The Hermes Cabin
I opened the creaky, wooden door and stepped inside. "'Sup." one of the boys said looking. I waved at him, smiled, and said, "Hey." "Just take an empty bunk." he said. "This one empty?" I asked pointing at a bunk. "Yeah." he said. "'Kay." I said jumping onto the bunk. "By the way, I'm Connor, Connor Stoll." he introduced himself. "Amber Lawson." I said smiling. "Pretty name." another kid said. "Thanks." I said looking down and smirking. "You're welcome. I'm Travis, Connor's brother." Travis said. I yawned and slid under the blanket. "You're tired now?" Connor asked. "Dude," I said looking at him "First of all, I'm 9. Second of all, I fought some storm monster super early. Third of all, I flew all the way here from Las Vegas. Also, it's late." "Stay up a little longer so we can learn more about you, please?" Travis asked. Some people whined, others just ignored us. "No, now good night." I said glaring at Travis and Connor.
--Morning--
I woke up at 6 am and rubbed my eyes. Travis and Connor were joking quietly while everyone one else was sleeping. "Mornin', Bambi." Travis and Connor said in unison. "I'm not a deer." I said. "Well, Ambi isn't a nickname that suits you, so we tried Bambi." Travis said. "Whatever, you have clothes I can borrow?" I asked sitting up groggily. "Here!" Travis said tossing me a vibrant orange Camp Half-Blood shirt. "Thanks." I said. "No problem." he replied. I walked into the bathroom and changed my shirt and brushed my hair with my fingers. "This'll have to do for today." I mumbled to myself, throwing on my torn black sweater. Connor opened the door and we brushed past each other. I sat on my bunk and pulled the pocket-size journal out of my jeans with my pencil. I started doodling random designs. "What are you up to?" Travis asked raising his eyebrows "Writing in your diary?" he mocked as I threw the journal at his face. "Hey!" he whined, waking up a few cabin mates. He threw it back and without looking I caught it. I looked at him as his left eye twitched. "Will you guys shut up?" demanded a few others. "Yeah, Trav." I said emphasizing the nickname. He stuck his tongue out at me and I mocked his stupid face. I continued doodling and as time passed people were waking up and getting ready. A conch shell sounded, luckily everyone was ready because apparently that meant breakfast. We got in line and walked to the pavilion. We sat down and got served bacon & eggs. Everyone scraped a portion of their plate into the fire and said "Oh (insert god name), accept my offering." When I stepped up I scraped part of my food into the fire and said, "Oh Apollo, accept my offering." and sat back down. Travis and Connor joked around and I just ignored everyone until I heard Connor say a super cheesy pick-up line. "Are you Lucky Charms, 'cause you look magically delicious." I said smiling and everyone cracked up. "Are you a fart because you just blew me away." Connor said stupidly. "Are you a child of Apollo, because you're my little ray of sunshine." I added giggling. "Are you a daughter of Poseidon because you're sex sea." Connor said raising his eyebrows and everyone died. "Are you a beaver, 'cause da-am." I joked as everyone continued laughing. For the rest of breakfast Connor and I kept cracking cheesy pick-up lines as everyone shook with laughter. Not much eating was going on. When breakfast ended we all stood and went our separate ways.
