Foggy had called Sam right as she was dragging Matt up the stairs to her apartment, questioning why she had been gone for almost two hours when her office was a ten minute walk.
"Sorry, Foggy. I'm having some trouble getting back and just went home. I'll probably be at the office tomorrow." Sam lied as she turned to look at Matt, who went to lay down on her couch. "Don't! You'll get blood in my couch." She whisper-yelled at Matt, who froze and stood up straighter.
"What?" Foggy asked, confusion in his voice.
"Sorry. My cat uh... she stepped on a nail and I don't have tiny bandages. Gotta go!" Sam panicked, hanging up the phone before Foggy could ask more questions.
"You know it's a sun to lie, right?" Matt asked as Sam slowly turned to him.
"I'm sure God will forgive me since I'm clearly helping a hypocrite in pain and in desperate need of new clothes." She clapped back, tossing her phone on a chair.
"Well, I'm pretty sure you don't have mens clothes in your room."
"You'd be surprised at what section I shop in." Sam walked into her bedroom and towards her dresser, pulling open a drawer full of pajamas and grabbing a t-shirt that she mainly used as a night gown and a pair of pajama pants that also didn't fit her.
"You shouldn't have gone back." Matt stated from the living room, Sam pausing for a moment, trying to remember if she had told Matt she saw him last night. She couldn't.
Sam slowly walked out of her bedroom, glaring at Matt for a moment as the gears started to smoke in her head. She looked down at the clothes, then back to Matt, who was staring ahead.
Without another thought, she tossed the shirt at him, her eyes widening when he caught them.
"You mother— fucker!" Sam snapped, throwing the pants at Matt, to which he also caught. "Are you even blind?!"
"You could say that, I guess.." Matt sighed as Sam stared at him in an angered confusion.
"The fuck does that mean?! "You could say that" What were your— were your silences heightened so much that you basically can see but your still blind?!" Sam asked, flailing her arms everywhere as Matt slowly nodded.
"Actually uh... you got that pretty spot on." He muttered as Sam's arms dropped in disbelief.
"Does Foggy know?" She asked quietly, and Matt shook his head. Sam scoffed, shaking her head. For a moment, she thought she wasn't going to lash out on him for any of this. Fourth day since she had seen him again and she finds out he's basically an idiotic vigilante.
Actually... he is an idiotic vigilante.
"What else can you sense... other than the fact your able to catch things." Matt slowly sat down on the ground, shaking his head.
"I can smell the faint Dior perfume you put on two days ago... Hypnotic Poison." Sam's eyes widened again, crossing her arms slowly. "It was stronger when you first wore it... Subtle for everyone else, but it was stronger for me."
"You can smell things like that?" Sam's wings shifted nervously under her skin as she sat down on the couch.
"I can sense other things. I could taste the perfume in the air. Smell the shampoo in your hair... Hear something shifting just right under your skin." Sam felt like her heart had stopped. If his hearing was as good as hers was, then his senses had been maxed out.
"You... uh— you can... holy shit." Sam covered her mouth quickly as Matt tilted his head slightly, listening to the wings flutter anxiously.
"I can't sense what it is. But I can sense this electricity pulsing through your body..." Matt stated as he turned to look at Sam, staring across her legs as she looked down at him.
"I um... When I said that healing wasn't the only thing I did... I can control electricity, I guess. That's one of the reasons why I don't pay the electric bill. And then I have—" Sam paused for a moment. "What do you see?"
The question had been so sudden that it shocked Matt, and he frowned. Silence filled the apartment and he sighed quietly. "A world on fire." Was all he said.
"Okay... so... you can see... to an extent." Matt nodded as Sam rubbed her hands together, standing up. "Okay.. okay okay. Alright."
"What are you doing?" Matt stood up slowly as Sam unbuttoned her shirt, lowering it down past the scars on her back. She sighed quietly, shutting her eyes and squinted them in slight pain as the wings slowly crept out from them.
Matt had paused when he heard the wings flap, a gust of wing striking his face. "Wings?" He mumbled, stepping forward slightly. Sam turned her head to look at him, nerves coursing through her veins stronger than the electricity was.
Matt stepped closer as she looked towards the window again, shuddering a breath as she felt his hand graze over the feathers. A small smile crept onto his face as he hummed as the wing he had touched shook.
"They're soft." He commented quietly as Sam held back a smile by biting her lip, shaking her head and slowly turned to look at Matt, covering her chest as the wings stayed out.
"I was hoping you wouldn't be able to sense them. Honestly, I should have kept quiet about the fact i could do more than heal." Matt's eyes flickered around as if his mind was spinning, one question still clear in his mind, though he was so afraid to ask.
"Sam... when you said that you could heal all wounds... Do you mean you could heal one's that are permanent, too?" Her eyes widened for the third time as she stared into his eyes, watching as the sun shines on them, but his pupils didn't move.
"I've never tried... but I want to assume I can." Matt nodded slowly as if the question he was going to ask would have been denied. Going to turn away, Sam grabbed his arm gently, letting her wings sink back under her skin as she raised her shirt again. "You want to see if I could heal your eyes... don't you?"
Matt didn't move, staying silent for so long she was afraid that she had been wrong about what he wanted. Matt kicked his lips, shaking his head.
"No. I was just wondering." Sam knew it was a lie. But she also knew how long Matt had been blind. Maybe thinking that if she healed his eyes, his other senses would return to normal.
"Okay... I'll let you get changed. It's still early so.. maybe we could just—"
"I think I'm going to sleep. Last night was rough, was in and out from the blood loss, you know?" Matt stated as Sam nodded quickly and awkwardly.
"Yeah, yeah totally. I understand. You can change in my room. I can pull out the bed for you if you want."
"That would be nice.. Thanks."
