Sam's eyes scammed over the new case file she had, a hand clinging to her hair as her light was the only thing lighting her desk up.

Sam and Karen were suddenly startled as Foggy started horribly singing Pour, O Pour The Pirate Sherry.

"strong his arm and keen his scent..." Sam quietly sang along as Karen chuckled, clearing his throat.

"You know Sam and I are still here?" She called out as sudden clattering echoed in Foggy's office and he spiraled out, trying to seem like nothing happened through his closed door.

"Could you uh.. could you guys hear me, just now?" Foggy asked as Sam didn't turn away from her file, instead flipping one of the pages.

"You mean listening to you sing The Pirates of Penzance?" Sam pressed her lips together and shrugged. "Didn't hear a thing." Foggy cleared his throat awkwardly.

"Well, then you obviously didn't hear my amazing singing." Foggy grinned as Sam spun around in her chair, chuckling.

"By amazing singing, I hope you mean parakeet screeching." Foggy gave her a soft joking gasp, pressing a hand to his chest as Karen snickered.

"Karen, surely you won't let her call my talent a parakeet screech!" Foggy gestured to Sam as Karen slowly looked to the two, backing away slightly. Foggy dropped his arms. "Anyways... what are you guys still doing here?"

"I'm working on a private case. I'll probably be in court next week." Foggy's brows raised in curiosity before turning to Karen.

"Honestly, I could ask you the same thing." She smiled, packing her bag.

"Yes, but I am a partner at a prestigious law firm with very important documents needing to be documented, so we can start generating some revenue, while you two are..." Karen paused, Sam and her slowly looking at Foggy "... also very integral in your own special—" Karen smiled and nodded, silently daring Foggy to continue. "managers—" Foggy sighed, his hand, which was pointing at the two dropped back to his hip, and Karen laughed. "I dug myself in too deep and I can't climb out."

"You want help?" Sam offered as Foggy nodded quickly, and she clicked her tongue, standing up. "Sorry buddy. Can't." Sam started to pack her file into her bag, zipping it up.

"Shouldn't you two be out at a bar, anyways? Flapper or dancing..." Sam and Karen raised a brow at Foggy. "I don't know what kids do these days."

"We're the same age as you, Foggy." Karen laughed as Foggy frowned.

"So you're both saying I shouldn't be here, either?" Sam nodded.

"I'd tag along on bar hopping, but I got banned at like... two around here for starting a fight with a guy."

"Really? What he's do?" Foggy asked as Sam shrugged.

"He tried drugging a girls drink. I forced him to drink it then smashed the glass over his head." Karen clapped softly as Sam curtsied. "I do my best."

"No! You probably saved her life." Karen smiled as Sam scoffed, shaking her head.

"I'll see you guys tomorrow. If you see Matt, tell him to take double the shots for me. I want videos!" Sam pointed to the two as she started shutting the door before quickly making her way out of the building and headed home.

There was a different kind of excitement Samara got every time she let her wings free since she got used to them. If she were honest, she thought it was the wings giving her that excitement so she wouldn't shove them back inside of her.

It truly was like they had a mind of their own. Over the years she forced them to stay inside her, they had done their best to escape and be free. But she was persistent, made sure to wear a lot of stretchy clothing during those years, or lay on her back a lot.

But now, since her attack, it felt like they had given her a new life. And maybe they did. If she wanted to stick to this 'hero-vigilante' thing, then she might as well have her wings be apart of it.

But, if she wanted to be a hero, she couldn't take down some petty criminals. She had to go for the big guys. Problem was...

She didn't know who the big guys were.

Maybe if she knew more about Union Allied. That place always felt off.

Sam fixed her mask so it sat over her nose, pausing when she heard someone's heart beating fairly close, along with the smell of blood.

And there was a lot of blood.

But as Sam peeked her head over the building, she couldn't stop the two people dragging a hooded figure into the apartment building next to her.

The woman looked familiar. Maybe she had seen her before, the boy couldn't be older than 18.

There was a masked scent that Sam couldn't define. Yet it was a scent she knew so well.

She couldn't see the man's face, only his lower half. It looked too familiar. To similar to someone she knew.

And yet, she still didn't know who it was. For a woman who graduated near the top of her class, she really was a fucking idiot.

Short chapter tonight :)
