"I was made of light,
but you, your darkness is the only thing that makes me feel alive."

NILAY

.....

"You only have one man," Nilay said as he raised a finger and pointed directly at himself while his eyes never left hers as he continued, "One man. Me."

He leaned in closer while his breath was warm against her ear as his words were almost a growl. "Nilay Piyush Khanna. Your husband. Your man"

There was no room for argument in his tone, no space for doubt.

Sunaina's heart raced, her breath caught in her throat, the weight of his words and changed in demeanor bewildered her, "What's wrong with my pookie?".

Sunaina blinked her small eyes, looking directly at him.

Nilay's eyes traveled over her from head to toe before he pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her waist.

His cold hand brushed against her bare back, sending chills through her. When the strap of her gown slipped down her shoulder, Nilay gently adjusted it back into place.

"These wings tattoo on the back is beautiful", Nilay said and Sunaina's eyes sparkled with mischief as she decided to tease him.

"Husband! How do I look in this dress?" she asked playfully.

Nilay's brows furrowed as he looked at her and his expression was growing serious.

"You look good. It's the first time I'm seeing you in something different", he replied in a calm tone.

Sunaina was taken aback as her eyes were widening in disbelief at his response.

"Are you serious?" Sunaina exclaimed as her shock turned into a playful annoyance.

"How can you just say I’m looking good? Where’s your possessive side? Husbands are supposed to be possessive when their wives wear revealing clothes!" Sunaina said in a  teasing tone while crossing her arms.

"Why should I control your choice of clothes? It’s your body, your choice. If you are comfortable in this and want to wear it, who am I to stop you?", Nilay replied calmly.

Sunaina stared at him as she was stunned by his response. She hadn’t expected such an answer.

"Why are you like this? I thought you’d at least get jealous or something", she mumbled as her playful tone faltered.

Nilay smirked slightly as he stepped closer while his voice was calm yet commanding.

He said while his eyes were locked with hers, "Jealousy isn’t my style, wife. Confidence is. Besides, I don’t need to be possessive. You’re the one who will scream to the world that you belong to me".

Sunaina’s heart skipped a beat at his words and a mixture of excitement and challenge stirring within her. She raised an eyebrow while her lips were curled into a teasing smile.

"Oh, really? And how do you expect me to do that?", she said as her voice was low and playful.

Nilay's gaze darkened with a hint of amusement. He replied in a more serious tone now, as he took another step toward her while closing the distance between them.

"You will find a way, wife. After all, I will make sure the world knows exactly who you belong to".

Sunaina's heart skipped as she felt butterflies flapping its wings in her stomach.

Suddenly, she looked up at him and her eyes were sparkling with mischief. Her voice was laced with challenges as she said, "But pookie, other men will look at your wife. Will you accept that?"

Nilay’s gaze intensified with a faint smirk on his lips. He said in a calm tone yet full of authority, "Let them look. But they will never have you. that's all that matters."

Sunaina felt a thrill run through her at his words, but she couldn’t help teasing him further.

"So, you’re okay with everyone staring but no one touching?", she asked as her voice was dripping with playfulness.

Nilay’s smirk deepened and his eyes were narrowing as he took another step closer.

He murmured while his breath warmed against her ear, "They can look all they want. But if anyone dares to touch, they will have to answer to me".

Sunaina's breath caught at his words and a shiver ran down her spine. She looked up at him while her eyes were darkened with a mix of desire and challenge.

This was what she had always wanted to hear and witness - the possessive side of Nilay, her husband.

"I like it, Nilay. I like this side of yours," she teased as her voice was soft yet daring.

Nilay's gaze hardened and his jaw tightened as he leaned in closer.

He whispered while his lips were brushing against her ear, "I don't need to show it to everyone and you don’t know me as well as you think".

Sunaina’s smile faltered and was replaced by a slight frown.

"What? What do you mean?" she asked him but Nilay didn’t respond immediately.

His sharp gaze shifted toward the spot where Divita's lifeless body had been just moments ago. The Shadow Guards had already taken it away and left no trace.

Noticing his sudden silence, Sunaina followed his line of sight, her brows were furrowing deeper as her eyes scanned the empty space.

"Where's the dead Divita and who were those people?", Sunaina asked him but Nilay did not reply and safely dragged Sunaina out of the ball room.

The back side of the ball was secure for them. Sunaina was speechless as her ear piece pinged 'Princess! Chaos is over. The King is safe. We are leaving'.

Sunaina took a deep breath as she stepped in the car and Nilay sat beside her.

A sense of unease began to settle over her as she thought, 'Nilay, what are you hiding from me?'.

On the other side, a storm of satisfaction brewed in Nilay’s heart. It was dark and intoxicating. He had finally achieved what he had been scheming for the last few months.

A carefully orchestrated move that brought him closer to his ultimate goal- His wife.

The thrill of victory coursed through his veins and the faintest smirk tugged at his lips as he reveled in the knowledge that every piece was falling perfectly into place.

"If you are wicked then I'm not a saint, Wife", Nilay thought as he pulled her close to his body while his fingers were tracing over the wings tattoo on her back.

"I'm not heartless, I've just learned to use my heart less but this person started to stir my heart. She acts shy but i know that she is actually a shy-taan; another name of Devil; A shaitan", Nilay's smirk deepened while looking at her perplexed face.
