Grover Underwood
I sat at the Hades table alone, eating my delicious cheeseburger. "Nico left without you.", Will's words rang in my head. Abandoned by your own sibling, isn't that just the best.
A tear ran down my pale left cheek as I stared at my fries. I looked at the other tables with kids laughing and eating together. Siblings.
I stared at every table watching siblings bond. I missed Nico, but when he gets back I'm probably going to punch him in the face.
He left without me, guess I'm not going to the Underworld today. Awesome. Postponing meeting a possibly good father was one great hobby of mine.
"Hey." greeted a voice sounding like it was right of in front of me.
"Hi." I said bringing my attention forward.
"I'm Grover Underwood. A satyr." Grover said smiling at me.
"Amber Lawson." I introduced myself smiling.
"Are you the one everyone calls Bambi?" he asked curiously.
"Yeah. I'm Bambi." I said letting out a soft chuckle.
"I like that name. Bambi is one of my favorite movies." Grover smiled.
"Really?" I asked tilting my head to the left.
"Yeah. Nature, animals. I love it!" he replied smiling wider.
"Cool." I smiled.
"So, where's your brother?" he asked curiously propping his head with his hands.
"Oh, um..." I began, biting my lip "He, uh, just left for the-the Underworld."
"Oh." he said frowning.
I ate one of my fries.
"Want some?" I asked him pointing at my fries.
"Sure, thanks." he said picking up a fry and popping it in his mouth.
"No problem." I said eating another.
We both sat there eating my fries silently. The sound of siblings laughing, talking, bonding, it sounded miles away. As if the table magically relocated far away from the others.
I thought about Will. How could I confess my feelings to him? He was 3 years older than me. It was embarrassing, but I really like him.
Wait, I could ask Silena for advice. Her being the daughter of the goddess of love, Aphrodite, and all. I thought picking up a fry that felt like Grover picked it up too.
I looked up and me and Grover both held the last fry.
"Sorry, you can have it." I said slightly shaking my head and smiling downwards.
"Thanks." he commented popping it in his mouth.
"Your welcome." I mumbled thinking about Will.
I can ask Silena after lunch. I thought. I looked up after a few minutes to see kids getting up and walking away. I stood and waved at Grover.
"See ya." I said half-smiling.
"See ya." he repeated smiling and waving back at me.
I walked towards my friend, Silena Beauregard, daughter of Aphrodite.
