Five- Gathering time
(A/N OmiLin this chapter is so boring)
A month had past. I was getting used to this place by now. Actually, it's not that bad at all. Everyone here is mean, everyone here are moody teenagers, Mr.Laundry was kind to me and almost no one else, although a special type of kind. Like, mad, but- it's hard to explain. (I also found out his name is actually John André, but I still call him Mr.Laundry for fun)
I spent lots of time hanging out with Thomas and Lafayette, they where great. I was still stuck at second place on the board, and I was determined to have another fight with Charles over it. I had fought ten other people and won every time by now, I can take him.
Especially because I learned a new skill: To turn just one part of my body into a dragon. Like right now, I could give my self just dragon eyes and freak people out. Or only give my self wings, and tell people I'm the devil coming to take them to hell. Although, most peoples responses are:
"Please."
"Took you long enough."
"Did someone seriously think I'd go to heaven?!"
"Take me awayyyyyy!"
"Ah, how's my cat been doing?"
"FINALLY!"
"Marry me."
"Wow, cool."
"Nice power! Can you send my friend Naomi to hell for me?"
Yeah, that was fun. Everyone here knew exactly how to counter a insult, like they memorized comebacks or something. They where all bratty, and knew how to annoy their enemies. Plus they knew how to make things funny, in a gruesome way. I was really liking it here.
And now was the time to see how the Angel's have been. It's our monthly meeting time! First one of the year. I watched Lafayette drop a cigarette on the ground and take another out of his pocket while we stood in a long line in the dirt field.
There where many more Angels then Darksiders. Funny how Darksiders won the war at the end of the year for fifteen years straight when we are a quarter the size of the Angel's army.
Lafayette held out his cigarette towards me, and I quickly exhaled a bit of fire onto the tip. The cigarette ignited into blue, purple and pink, then the flame when out, leaving the cigarette burning. Lafayette brought it up to his mouth and started smoking it. He said my fire made it taste like cotton candy. He's such a dork.
The field we where in was not the same one from a while back. Well, it was I guess. The field wrapped around the entire school, which looked like a black version of Hogwarts sitting in a field of dark dirt. The field was surrounded by dead trees, very scary indeed.
We where at the front of the school, where some large metal doors opened into a courtyard. There was a path leading from the front door to the treeline, in the tree line was a little stone circle laid out on the dirt. I stood around as students, one by one, stepped into the circle and teleported away to some place.
I felt a hand on my head and knew it was either Lafayette or Thomas immediately, they loved teasing me about my height and treating me like a little child. And when I looked over my shoulder, I indeed saw Thomas.
I rolled my eyes at him. He made a whining puppy noise and I looked back at him to see him holding a cigarette out at me, his eyes those of a puppy. I smirked in amusement and then lit his cigarette for him.
"Thanks Ham," He said brightly.
They always called me Ham. Or Hammie, Hamchops, Pork, Hamilman. They make up new ones all the time and love to tease me constantly. A friendly tease that I appreciated, they where fun people to hang out with.
Suddenly it was my turn to step into the circle.
"Does Hammie want me to come with him to keep him safe from the big bad circle of rocks?" Lafayette teased.
I playfully smacked his hand and he put on a fake hurt look.
"He obviously does not trust you to go with him," Thomas sneered. "He needs me."
I rolled my eyes as they started fighting again. I loved watching them fight, they always snuck funny insults that nobody would use in an actually serious argument in there.
While they talked, I stepped inside the circle. The dirt inside the circle started to glow red, and then suddenly I wasn't looking at my friends, but at a field covered in carefully groomed grass. I glanced around me for a second, that was fast. I had expected to feel something- maybe heat, maybe pain. But no, nothing.
I stepped out of the circle of rocks, which was now covered in moss and surrounded by nasty pink flowers. I hadn't seen bright colors in so long, so my eyes where hurting.
I wondered how Thomas, with his extra sensitive eyesight, would handle this. With the bright sun, (At Darkside the sun was dark red and barely cast any light) The blue sky, (Darkside's sky was black) and the grass, I wouldn't be surprised if he fainted from the blindingness.
I decided to wait for him, because if he suddenly saw the colors his eyes would probably burst open. I might as well be there to laugh at him.
Although, in all honestly, I would probably laugh for a while then turn into a dragon and block out the shinning sun and bright blue sky with a black dragon wing.
When Thomas emerged out of the circle of rocks, as I expected, he started blinking and almost fell over. I laughed at him for a bit then walked up to him and grew a wing, shielding him from the sun. He blinked more and then finally adjusted his eyes, shooting me a thankful glance. After a couple minutes Thomas decided his eyes had adjusted and I shark my wing away.
Me, Lafayette and Thomas headed towards a gazebo in the middle of the field. There where sidewalks, trees with leaves (Which I think I saw Evan hugging one?) and benches, plus grass and lots of people.
When we approached the gazebo, I saw three girls and two boys there, talking to each other and drinking lemonade. Lemonade, wow. It's been a while! I've only been drinking brown water, which I was smart enough to figure out how to built a filter for, me and my friends get fresh water while everyone else suffered. Anyway, brown water, and Alcohol when I got the chance where the only things I drank.
"Hey," I barked at them.
All their faces turned towards me. Some faces lit up with fear, disbelief, happiness and some other crap I didn't care about. Feelings, ew.
"What?" A dude with long blond hair said. I recognized him....
"We're taking this gazebo," I hissed.
"What is a little kid like you gonna do?" The eldest looking girl asked.
"Angelica! Be nicer," A young girl in yellow elbowed Angelica.
Now I was remembering. The Schuyler sisters, Peggy, Eliza, Angelica. Hercules, and there was the other guy... John? I think so. My heart fluttered as I looked at him. What? No, stop it, heart! I pushed the feeling away.
"Get out of our gazebo," I demanded.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and I whipped around. Lafayette looked at me gently.
"You don't need to be mean," Lafayette said. I couldn't believe it. He was one of the meanest people at school!
I glared at him, what was happening? Was something taking him over?
"You need to be forceful," Lafayette finished. That sounded like the Laf I knew.
Lafayette walked through the small opening into the gazebo and grabbed the Hercules guy by the collar. Lafayette glared into his eyes, as if carefully thinking about his next move. I had learned that Lafayette's power was future sight, and sometimes he could get small not-painful visions of the future as well as the huge important painful ones. I guessed he was receiving a new small future right now.
Lafayette was complicated. He couldn't go into new spaces, and do a whole lot of new things and meet a whole lot of new people without hurting himself. He had most visions when he first meets someone, that someone triggers a new future that he sees. He usually takes things slowly so it all doesn't all hit him at once and cause him to pass out from the pain of all the visions.
Looks like he would risk his mental health for this gazebo though.
"Leave. Now," Lafayette hissed after a minute of silence.
Everyone in the gazebo scampered away. I cast a thankful look towards Laf, then entered the gazebo with Thomas. We sat down comfortably on the benches, and began people watching. I couldn't help but watch John. His beautiful blond hair flew behind his back in a ponytail. His sky blue eyes brimmed with laughter as he talked with his friends.
I flickered my eyes away from him, but they kept drifting over to him again. Stupid eyes. He looked so happy with his friends. I kind of wished I could be that happy, or make him laugh like that one day. No, stupid weird thoughts, get out of my head. I finally managed to move my eyes to my friends, and I was able to focus back on our conversation.
I couldn't help but take a glance at John every once in a while, though. When I caught his eye, butterflies flew around in my chest.
