"My wife is not
Fragile like a flower
She is fragile
-Like a BOMB"

NILAY

...

The door opened, and Nilay walked into the Khanna Mansion. The main hall was dark, and he stood there without moving.

Suddenly, a soft light turned on, and he saw her.

Sunaina.

She was wearing a pink saree and looked very cute. But what really caught his attention were the henna designs on her hands that held a small cake and a birthday candle's soft light was cast on her face.

His eyes clashed with her and he forgot to breathe.

Sunaina's cheeks burned as she felt slightly awkward at this moment. She gave him a big smile and said, "Happy Birthday, Husband."

Nilay's eyes widened a little. He had completely forgotten about his birthday. He had been so busy with meetings with the Russians that it slipped his mind.

Nilay didn't say anything, and Sunaina frowned.

"What's wrong with you? You should appreciate your wife's effort. Look how hard I and our babies worked for you", she said as she pouted.

But Nilay stayed silent again.
Sunaina blinked, and suddenly, something clicked in her mind.

"Oh! Nilay! I'm sorry. You came after a long flight, you must be tired and here I am, being childish. I'm sorry, Naina just wanted to be with you on your birthday. It's your first birthday with me... I... I..." she said softly and her voice grew low and shook unknowingly.

Nilay pressed his lips together, and his throat moved as he swallowed hard. He walked a few steps closer, blew out the candle, and looked at her.

"Thank you," he whispered.

Suddenly, a strong light fell on them. Sunaina stared at Nilay and her heart tightened. She could feel something was wrong with him.

Nilay took a deep breath and asked,
"Where's everyone? Mom, Dad... and your henchwings?"

Sunaina smiled and said while placing the cake on the table, "They're on the other side of the mansion. Mom helped me. Dad cooked your favorite meal. Oh! And how's the decoration? T-Rex blew the balloons!".

She laughed a little, then said, "You know, I don't really know anything about birthdays and celebrations. I only know about attack and defense. I'm nervous, Nilay. I planned this surprise for you. But you..."

Before she could finish, Nilay suddenly pulled her into a tight, bone-crushing hug.

Sunaina gasped softly and felt the heaviness in his embrace. Nilay buried his face in the crook of her neck.

Without a word, he planted soft, lingering kisses along her neck and shoulder, as if trying to hold on to her warmth, as if grounding himself.

Sunaina stood still, feeling his quiet desperation. She gently raised her hands and wrapped them around him, holding him just as tightly.

Neither of them spoke. Only the sound of their hearts beating filled the room.

"Nilay! You didn't even tell me... how am I looking?", Sunaina whispered, pulling back a little to look at him.

She showed him her hands, covered in beautiful henna designs.

"Look! It's filled with henna. Do you want to find your name?" she asked with a soft smile as her eyes were shining with love and hope.

Nilay lifted his head slowly as his eyes were dark and intense as he looked at her.

Without saying anything, he gently took her hand, studying the delicate patterns, searching for his name hidden in the design.

"It's beautiful. But why suddenly this henna?", Nilay asked softly, still looking at her hand.

Sunaina lowered her eyes, not daring to tell him the real reason; that she was afraid she might never get the chance again.

Instead, she smiled a little and said,
"Because... I didn't apply it at our wedding."

Nilay's heart ached at her words. He gently brought her hand to his lips and placed a soft kiss over the henna, holding her close without saying a word.

"My Naina is beautiful", Nilay whispered and inhaled the enchanting scent of heena.

Suddenly, and so gently, Nilay lifted her into his arms. Sunaina let out a small gasp and her hands instinctively wrapped around his neck.

Without saying a word, he started moving towards their bedroom, holding her close against his chest.
His steps were steady, but his heart was beating fast as he was feeling her so close, so warm.

Sunaina rested her head on his shoulder, feeling safe and loved.

Neither of them needed words.
Their hearts spoke louder than anything else.

Nilay carefully placed her on the bed. Without letting go, he climbed beside her and wrapped his arms tightly around her.

He rested his head gently on her stomach, not pressing it, not discomforting her. He closed his eyes as if finding peace in her warmth.

Sunaina ran her fingers through his hair softly, feeling his silent emotions through his touch.

Neither of them spoke.

Nilay slowly moved the saree aside, revealing her soft but wealed skin. Her belly was covered with old scars; marks from knives, stitches, and even a gunshot.

The skin wasn't smooth or perfect.
To others, it might look ugly. But to him, it was beautiful.

Every scar told a story of her strength and her survival.

He placed a gentle, lingering kiss on her scarsful belly as his heart was aching with love and pride for her.

Sunaina let out a small, soft moan, but suddenly her body tensed.
She quickly placed her hand on his head and whispered, "Nilay... I know you want me. I want you too... but sex isn't safe right now, in this condition. I'm scared to hurt the babies".

Nilay didn't say a word.

"If you want... I can give you a handjob," Sunaina said softly as if she was trying to make him feel better.

She was still speaking when she suddenly felt something warm in her belly.

Hot drops.

She gasped and quickly made him lift his face to look at her.
Her eyes widened.

"Nilay..." she whispered.

There were tears in his red, stormy eyes. Tears he couldn't hide anymore.

Sunaina's heart tightened painfully.

"What happened?" she asked him.

Nilay stared at her as his jaw clenched and emotions were raging inside him.

"When are you going to tell me the truth, Naina?" he said in a broken voice.

Sunaina's heart dropped.

The weight of his words crushed her chest.

She realized... he knew.

"You...?" Sunaina whispered in disbelief and fear.

Nilay closed his eyes for a moment, trying to control the storm inside him.

When he opened them again, the pain was clear.

"This pregnancy will kill you," he said in trembling voice.

He tightened his hold on her, like he was afraid she would disappear.

"When were you planning to tell me, Naina?", His question stabbed her heart deeply, making it hard for her to breathe.

Sunaina's lips quivered.

She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she clutched his shirt tightly, feeling like the ground beneath her had broken apart.

Sunaina controlled herself as she shot back while tears streaming down.

"And when were you planning to tell me that you went to meet the Russians? Didn't I tell you not to involve yourself in my world? And you went there wearing this black shirt. Why? Russians have an evil woman who likes to steal men. I have to hang a lemon and chillies around your neck. Don't you know you are too handsome to catch the attention of witches. Now, tell me what should I do with you?".

Her emotions were finally spilling out. Her heart ached as she looked at him. Her love, her obsession and fear were all clouding her thoughts.

Nilay's face darkened as his hands were balling into fists as he tried to hold back his own flood of emotions.

He opened his mouth to speak, but the words seemed stuck.

For a moment, they both just stared at each other, the weight of the truth heavy between them.

The silence felt suffocating.

"Tomorrow, we are going to terminate the pregnancy", Nilay said coldly.

And the words hit Sunaina like a slap across her face, leaving her stunned and breathless.

Her heart sank and everything around her seemed to blur.

This... this was what she had been so terrified of.

The fear she had kept hidden, locked away in her heart, had now become a harsh reality.

Sunaina's eyes welled up with tears, but she couldn't speak.

Her chest felt tight, as if there was no air left to breathe. She didn't know how to fight him, how to explain.

All she knew was that the thought of losing her babies was unbearable.
