦✧

𝕮oren stood to Daenerys' right, his arms folded across his chest as they entered back into the now, quite familiar, large courtyard. He didn't like this, the whole plan, and Drogon's screaming and crying in the crate wasn't making it any better.

He wasn't exactly sure what the plan was, but all he knew was that Daenerys wasn't going to give her dragon up, so something was happening with Drogon.

Guards bustled around them, along with the citizens of Astapor and Coren shared a brief look with Missandei, who was the newest person to come into Daenerys' service. The woman was quiet, timid and never quite met his eye, but she seemed nice enough. Unlike most people who came to seek out Daenerys, she seemed kind and sweet, and unlikely to hurt a fly.

The sound of the master, Kraznys, speaking High Valyrian drifted towards them causing Missandei to translate swiftly.

"The master says they are untested. He says you would be wise to blood them early." Coren hummed at the thought, sharing a look with Barristan Selmy, who stood behind him with Jorah. Daenerys did not meet any of their eyes. "There are many small cities between here and there, cities ripe for sacking. Should you take captives, the masters will buy the healthy ones and for a good price."

They began to walk past rows and rows of soldiers, dressed in black leather armour and staring straight forward. There were masses of these soldiers, enough to destroy even the largest Dothraki hoard. Drogon screeched again, bumping around in his cage as Coren watched the back of Daenerys' head.

"And who knows? In ten years, some of the boys you send them may be Unsullied in their turn." Missandei continued to translate as they came to a stop in front of Kraznys. "Thus, all shall prosper."

Daenerys nodded, before turning back to the crate. Coren watched her walk over to it, undoing the binds on the door and opening it to help Drogon out of the crate. The dragon screeched, stretching his wings and flying into the air as Daenerys held onto him with the chain that was attached to his foot. For a moment, Daenerys' violet eyes met Coren, and he was met by steely determination.

He shot her a grin in response. If she was this confident then he would trust in her.

She passed Drogon over to Kraznys, who handed her a leather whip in response. He barely paid her any heed, staring up at the dragon greedily though Coren knew that it was a fool's hope for the man to ever control the dragon. Drogon was the most wilful of all four dragons, known for his inability to follow orders or listen to anyone apart from Daenerys.

"Is it done then?" She looked at the whip in her hands, cocking an eyebrow. "They belong to me?"

Missandei and Kraznys had a short conversation before Missandei looked back at Daenerys.

"It is done." Missandei nodded, and Kraznys said something else. "You hold the whip."

Daenerys hummed in agreement, before turning and walking back to the Unsullied. Drogon continued to cry and screech, even going so far as to look at Coren despite his dislike for the man but Coren's eyes were fixed on Daenerys. He wanted to know how her little plot was going to unfold.

She stopped in front of them, calling out to the army, as they all stood to attention. Coren's eyebrows shot up. He might not know the language, but he could vaguely recognise the accent, though he had only ever heard it on Missandei and Kraznys. Coming from Daenerys, it was sweeter in a sense.

"Did she just-" Coren trailed off, looking at Missandei. "Was that High Valyrian?"

"Yes." Missandei looked just as shocked, standing on Coren's other side as they watched her command the Unsullied.

The Unsullied marched forward, before halting as Kraznys began to talk again. Daenerys turned, a smirk playing on her lips, as High Valyrian spilled from her mouth. It was like poisoned honey, sweet but the smirk that played on her lips told Coren that Daenerys was incredibly joyful about bringing some form of payback on the man. It also meant that she knew Kraznys was insulting them the entire time. She turned, shouting above the clamour as the Unsullied began to stab the masters walking along the rows of soldiers.

"She is telling them to strike down the masters, and the soldiers and any man who holds the whip but not the children." Coren drew his sword, making sure that Missandei stood behind him as he listened to her translation. "She is asking them to strike the chains off of every slave that they see."

"Did you know of this?" Jorah called, joining Coren's side. "Did you know that this was the plan?"

"I knew there was a plan."

"You did not tell us?" Jorah hissed as Coren hummed and shrugged.

"She did not tell me the plan, I guessed that she would do something like this. I did not think she would willingly give up one of her dragons."

Kraznys was still calling behind them, and Daenerys held a placating hand out to Coren before turning to look at the master. Finally, one word of Valyrian slipped from her mouth, a word that Coren knew remarkably well for he had said it often enough.

"Dracarys." Coren turned, watching as Drogon spun around and opened his mouth. Flames engulfed Kraznys, causing the man to begin to scream as the Unsullied turned their gaze onto the other soldiers all around, slaughtering them where they stood and killing the townspeople quickly.

"You are robbing me of my fun." Coren pointed at the woman, who turned to look at him. Drogon was now loose, burning the city down around them as Coren joined his queen's side. "I wanted to kill him. I knew that he was being rude about you."

"Oh yes, he was horrible about me. But, if I let you kill him, it would be long and painful and you would savour it." Daenerys corrected as Coren watched the carnage, before turning to nod at her. "And I meant what I said, I do not want to be the cause of blood on your hands."

"Spoilsport." Coren shook his head in mock disappointment as he stayed by her side. He was her guard, and if anyone came near her, either to get revenge from her setting the Unsullied on them, or to kill her, he would strike them down. "I had plans for that man."

"Oh, I am sure." Daenerys rolled her eyes. "But now, it is sorted. The Unsullied have been blooded early, though I despise the term, the slave masters have had their comeuppance and Drogon has let out some pent up anger."

"It is a very clever plan, is that what you wish to hear, Khaleesi?" Coren teased, hearing Drogon's roar carry further up the city. "I'll have our soldiers fetch the horses and the other dragons. I presume we shall be leaving?"

"You are correct." Daenerys nodded, as Coren called for some of the Dothraki, laying out the plans, as they hurried back to encampment to bring the horses and other dragons up. At last, they would be leaving this gods forsaken city.

✧✦✧

Everywhere Daenerys turned, there were charred bodies and still smouldering piles of carts. Drogon had been all too happy to continue burning if she had not pulled him in and now, the large dragon was soaring with his brothers above them. A hand reached for hers but she dodged it, climbing onto her horse, a grey similar to her last one. Coren was behind her in an instant, his horse snorting and pawing at the ground as they got ready to leave.

The Unsullied in front of them were back in formation, and Daenerys began to ride through them, Coren and Missandei on her heels.

"Unsullied! You have been slaves all your life. Today, you are free." She could hear Missandei translating her words behind her for the benefit of her Westerosi guards who did not understand the language. "Any man who wishes to leave, may leave and no one will harm him. I give you my word. Will you fight for me? As free men?"

It was silent for a moment, not a word being spoken between any of the soldiers and Daenerys was worried that she had perhaps, overstepped some sort of boundary. One Unsullied began to tap his spear on the sand, others joining him until the sound became thunderous and unanimous.

Relief fell over Daenerys', her shoulders untensing as she took that as a left, leading them out of the courtyard and then out of the city, ready for the long trek to reach the sea for Westeros.

The dragons swooped overhead and Daenerys threw the whip to the side, ready to be rid of it. She had no use for it, none at all.

Hiya,

So, oops, this was kind of weird to write. I don't know why, this chapter just was a little harder than the rest, but yes, I love Coren and Dany and I'm so excited for you guys to see Missandei and Coren's friendship, because they're such sweet siblings. Also, Falkor hasn't been here for a chapter and I miss him, so he'll be back soon.

Yes, let me know what you think,

Love Li xx
