Movement 18
Time elapsed forward painfully slow for (Y/n), but she waited. She was a patient girl, and there were moments where she went back to praying with the charm she had. It felt boring, and nauseating at the same time. Especially after the news Doctor Iwazumi disclosed to her just hours earlier. If she were to tell her fears right now to someone they would query her strange. How she feared for someone else rather than herself. She couldn't even rest herself, all she could do was just stare at a ceiling in a blank state. Part of her wished she had brought a distraction with her, perhaps her journal to write down her woes. An enlightenment to the stress maybe. But she just focused herself on another person, she wished for his safety.
And time just ticked so slowly for that, it just waned on her.
She sighed laying down in a lethargic manner, just thinking to herself. Of good times; they were always the best distraction to her, to lift her mood. She just thought of the times she spent together with him.
"(Y/n)." Until a familiar voice ruined it for her. She sat up with a deep scowl, once again glaring at the apathetic eyes of Iwazumi.
"You shouldn't let your worries get in the way of your own priorities. You should be resting." Iwazumi said as cold as ever; his words seemed to be formulated to sound sympathetic. But she knew he meant much more behind those words. The type of insult subtly hidden behind sympathy. She wouldn't argue with him, for it would be tiring, and just a waste of her energy.
"I do not comprehend why you care so much. About this boy..that you have know for less than a month." He spoke, like he was speaking out his thoughts. His statement made (Y/n) scoff at him.
"I don't think you would ever comprehend, since you have never grown close to anyone before." She said. Iwazumi could only glare, it pierced her.
"I feel you're more than just caring for him. You always have had this deep fear deep inside you. I've seen it, fear of people leaving per say if you wanted me to put it simply." He said. His voice was calculating, his words ever so blunt as they once again formed the hammer that slammed upon (Y/n)'s being. She clenched the sheets, not even trying to focus on his words. But it proved difficult. Why was he always like this? Playing with her feelings when she was vulnerable?
"Are you afraid he'll leave you alone? Alone to face your own hardships? Much like your parents did?" He asked further, (Y/n) felt the need to get up. She wanted to say something, do something to shut him up, but then her bruise started paining again. She whimpered crouching over.
"See how much hurt you are? Getting involved in his troubles made you that way."
"I'm this way cause I chose to." She said through grit teeth. She didn't think the words he spoke to her, but there's always that complicated part of the mind. The one that argued, but what if it's true. Iwazumi only closed his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Why do you always say these things?" She asked, her voice cracked again. She could feel her body burn everywhere.
"I'm only speaking harsh words of the truth. We all live in a harsh reality." He said bringing down his words, he sounded so spiteful, yet so truthful at the same time. (Y/n) took in pain filled breaths, she could hear the taps of his feet getting close to her bed. He used his two fingers to lift her by her chin, both of them looking dead center into each other's eyes. (Y/n) shivered, his eyes looked even more soulless up close.
"It's time to open your eyes (Y/n). And to say good bye to the imagination you want to have." He said, his words coming to a stop, bringing in a dead silence. (Y/n) brought her hands to his shoulders and then roughly shoved him with what strength she had. He nearly tripped on his feet, the move brought the slightest amount of shock to him.
"You always speak this garbage to me when I'm this exposed, and weak. To be honest, I let your words play around in my head when I was alone up until now. I made friends and explored more of the outside. I enjoyed it, and I grew to find more things. I found...love too. I want to enjoy it with what time I have." She said, and she smiled. Not to him, but to herself, to Licht, and to much more. There were obstacles, but she found it just another challenge for her to tackle.
"I don't know about you, but I'm taking a risk here." She brought out her words like she usually does. Iwazumi silently listened, and turned away. He didn't speak a word, and (Y/n) felt a little relieved for that. Once he left the room, her lips formed into a thin line. She sat around thinking, just thinking for quite a while. She could feel her vision blacken, until she laid down and finally laid down to rest. She had thoughts weighing in her mind as she tried to fall asleep.
Iwazumi observed her through the crack of the door, only to sigh tiredly. He closed the door leaving her, looking upon a contact in his phone.
"Reality is harsh, you will realize that someday." He said.
---------------------------------
Hours passed and (Y/n) still laid in her bed, occasionally shifting around attempting to rest.
Every second that ticked, it was nothing but a tranquil silence.
And just down the hall, there were faint clicks on someone's shoes tapping on the smooth tiles. A figure entered the room, heaving as he slumped in the doorway. Heavy pants and breaths escaped him, but he saw (Y/n) on the bed and his breath escaped him. He quietly creeped upon her just gazing at her serene expression, he saw her breathing slowly. His hand reached out and his fingers ghost little touches. Her eyes opened as she felt the presence, and her vision became blessed with the familiar shine of grey blue eyes.
Her breath caught in her throat, and she even rubbed her eyes. But there he stood right in front of her. The moment filled with an awkward silence.
"L-Licht-san.." She spoke, her voice quiet, and still in disbelief. He still looked wounded, but he stood there. Even he looked in disbelief and concern before relaxing.
"Welcome back." She spoke louder, grinning. The rims of her eyes shined with small tears, but she grinned wide at him.
"I've been waiting." Her eyes seemed to leak as two tears streamed down her face. Her desperate prayers and hopes seemed to have worked. Now she felt overjoyed. It seemed as though she had another emotional break. Licht froze, and he felt awkward again. But that didn't stop him from reaching out and wiping away the streaks on her face. He cupped her cheeks, holding her gently.
"(Y/n)..."
"I feared the worst for you." She continued to speak quietly.
"Please, I won't die that easily. I'm an angel remember?" He said seriously and she chuckled in response.
"I didn't know how much I missed hearing you say that." She said laughing some more.
Her joyful laughter Licht felt his chest become lighter. It almost caused him to lose his composure, he almost lost many chances to hear it again. His hands trembled, and they moved from her cheeks and wrapped behind her back. He pushed her body to his, and rested his head on shoulder. She got caught off guard momentarily, for there was no hesitation in his action. And she relaxed herself.
He felt her, she was here, she was safe. Nowhere near any moment terrified him more than when he saw her get hit.
She felt him, he was here embracing her, he was finally back. And nothing made her happier.
They were near each other, breathing, living, and finally relaxing after the whole ordeal. They just stayed that way for a while.
"Licht-san." (Y/n) called him, and he took it as a sign to release her. He did so looking at her, she seemed concerned.
"Are you still injured?" She asked. She took notice of the red streaks of blood on his face. He had come straight from the fight, he was exhausted, wounded, but still he wanted to see her at least once. She trailed her finger near the wound, he even winced a little. She sighed, but she smiled at him.
"Are you tired?" She asked. He opened his mouth, but he nodded. (Y/n) pursed her lips thinking, and a little blush came upon her face. She shifted in her bed, glancing at him every few seconds.
"T-Then did you want to rest h-here? She spoke, even sounding doubtful but still she said it. His own cheeks started to burn, but he only stared.
"I don't know.." He responded sounding hesitant. He didn't mean to stay long, he just needed to see her. But it was obvious she sounded serious. How long did she spend in this hospital room? He tapped his fingers on the bed sheets still trying to speak until he heard her laugh.
"You're right. It seems awkward. I'm sorry Licht-san. I think I just wanted to spend some time with you before we separate again. But you should probably take care of yourself."
Licht's head sprang up, "What?" He asked, referring to the words she spoke.
"You're referring to separate again right?" She seemed scared to speak, but she breathed out before she did.
"I think we need some time to recover. Licht-san, there are so many things I need and want to say. But I don't think now is the right time." She said. She seemed dispirited, but she contrasted that with a bright smile on her face. Licht could feel something ignite in him, some feeling saying he didn't want to separate. Ironically he felt a wave of greed. He couldn't attempt to argue as he just stared at her, even she seemed to dislike what she said. He sighed hanging his head and letting his hair cover his eyes.
"I agree. A lot of things happened." He said bluntly.
"I actually kind of want to hear. Oh..is Hyde-san here too?" She asked remembering the Servamp. Licht's eyebrows twitched, but he kept calm and pointed his thumb to the hallway.
"He's waiting out there." (Y/n) sweat dropped, Licht still looked a little pissed at the mention of his name.
"Oh. I'm glad he's alright too." She said, once again Licht's eyebrow twitched.
"Are you leaving now?" She asked watching as he stood up. But to her he shook his head.
"I'm..." He paused and color painted his cheeks again.
"I'll wait until you fall asleep."
She gave him a grateful look, lying on her side.
"Thank you. Also I'll say bye in advance." She said.
"Just do one thing for me. Don't say the words Good bye." She added before closing her eyes. Licht looked at her confused, but he let the question slide as he saw her relaxing. His fingers cautiously brushed her hair and rubbed her cheek. He could feel his heart race, and if her were honest, he would say he missed the feeling. He waited until he saw little breaths escape her. Slowly but surely, he leaned in, and his lips met tenderly with her forehead.
He stood up finally, and left her walking out of a peaceful air.
A/N: Ok from here the story is gonna go a harsh left away from canon. By that I mean the time spent before the Eves and Servamps get taken by the C3. I'm trying to balance the time so I would say Licht and Mahiru live together for some time.
