Chapter 2

The nausea was not letting up as Christine felt like she was going to throw up as John laid there beside her, snoring away peacefully as she eased herself up, walking to the bathroom.

She walked in and splashed cold water on her face as she noticed her face looked fuller, which she hadn't noticed when she did her makeup that morning from the nausea she heaved up afterwards.

She knew something wasn't right and she needed to see a doctor to figure out what was wrong with her and maybe she had some kind of sickness that she doesn't know about, that's when she made sure to call and make an appointment.

...

John and Christine got back from having an eventful day, shopping and spending the day together as they both fell onto the bed in each other's arms as Christine looked at him.

"I'm going to make a doctor's appointment tomorrow because I can't go one bloody day without feeling like I'm going to get nauseated." Christine said as John sensed some relief to know she finally decided to go to the doctor.

"I'm relieved to know you'll finally know what's been going on with you. You've been sick for awhile and it worries me deeply." He said, kissing her forehead.

"I'm afraid." Christine said as John held her.

"I am too baby, but we'll go whenever you have the appointment and we'll get through it and whether it's good or bad, I'm going to love you through it all." John said as she smiled.

"I love you." She said as John caressed her backside.

"I love you too baby." He said as he held her to him and they fell asleep.

...

The next day

Christine made an appointment for that afternoon as she worried about what could be wrong with her, John stood there admiring his wife, worried if something was wrong with her as scenarios ran through his mind.

"Let's not worry darling, it's probably just a stomach bug." Christine said.

"What if it's not?" John asked.

"Then, we'll get through it. We've been through too much in our life and maybe it's nothing." Christine said.

"I worry if it's something like cancer or something scary remotely close to it. It scares me because if I lost you, I don't know what I'd do." John said as he wiped a tear from his eye.

"I promise you that it's going to be something wonderful and you'll never lose me, not again." Christine said as John scooped her up his his arms and buried his head into the crook of her neck, peppering her shoulder with kisses, which she moaned at the feeling of his lips kissing her neck, one of the sensitive parts of her body.

"You never know when fate will come and I can't lose you again Chrissy, I made that mistake once and I regretted it." John said.

"Like I said darling, it'll never happen and I love you too much for us to go our own way again." Christine said.

"I love you too." John said as he kissed her forehead and they walked hand in hand, downstairs and out to his car as they headed to the doctor.

...

Christine sat nervously on the exam room table, in a paper gown as she also forgot today was the day she scheduled to get a checkup, which was a good thing even if she forgot, which happened a lot lately.

"How could I forget that I scheduled an appointment today?" Christine asked her husband.

"It's just one appointment baby. Maybe because we've been busy trying to plan a tour for our new album, considering that you wanted to all of sudden, plan after we moved here." John said.

"Maybe I'm just losing my mind or my memory." She said as she laid back in the table, closing her eyes but soon opened them to the sound of the door opening and shutting.

"Good morning Christine, John. How are you today?" Dr. Turner asked.

"We're fine. I'm just ready to find out my fate of whatever it is you have to tell me, so doctor, tell me the good news and the bad news. Am I dying?" Christine asked.

"No, but I have I have two things of good news and one bad, so which one do want to hear first?" Dr. Turner asked them.

"I don't know." Christine said weakly as she squeezed John's hand for support, her mind and heart racing at the thought of bad news.

"Tell us the bad news first." John said.

"Okay." Dr. Turner said.

"John honey, I want to hear the good news first. Dr. Turner, please go on and don't listen to him." She said as Dr. Turner looked at the results in Christine's file.

"The first one is you're not dying and you're perfectly fine. There's nothing to stress or worry about, you and John are healthy, so you can take a breath and get all those negative thoughts out of your heads." Dr. Turner said as John worried about the bad news, now that there was nothing wrong with his wife.

"Then, what's the bad news?" John asked.

"The bad news is that you're both over thirty five and it's going to be tough in the beginning and the end but totally amazing all at the same time." Dr. Turner said as John and Christine looked at each other and back at Dr. Turner as if she had lost it.

"What are you trying to say?" Christine asked.

"Is this the second part of good news?" John asked.

"Yes, this is the second part of good news John and Christine, I just wanted to be the first one to say congratulations to you both." Dr. Turner said as John and Christine both were confused.

"I'm confused." Christine said.

"Christine, you're pregnant." Dr. Turner said as Christine looked at her and at that moment, she wanted to throw up like she had been from the beginning.

"I can't be, that's impossible." Christine said.

"That's why we took a blood sample test and since you're over thirty five, I want to see you in two weeks and I'll prescribe you something for your nausea but we have a lot to talk about in two weeks." Dr. Turner said.

"Okay." Christine said as her head was spinning from the idea of her becoming a new mother.

"John, how are you?" Dr. Turner asked.

"I'm in shock!" He said.

"Don't worry honey, you aren't the only one." Christine said.

"I know it's a huge shock to you both but once your little one enters the world in nine, now eight months, everything will fall into place." She said.

"That's why she's been getting sick so much. We're having a baby, which is a huge shock but a great surprise all the way." John said as he put his hands on Christine's stomach.

"Here's your prescription statement for the pharmacy and I hope you both have a wonderful day." Dr. Turner said.

"We will." Christine said as she smiled.

They walked out of the doctor's office as John drove as Christine looked at him.

"Darling?" She questioned.

"Yeah?" He answered.

"How are you feeling about this?" She asked.

"Nervous, happy and excited. You?" He asked.

"Same. I thought that I'd never be a mother because we had such busy lives John, I mean we still do but now, it's about to get a whole lot busier." Christine said.

"I know we didn't plan on it, we did at one point in time but we're going to be parents for real Christine and you're going to be an amazing mother sweetheart." John said as Christine smiled.

"What happens to Fleetwood Mac if I leave to take care of our child?" Christine asked.

"I don't know baby, but all I know is I want to make sure you have all the best care in the world and spoil you rotten." He said.

"John, I'm serious. We can't bring our child into this world and have him or her exposed to all of this world's endless amounts of drugs and alcohol. I won't have that and after he or she is born, I might just leave for good because I didn't have a good reason then and now, I do." Christine said.

"We can bring him or her when they are a baby but after they get older, then we'll decide." John said.

"I've already made my decision and I want to be there for everything. I love him or her so much, it might not have looked like back at the doctor's office but I was in shock and now, I want this new and wonderful adventure more than anything." Christine said as she touched her stomach, his hands falling to hers.

"I know baby and I do too, it's just we won't ever find a keyboardist as good as you. You're our songbird and everything above that and beyond, it'll be hard not to have you there with me." He said.

"I'll be there for as long as I can but I don't know how long since Dr. Turner will probably have me stay at home and rest because like she said, I am over thirty five." Christine said.

"And I fully understand her decision, you need rest but Mick and I will have to find someone to fill your spot until or if you come back." John said.

"It's going to be hard to tell them but we have to." Christine said.

"Next time, when we're in the studio recording, we will." John said as Christine smiled.

"Let's head over to the bookstore, I need to get everything we don't know down about children." Christine said as John nodded and off to the bookstore they went.
