Chapter 1

Of all the things in her life, Christine Anne McVie, being married to the man she truly and only loved again was not in her plans but here she was, riding in the passenger seat of her husband's new car.

It was very unexpected, she decided to take a chance or more like a leap of faith in her life but before she could think of anything else, he turned to her as she looked at him with a questionable look.

"John honey, where are we going?" She asked him.

"Christine darling, I want to get away from Los Angeles. The press is relentless and we can't go anywhere without one showing up and snapping our picture." He said as she licked her lips and closed her eyes, breathing in and out.

"I've thought about it a lot too but I never knew how you would feel about leaving." She said.

"I wanted to leave for so long, but it would be nice to just be together without worrying about someone hiding in our bushes or being around the corner. We'll still have the band and tour but not living in Los Angeles and I know it's not the English countryside or England, but maybe it might be slightly better than what we we're used to." He asked her.

"Of course honey." She said.

"How do you feel about living in the country?" He asked her.

"I wouldn't mind, I forgot what it felt like to live in the country." She said.

"I thought we could go look at places you know while we're not working at this moment. I know you have a few things you're working on but imagine all the ideas that we could work on in a nice, peaceful quiet place. You can't get that in Los Angeles." He said as she smiled.

"It sounds wonderful honey and I could get used to the idea of living in a new place." She said.

"I seen a place I thought you might like while I was visiting and it looked really nice on the outside." He said.

"What kind of house is it and what color?" She asked.

"Now, that is a surprise." He said.

"That's not fair!" She said as he held her hand.

"I just want you to be happy and not spoil anything." He said.

"I am happy, very happy." She said.

"I am too." He said as she smiled.

John drove up to the house, Christine's eyes were still closed as he came to a stop.

"Are we here?" Christine asked.

"Yes." He said as he got out and came over to her side of the car and opened her door, taking her hands into his and putting his hands over her eyes.

"Ready darling?" He asked her.

"Yes!" She said excitedly as he uncovered her eyes and she opened them and was taken by the scenery.

"Oh darling, it's beautiful!" She said as she hugged him.

"Let's go take a look inside." He said.

"Are we allowed to go inside, you know, without the realtor being present?" She asked.

"We own the house, so we're not going to need the realtor unless you don't like it?" He questioned.

"No baby, I love it and c'mon, let's go inside." Christine said as John carried her over the threshold.

...

They had moved into their new home, a yellow, two story country farmhouse with a wide wraparound porch and mahogany wood which was throughout the entire house as the kitchen has been redone to Christine's liking since the home was built almost a hundred years ago. It had been refurbished throughout the years but it needed major work before they could move in. Christine picked white country french marble to accent the kitchen theme with grey and white marble counter tops, island and sink. The appliances were stainless steel and the cabinets were white with grey handles. The furniture like the barstools which were grey and white suede along with the kitchen table and chairs were white with a blacktop table with a marble tray and white lilies sitting in the middle of it along with a couple of crystal candle holders with vanilla candlesticks on each side along with a crystal chandelier hanging above it.

She felt at home when John and a fixer upper company finished the job, she only helped with what she knew which was helping them with the walls and holding various items. She loved her kitchen and prepared a few meals, something she loved doing now more than she did before because the only people who knew where they were living at was hers and John's family and friends.

Christine awoke with a slight feeling in the pit of her stomach as she made a dash to the bathroom and leaned her head in the toilet, feeling sicker than she had felt in a long time. She had been feeling this way for a few days now as she slowly got up and went to brush her teeth and wash her face. She looked in the mirror at her reflection, her blonde hair tousled from sleep and exhaustion written all over her face.

"Must of been something I ate or it must be from travelling. That has to be it." She said as she dried her face as she flushed the toilet and washed her hands.

She walked back into the bedroom and snuggled up against her husband, feeling her eyes grow heavy for sleep as she drifted off to sleep again but to awoken at the sound of her and John's alarm clock as she turned it off, waking him up.

"Good morning sweetheart." He said as he kissed her head.

"Good morning love, sorry I woke you up. I'm not feeling well." She said.

"Let me take your temperature." He said as he grabbed the thermometer.

"I'm fine honey. Just an occasional stomach upset." She said as that feeling arose again.

"Could you excuse me for a moment?" She said as if sounded like a question as she put her hand over her mouth and ran to the bathroom.

"Christine? Are you okay baby?" He asked through the door

John knocked as he entered the bathroom to see his wife, sitting on the lid with her head in her hands, still feeling nauseous as he sat right in front of her.

"John, I'm sick. You don't need to be around me while I'm like this." Christine said as John rubbed the back of her legs.

"It's my job to take care of you baby, so tell me what you need from the store and I'll go pick it up." He said.

"Love, let's take a shower and go to the store to get you some of your favorite things to make you feel better." He continued.

"John honey, I'm sick. I can't go to the store feeling like this. Why don't you just cuddle up with me until I feel better?" She questioned. "Go get whatever it is you think I need later to get this to go away." She said as he looked at her and nodded.

"Is there anything else I can get for after while?" He asked.

"Ice cream and a lots of it." Christine said.

"Let's take a shower and after, put on something comfy." He

"Sounds great." Christine said.

...

John came downstairs as Christine was laying down on the couch, watching one of her many beloved soap operas.

"I'll be back love." John said as he kissed the top of her head.

"Oh, don't forget my ice cream." Christine said as John nodded.

"I got it written down babe, now here's your glass of water and your breakfast is in the microwave, ready whenever you feel like eating it." John said as he kissed her forehead.

"I don't think I can eat it. All I feel like doing is vomiting, no matter what I eat, I end up getting sick." She said.

"You'll feel better when I nurse you back to health." He said.

"This is the worst I have felt in a long time." Christine said.

"You look amazing as always." John said, trying to make her feel better.

"Thanks for trying to make me feel better honey, but maybe it's just my body saying I'm wore out. Working on a new album has been tiring, my mind, body and soul are tired. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to take a nap and relax while you're at the store." Christine said.

"Not at all love. Just take your time to rest and I'll be back soon with everything you need." John said.

"I'll be back soon baby." John said as he kissed her forehead again and walked out as he left for the store as Christine rested on the couch but sleep overtook her overworked body as she fell asleep.
