That date you were supposed to have with Zheyuan? Not happening anymore. You're grounded so the only places you're allowed to go is school and house.
And on top of that, mom's making Jungkook keep an eye on you.
You get on a bus and he takes the empty seat beside you. Neither of you bothered talking but you're itching to tell him to get lost. Turning to him, you suggest. "Let's switch seats."
That way you'll be closer to the exit and easily ditch him when the time comes. Surprisingly, he agrees to the idea. The bus starts moving and he takes out his phone. You catch a glimpse of his screen to see a bunch of text messages of the random people asking him out.
Without reading any of them, he deletes them.
"You know, you should leave me alone and be with your girlfriend."
"Why?"
"Cause you're an eyesore."
"Thanks." Words laced with amusement.
"That wasn't a compliment." You grin. "You being here makes me wanna rip my eyes out so please." Your face turns serious. "Leave me alone."
"Open your mouth."
"Wha-"
Taking the opportunity, he pushes a cherry candy past your teeth, surprising you. The flavor meets your tastebuds and you find yourself wondering what kind of candy it was.
As if he can read your mind, he takes your palm and slaps a handful of candies.
"Uh thanks." You say, blinking. "But I still think you're an eyesore."
Fifteen minutes goes by and you're the first to rush out the bus when it stops. With this speed, you bet you'd easily win a race.
Mom's in the kitchen making dinner and she widens her eyes when she sees you gasping for air by the entrance.
"How many times have I told you not to run, sweetheart." She reminds you with a strict tone, coming nearer to wipe the sweat from your forehead. She's being quite aggressive too. "Go upstairs and wash up. After that, wear something nice. We're having dinner with the Jeons."
"What?"
"They'll be here any minute so shoo." She ushers you to get going and then returns to her cooking. So your running effort's gone to waste. You'll still see that face of his.
Distraught, you head to your room and lock yourself. Tossing your bag aside, you wash up and slip on some comfy clothes before burying yourself in bed. So if anyone asks, you died from exhaustion.
It doesn't take long before you finally fall asleep.
-
Jungkook taps the table consistently. It's been an hour since they arrived.
His mother's in kitchen helping out with dinner and his father's talking business with your dad.
Jisung's taking forever to the make the next move in chess and he's literally dying of boredom.
"Your turn, hyung."
Without thinking too much, he moves the horse. "Checkmate."
Jisung blinks his eyes, pursing his upper lip into a pout as he decides his next move.
Jungkook suddenly stands.
"Where are you going?"
"Upstairs."
Jisung's eyes sparks up. "You're not planning to wake Y/n up, right?"
Jungkook raises an eyebrow at the sudden loss of his brother's formality.
"Do you seriously want to stay here until dinner's ready?"
Jisung gives it a thought and shakes his head. He's still hesitant when he says. "But she's asleep."
"Yeah and? We can just wake her up. No problem. Come on."
He leads the both of them upstairs and approach your door only to realize that it's locked. "They usually keep their keys in their bedroom."
Says the older sibling. Jisung follows his brother to the master bedroom and watches as he pulls a key from the drawer.
Returning to your door, Jungkook inserts the key and it unlocks.
"Are you really gonna wake her up?" Jisung whispers. The only source of light illuminating the room comes from the window.
You're sleeping on your stomach and your face angles towards their direction.
"I think we should leave. She looks tired." The young Jeon suggests.
"You can leave if you want." Jungkook answers, clearly annoyed. The latter isn't approaching the bed though. Instead, he's walking around the room. When he finds your bag, he puts his hand inside.
Then he moves to the desk when your gadgets are. Taking a sit, he unlocks your phone and scrolls through the messages.
"Who's Hazel?"
Jisung asks with curiosity.
"Just come chick she hangs around with." Jungkook continues to eye the conversation and Jisung finds himself doing the same thing.
"Yikes. Y/n, really you uh."
"She's still older than you, you punk."
Jisung pouts. "Didn't take her as the type to curse. Guess I was wrong."
Humming, Jungkook exists the messages and decides to scroll through your contacts. When he comes across Zheyuan's name, he deletes it, making Jisung widen his eyes.
"You did not just do that. She'll know someone messed with her phone."
"Yeah, well bad for her."
"Don't tell me you're jealous?"
Silence.
"Hyung-"
He cuts him off. "Keep your voice down. You're gonna wake her up for crying out lo-"
"What are you two doing here?" It's unbelievable how these two literally had the audacity to enter your room and make hyena noises. "Well?"
Jisung points at his brother. You get up and switch the lights on, trying to maintain a calm demeanor.
"It's Hyung's fault."
You pinch the space between your eyes and let out a sigh. This is what you wake up to.
"I told him it was a bad idea but he didn-"
"Okay, listen. I don't care whose idea those was. So can you two just please leave the room?" You tell them, yawning. "I'm too tired for this."
Jisung nods his head and whispers a 'sorry' before walking out first. Jungkook on the other hand stays behind.
You raise an eyebrow at him. "Can you leave?"
"I messed with your phone. I know you talk crap about me with your friends and that you hate me. If you notice some contacts missing, that's on me."
What? "How.....you know my password?"
There's so much you want to say but your brain's still in the process of waking up. You stick a mental note to change your password later though.
"Why would you do that?" It's already obvious that you two dislike each other but isn't this too much?
"Cause I hate it."
You sigh. "If you hate something, you ignore it."
"I am."
You stare at the floor, wondering when this conversation will end. You meet his eyes once again. "Then why aren't you ignoring me?"
"I don't know." He says. "Maybe I don't hate you as much as I thought I did."
