You're momentarily stunned, feeling like the ground beneath you has shifted.
He can't be serious.
But the look on his face says otherwise.
Exhaustion hangs heavy in your exhale as you find yourself overwhelmed by the situation. "You're unbelievable."
With a firm yet weary move, you push Jungkook's arm away from the door.
He lets you do that. Even after you shut the door, a palpable tension lingers in the air, leaving the unresolved emotions between you hanging heavily.
You decide to you occupy yourself by emptying your belongings from your bags.
An hour passes by and mom enters the room, finding you settled in bed engrossed in watching paranormal investigation shows.
She stands in the doorway, observing you with a tender look as she takes in the scene.
"Why aren't sleeping, sweetheart?" She probably has an extra card key to your room.
"I'm not tired."
Wrapped snuggly in the blanket like a cozy burrito, you lie on your stomach, fully engrossed in the screen and the program you're viewing.
"Do you like your room?"
As mom settles next to you, she gently brushes back your hair before planting a loving kiss on your head.
In response to her question, you hum in acknowledgment, expressing slight contentment but not fully enthusiastic, stating, "It's alright."
However, in a sudden show of affection, she embraces your makeshift "burrito house," wrapping her arms around the bundled blankets encircling you.
"You don't need to join us if you don't want to. Do you want me to have them bring your dinner here instead?"
You turn to her, nodding your head. "Yes please."
She caresses your cheek, whispering an "Okay." before standing up. "I'll let you rest then."
You watch her leave the room and exhale as the door closes.
In the stillness of the late night, you find yourself awaking from your slumber, compelled by a restless urge to explore the shore.
Wrapping a jacket around your form, you step out into the cool evening air and make your way to the edge of the beach.
The crisp ocean air washes over you, sending shivers down your spine.
From a distance, your gaze lands on a familiar figure perched on the ground, immersed in contemplation as they confront the endless expanse of the ocean.
Suddenly, Jisung appears out of nowhere and spots you.
With a cheery wave and a friendly greeting, he exclaims, "Noona!"
His presence catches your attention, and you see Jungkook turn his head, dark locks dancing in the evening breeze.
Bursting with contagious energy, Jisung rushes toward you, his excitement radiating from his broad smile.
He grabs your hand and begins to tug you along, his words brimming with intrigue and anticipation.
"You'll never believe what I found. I was just walking over there and saw a tiny crab and it's—you need to see it."
You've never seen him this excited before. And to think he's like this because of a crab.
With an infectious energy, he leads you to a small hole on the ground and prompts you to kneel next to him.
Despite your initial lack of excitement, you force a response.
"Oh wow," you reply, feigning interest as a chill creeps down your spine.
That's not something you'd want to see any day.
When Jisung lifts the crab from the hole, your eyes widen with a mix of surprise and trepidation.
Instinctively, you lean back, unable to hide your discomfort.
So maybe you have a subtle dislike to crustaceans or insects that make your skin crawl.
You forgot about the person behind you.
Jungkook shifts, an arm firmly encircling your body, fingers finding purchase in the sand for support.
To your surprise, his chin comes to rest adjacent to your shoulder, the unexpected closeness creating an unsettling sensation within you.
There's a silent exchange of words between the two that causes Jisung to widen his eyes in realization. The boy draws the crab out of your line of sight. "Oh."
In that instant, a sense of relief washes over you, the tension in your body dissipating.
The sight of the crab being removed from your close proximity brings a temporary respite, momentarily alleviating the unexpected unease you felt earlier.
"I-I'll go put it back." He says, standing.
Clearing your throat , you reach out a hand to the side, using it as leverage to shift your body position and to put distance between you.
Your mind travels back to what he said earlier and you can't help but bring it up.
If you don't want this to bother you in the future, you have to draw the line right now.
"Jungkook, about what you said earlier—"
"I'm not taking it back."
"To be honest. I don't know what you're planing to gain from telling me that. And even if what you said was true, you don't actually think I'd feel anything for you after all we've been through, right?"
He rests his arms on top of his knees, glaring at the ocean.
"I guess what I'm trying to say is, I think it'll be better for both of us if we pretended as though we don't know each other."
Jisung returns to you at a swift pace and you greet him with a warm smile, raising your arm in a request for assistance to stand. He swiftly grasps your hand in a firm but gentle hold and guides you to your feet. "Do you want to get something to eat? I'm starving."
"I thought you already had dinner though."
"I did. But I'm still hungry. Let's go?"
The Following Day
Your outfit perfectly encapsulated the essence of the beach getaway. You donned a flowing white sundress that ended just above your knees, gracefully swaying with every movement you made.
Your choice of jewelry for the day is a necklace that carries a touch of oceanic inspiration. The necklace design is reminiscent of the sea, featuring a swirling wave pattern.
The fabric billowed gently around you as the ocean breeze playfully caressed your body.
You allow your hair to hang loose, flowing down your back like a silken waterfall.
Mrs Jeon's the first to see you and her eyes lights up. She nudges your mom's arm. "I told you she'd look great in that dress."
Compared to last night, the beach now presents a pristine and enticing scene that is a visual delight. You notice Jisung standing amidst the waves, his face illuminated with a radiant smile as he revels in the moment of joy.
The clear waters and the brilliant sunlight bouncing off them create a picturesque setting, while Jisung's carefree expression adds a touch of enchantment and happiness to the entire scene.
A beach tent stands as a tall, spacious structure with a waterproofed covering designed to shield an expansive area beneath it.
The framework of the tent consists of sturdy, adjustable poles or supports that form a solid structure, while the top is made of lightweight, durable material to provide ample protection from the elements.
This type of beach tent can accommodate a significant number of people, offering shade from the intensity of direct sunlight.
"That looks yummy." You hover beside your mom as she tastes her homemade fermented cucumber.
With an approving nod, she lets you try it too, grabbing another piece and putting it in your mouth.
"Is it good?"
You nod as the flavor bless your taste buds.
While dad and Mr. Jeon are busy grilling the meat, mom and Mrs Jeon are preparing the side dishes.
"Y/n dear, please give this to your dad." Mrs Jeon points at the marinated beef and you do just that.
"There's my little girl." Dad gives you a side hug, taking the tray of meat away from you. "Did you rest well last night?"
"I slept like a rock." They look a little goofy with pink aprons on.
"Well that's good. Tonight they're having a fire performance and we definitely can't miss that." Mr Jeon chimes in with a barbecue thong in his hand.
"Y/n, can you help out with the salad?"
"Coming!"
"Thanks dear. I'll go prepare Jaeden's bottle real quick."
Grabbing a knife, you start chopping the vegetables for the salad. Mom suddenly circles the table and fixes your hair up with a yellow flower hair tie.
You catch a fleeting glimpse of the blossomin accessory.
She proceeds to examine your face with a nod of approval before returning back to her post
Jungkook shows up with a towel draped around his neck, hair drenched and clinging to his forehead. His white shirt adheres to his physique as if it were a second skin.
"Kook, go bring me the rest of the chicken. It's on the table." His father immediately orders.
The boy pauses near the table, initially casting a cursory glance your way before shifting his attention to the tray laid out before him.
However, his gaze returns to you for a second time, a flicker of surprise evident in his expression.
"You look like a girl." His unexpected remark catches both you and your mom off guard.
Your eyebrows immediately furrow in response to his comment, expressing your initial offense at his words.
Your mom on the other hand quickly struggles to conceal laugh, clearly finding humor in the situation.
The contrast between your indignation and your mom's stifled amusement creates a momentary tension filled with mixed emotions and subtle implications.
"I am one."
"Right." He pokes the inside of his cheek, observing you. "You look pretty."
Before you have a chance to even respond, Jungkook turns and begins walking away.
Mom's facial expression remains as one of sheer amusement, eyes twinkling with suppressed laughter.
"He's crazy."
"About you? I guess you're right."
"Mom!"
"Okay, okay. I'll stop." She discreetly turns her face to the side and gently clears her throat, you get a sense that she's intentionally controlling her facial expressions to maintain a composed demeanor.
All you can do is bite your tongue at this situation.
Even as Jungkook stands beside his father, he can't seem to take his eyes off of you,
