--------------------

Selene's phone rang on her nightside table. At first, she ignored it but it was like the more it rang the more it demanded to be heard. She grunted in annoyance before picking it up.
"It's time my white wolf." The voice of void Stiles said down the phone. Selene smiled to herself. Tonight was going to be chaos. The first of many nights of chaos. The Nogitsune and the White wolf were finally on the same page.

It wasn't long before her phone ran again. It was Scott this time. She waited a few seconds to ensure she didn't look too desperate to answer. She had to make this the performance of her life. She cleared her throat and tried her best to sound as if she had only just woken up.
"Scott?" She asked. "What's up?"
"Is Stiles with you?" He asked quickly. He was almost intangible.
"What? No. Why are you asking?" She ran her fingers through her hair. Despite the fact Scott couldn't see her, she needed to act the part in every way.
"He's missing."
"Missing? What? No. I think I would know if he was missing." Selene tried to brush off.
"That's what I thought too. But he just phoned me. He... He is somewhere. I don't know where. He doesn't know how he got there. His leg. He thinks he's hurt it."
"Are you having me on Scott? This isn't funny. I would know if he was hurt. I would feel it. Did you forget our minds are linked? Is this a sick joke?"
"Selene I'm serious. I wouldn't lie about this. He phoned me. He's really scared."

Selene stood up from the bed and paced the room.
"If what you are saying is true... Why can't I feel it? Is our link broken? Could this also be a side effect of the electrical shock? Scott. Where is he? I can't... I can't..." She began to breathe heavily.
"I know how you must feel," Scott reassured her. "But we need to keep calm. Especially you. If you lose control of your powers we might never find him."
"I'm coming over to yours. Let me know if he calls you again. Although. Why wouldn't he call me?"
"He was worried about his dad finding out. Maybe he was worried that you would worry too."
"We need to find him, Scott. Now." She hung up the phone. She got dressed quickly.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket. She reached for it. It was him.
"It has started." She said when she answered. "Scott called me and you should have heard his voice."
"Maybe you'll have to give me a taste of it later. I guess that's one of the perks of being linked to an empath. Pain and suffering amplified. Don't forget to show him your eyes."
"Oh. I won't."

-----------

The tires of her car screeched as she came to a stop outside Scott's house. The lights were on inside meaning everyone was awake. The front door swung open and Scott and Isaac flew out.
"So?" Selene asked climbing out of the car. "Did he call you again?"
"Just," Scott answered. "He thinks he's in a basement and he thinks someone is in there with him."
"Someone is in there with him? Like someone else is trapped too or... Someone took him?" She paused for a second. Her breathing was becoming heavier with anger. She began to lose control. Or at least pretend to lose control.

"If someone took him then I swear to..." She continued but, stopped when she saw Scott and Isaac looking at her horrified. "What? I'm sure there are more important things than to stare at me right now!"
"Selene. Your eyes." Scott said.
"Yeah. My eyes. I know I need to control my powers, don't want the empath to explode on you all. But cut me some slack. Stiles is missing Scott! Sorry if I can't control my eyes."
"No. It's not that." Scott shook his head while keeping eye contact. "It's the color of your eyes."
"Have they gone white?" Selene asked sheepishly. "I mean it would make sense. I'm feeling very emotional!" The longer she spoke the louder she got. Isaac looked away from her in fear he would get angry too. Selene did not have control.

"They aren't white," Scott answered. "Selene. They're blue." Selene's eyes widened. She bent over and looked at her own reflection in the car's mirrors and Scott was right. They were hard steel blue.
"That's not right. That's not right. I mean. No. No, it can't be. Maybe it's a trick of the light. They are white but they are reflecting something blue. Yeah, that's gotta be it."
"They look pretty blue to be." Isaac sarcastically joked. Selene growled at him in frustration.
"Guys. We don't have time for this." Scott interrupted them. "We need to find Stiles and then we will find out why Selene's eyes have changed color."
"Scott... We both know why a wolf's eyes change color." Selene said, her eyes watering. "I don't even remember." She looked down at the floor. Scott put a hand on her shoulder.
"We will figure this out together. Now, we find Stiles. Okay?" Selene nodded after giving a sniff.
"Okay."

--------

Selene drove them to Stiles' house where Lydia and Aiden were already there, in Stiles' bedroom.
"How did you know?" Scott asked in confusion. "Did he call you too?"
"I heard it," Lydia answered as if that was an easy answer.
"Don't ask." Aiden shook his head. "It gets more confusing when you ask."
"Not as confusing as this." Lydia turned and motioned to Stiles' bed. In the center of his bed, there was a pair of scissors stabbed deep into the mattress, and from the handles of the scissors were dozens and dozens of pieces of red thread leading to pictures and evidence all around his bedroom walls. "He uses red for unsolved cases."

Scott narrowed his eyes in confusion.
"Maybe he thinks he's part of an unsolved case?" Aiden suggested.
"Or is an unsolved case," Isaac added. The wolves looked at him unimpressed.
"Did you not notice him doing this?" Lydia asked Selene. Selene shook her head.
"There are a lot of things I haven't noticed recently."
"For example?"
"This." Selene flashed her eyes at Lydia.
"That doesn't make sense," Lydia said with a straight face. "I know when people die. Nobody has died recently and those eyes are pretty recent."
"That's what I said. But there is no other way. Is there?" They looked at Aiden.
"Why are you all looking at me?" He said lifting his hands.
"Because you are the only one in the room. Minus Selene who has blue eyes." Isaac said.
"No. As far as I am aware there is only one way to get blue eyes." They all looked disappointed.

"Hold on," Lydia said. "Selene's eyes have changed color and Stiles is missing?"
"I don't like how you worded that," Selene warned. Aiden took a protective step forward.
"I didn't mean it like that." Lydia rolled her eyes. "You should know where Stiles is. Your minds are linked and yet you don't know and now your eyes are blue. Something is wrong. Two impossible things in one night?"
"She has a point." Isaac agreed. "From what I've heard Stiles and Selene are two peas in a pod. I doubt just the electrical shock broke the bond and changed the color of her eyes." They all looked at him. "What?" He shrugged. "I pay attention." Lydia gave him the side-eye.

"So If Selene doesn't know where he is... Where do we start? Has he told you anything?"
"He said he was in an industrial basement somewhere. We came here to get a better scent."
"What else did he say?" Lydia prompted
"Something's wrong with his leg. It's bleeding and he's freezing." Scott answered. Selene put her fingers on her temples and rubbed them.
"We need to find him before I go crazy." She mumbled.
"What did his dad say?" Lydia asked.
"We kind of didn't tell him yet," Scott admitted.
"Stiles is bleeding and freezing and you didn't call his dad?"
"He made me promise not to!" Scott defended his decisions. "We can find him by scent. If Selene gets close enough maybe the bond will kick back in? If he's sleepwalking he couldn't have gotten far right?"
"You didn't notice his Jeep is gone too, did you? You promised you wouldn't call his dad. I didn't." Lydia pulled out her phone and began to press buttons.

"Wait. Lydia hold on. I can get more help. I can call Derek, Allison..."
"Everyone except the cops! Great idea"
"You guys do remember she gets these feelings when someone is about to die right?" Aiden pointed out. Selene jumped at him and pressed him against a wall. Her eyes were blue and wild.
"Say that again. I dare you!" She growled, her teeth bared. "He's not going to die. But if you keep talking you might." Aiden scoffed despite being pinned down.
"Are you sure you didn't kill someone already?" Selene raised an arm to hit Aiden when Scott grabbed her and pulled her back.
"Now is not the time!" Scott shouted. Selene was panting with anger. "The more we argue amongst ourselves. The longer it takes to find Stiles." Selene pulled herself free.
"I'm going outside. I'm not staying here with this dick."

She returned to the cold outside. Her phone buzzed in her pocket.
"How is it going?" Void's voice asked.
"Exactly how we were expecting. They are arguing amongst themselves. Your dad will soon be called."
"Good. We need as much panic as possible." Selene was silent for a moment. This didn't go unnoticed by Void. "What is it my wolf?"
"It's pretty cold. Are you sure you are safe?"
"In all my years I've never had anyone worry about me. I'll be fine once I am found."

Selene hung up as Scott and Isaac came out of the house.
"Who were you on the phone to?" Scott asked.
"No one. I just tried to get a hold of Stiles. No answer."
"I was sure I could hear you speaking."
"To myself no doubt. I'm a little stressed if you couldn't tell."
"Yeah. You need to keep calm. Control yourself."
"Scott. No offense. But if you tell me to control myself one more time..." She seethed. She blinked and let out a large breath. "Sorry." Scott nodded in understanding.
"We are going to the station to tell Noah in person."

---------

Noah was almost passed himself when he was told. But managed to keep it together in front of his deputies.
"If his Jeep is gone, that's where we start. Parrish, let's get an APB out on a blue 1980 CJ-5 Jeep. Cordova, I want a list of any kind of industrial basement or sub-level of any building that he could've gotten into while sleepwalking. It's the coldest night of the year so far. So If he's out there barefoot in just a T-shirt, he could already be hypothermic. Let's move fast. Let's think fast." The deputies went off doing each of the tasks they were asked to do. Noah pointed to the three wolves. "The three of you, come with me." He led them into his office and shut the door behind them.

"Okay. Is there anything you need to tell me that I can't tell anyone out there?" He said once no one could hear them. "I mean, can you not find him by scent like you did for Malia? I thought you Selene, you and him were you know..."
"Bonded?"
"Yes. Bonded. Can't you find him?"
"That's one of the problems. I can't." Noah's hands began to shake. His breaths were labored. He was scared. The best kind of emotional anguish was to put loved ones in danger. Void was going to feast for days off this. The idea of making him happy, if you can call it happiness, made Selene very happy indeed.

A knock on the door pulled Selene from her thoughts. It was one of the new deputies. Parrish was it?
"We found it Sir. We found the Jeep. It's at the hospital." Everyone shared a look. They got into their respective cars and drove to the hospital as quickly as possible.

--------

The police went to the basement while the wolves went to the roof. Derek had texted them asking them to meet him there. As soon as they opened the roof door access Selene fell to the floor gagging. Derek rushed over to her side and pulled her back to her feet.
"I thought you would have that reaction." He said ever so calmly.
"What is wrong with her?" Scott worryingly asked. Selene didn't feel good.
"Can you not smell that?" Derek replied. "The strong scent up here? Take a deep breath and tell me what you feel and who gave off this scent." Scott did as he was asked.
"Anxiety. Stress... Stiles"
"Now imagine you are an empathetic wolf who has Stiles as their bond mate."
"I don't feel good," Selene said.
"I know," Derek said stroking her hair. "Let's get you away from here."
"Wait." Scott stopped them. "If he's not here anymore then why was he up here, to begin with?" Derek shook his head.
"I don't know."

Derek led his sister back to his car. She was feeling woozy. Derek laid her down on the back seat. He pulled a blanket over her.
"Derek." She whispered. "We don't have time for this. We need to find Stiles."
"You are in no state to help. Your powers are too wild and you can't control them. At least not as much as you need to right now."
"People need to stop telling me I can't control my powers. That's all I've heard all night."
"Can you honestly tell me you can control them?" Derek was right. She couldn't control them. Yes right now she was technically a double agent but she's absorbed too much. All that anxiety Stiles must have felt. The real Stiles. God, what was she doing? Stiles was her bond mate, not the Void. But she couldn't stop thinking about Void. He was also her mate. The white wolf inside her pulled her closer to Void. She couldn't control the white wolf. Right now she was too tired to try.

There was something Derek wanted to tell Selene. He had spoken to their mother. Her claws survived the fire and they were able to communicate with her. She had given back Derek his memories of his sister. He had always felt a brotherly protectiveness over Selene but now he had his memories back, they were increased tenfold. He remembered how she was practically glued to his legs at all time as a child. He remembered the day she was born. He also remembered the day that their mother had taken his memories. How he had begged her not to. Derek wanted Selene to get her memories back too. He wanted her to finally talk to her mother as an adult. But right now wasn't the time. His feelings were confirmed when her light snores filled the car. She was exhausted.

While Selene was sleeping Stiles was found. Derek decided to let her sleep a little longer. It would be a few minutes before Stiles arrived at the hospital anyway. He got some jumper leads out of his car and decided to jump-start Stiles' Jeep since it was dead. He wasn't expecting Aiden to come up and talk to him.
"So, you think he was just sleepwalking? Or is there something more to it?" Aiden made casual conversation. Derek thought it was odd but continued with the conversation.

"In this town, there's always something more."
"What if I told you I know something more? I kind of overheard Well, I listened in on Stiles talking to Scott. How he thinks he was the one who wrote that message in the Chemistry room. The message telling Barrow to kill Kira." Derek scoffed and laughed.
"You think Stiles, skinny, defenseless, Stiles is the Nogitsune? A powerful, dark spirit?"
"I'm not the only one thinking it. I'm just the only one saying it. But that isn't it."
"What else is there?"
"Did Selene tell you about her eyes?"
"What about her eyes?"
"They are blue."
"Impossible." Derek brushed off. Aiden shook his head.

"I saw them myself less than an hour ago. Didn't you say the Nogitsune liked to play tricks? What if he changed the color of her eyes."
"How and why would he do that."
"Stiles' and Selene's minds are linked. I think the Nogitsune could easily wander in between them both. Selene kept saying she didn't feel her bond with Stiles tonight and yet when anyone mentioned him being hurt she went psycho. The bond was there."

"Yeah..." Derek agreed thinking about it, "When on the roof, she felt his pain and anxiety. She almost passed out." The pieces in his mind were beginning to fit together.
"She's been lying all night."
"Why would she lie about that? Why would she lie if she knew Stiles' life was in danger?"
"Unless she knew he wasn't in danger."
"None of this makes sense. If what you are saying is true then why would it pick Stiles? Why wouldn't it just stay in Selene's mind? Why wouldn't it pick someone bigger, stronger? Someone with..." He looked at the jump leads in his hands. "Someone with a little more power." Derek quickly turned to look at his sister who was no longer in the back of the car. She was gone.
"Where did she go?" Derek demanded. Aiden shook his head.
"I didn't see her leave."
"We need to find her and we need to get to the bottom of this now. We need to talk to Kira."

------------

Stiles sat in the hospital bed. He had his vitals checked over. He was physically fine. No damage had been done. But Noah and Melissa had the same thought. Noah had been keeping notes of Stiles' symptoms for a few weeks now and Melissa had done her research after Stiles had paid her a visit. They both came to the same conclusion. It was possible Stiles had developed the same dementia as his mother. Once all of his tests were done he was sent to the MRI to be tested. Scott never left his side.

All the adults left the room leaving just Scott and Stiles who didn't know what to say. Stiles after playing with his fingers finally spoke.
"You know what they're looking for, right? It's called frontotemporal dementia. Areas of your brain start to shrink. It's what my mother had. It's the only form of dementia that can hit teenagers. And there's no cure." Scott took a deep breath. He remembered what it was like but he could only imagine what was going through Stiles' head.
"Stiles, if you have it... we'll do something. I'll do something." They nodded at each other understanding. They pulled each other into a tearful hug.

When they pulled away they both wiped tears from their faces.
"Hey, er, where is Selene? I thought she would be here. She hasn't come to see me or called me. I'd like to speak to her before they..." He paused not wanting to say it again.
"She was a mess tonight man," Scott told him. "She was passed herself. Her emotions were all over the place. Her powers were going haywire and it didn't help that her eyes..." He paused not sure if he should tell Stiles right now. This was a pretty big deal for him. He didn't need the extra stress.

"What about her eyes? Did they go white? Did she turn back into the white wolf?"
"Nah dude, don't worry about it." Scott shrugged off. "Anyway, she got overwhelmed and Derek took her somewhere to calm down. I can call him if you like? Get him to bring her back."
"No." Stiles shook his head. "She's probably been through enough in one night. I'll talk to her tomorrow." Scott could tell he was disappointed. He was probably hoping Selene could calm his anxiety or just be with him during this possible life-changing test.
"Scott honey." Melissa's voice said over the microphone. "It's time." Scott left the MRI room.

------------

Scott sat in the waiting room waiting for the MRI to finish. Derek quickly ran up to him.
"Have you seen Selene?" He asked slightly out of breath. Scott looked confused.
"No. I thought she was with you."
"She ran off. Aiden and I were talking..." Derek sighed. "Aiden thinks that the Nogitsune is in Stiles' mind and has also taken over Selene too and when we looked over to where we thought Selene was. She wasn't there anymore."

"You think Stiles is the Nogitsune?"
"Crazy I know. But I spoke to Kira. Both Stiles and Selene were hit by that electricity at the power plant yes? Your minds were already weak to supernatural attacks and that electricity blew the doors right off their hinges. I thought why would it want Stiles but it's obvious. It doesn't want power. Its cunning, its smart, it makes calculated moves and it knows people's weaknesses. Stiles is all those things and who do we go to when we need someone to talk to. Stiles knows all of our weaknesses. Selene can manipulate emotions. She can turn those weaknesses into pain. Both of them are perfect hosts."

"Wait. The roof. We couldn't figure out why Stiles was up there. What if he was protecting us?" The two of them ran to the roof. There was a new scent. Selene had been up here recently but had gone again. They looked around for any clues to what either of them had been up to. That is when Scott saw it. On top of one of the electrical towers was a bag. Scott climbed up and pulled the bag closer to him. Inside was all sorts of electrical equipment including wire cutters.

------------

Stiles was in the MRI. The noise of the machine was becoming too much for him. He closed his eyes to try and shut it all out but when he opened them again it was like he was in a dream world. In front of him stood the man who was in his dream. The one who had made him answer all of those riddles. He had bandages around his head. The man who kept calling them 'we'. But he wasn't the only one there. Selene was there too. Only she wasn't herself. Her eyes were white and she had a crazed look in her eye.

"Selene?" He asked. She shook her head.
"Not anymore. I am in control now. She tried to fight but in the end, she wasn't strong enough to hold me back." Stiles looked at the man in anger.
"What did you do to her?" He accused. The man shook his head.
"It's not what I did to her. It's what did we do to her? Look at her Stiles. This was your doing. Her mother went through all that trouble to keep her powers secret and then you entered her life and woke the white wolf from her slumber. We only helped her find her way."
"I have done everything to help Selene fight. Everything."

"Are you sure? Because it was you who let me into your mind. Into her mind. Into our mind. We all now share the same soul. We are all bound. You, me, Selene, The white wolf. We are all one and the same. It's time to accept it. If you do. We might let them live."
"Who?"
"Your friends." Stiles looked off into the distance and saw his friends talking. "Your family. Everyone who ever meant anything to you. We are going to destroy all of them Stiles."

The man ran up to Stiles and shouted his unanswered riddle.
"Everyone has it, but no one can lose it. What is it?"
"I don't know."
"Everyone has it, but no one can lose it. What is it?"
"I don't know. Everyone has it, but no one can lose it. What is it?" The man began to unwrap the bandages from his head.
"I don't know..." Then it hit him. The most obvious answer. "A shadow." Stiles turned around to see the man's face now clearly uncovered. It was himself. The white wolf leant on his arm and pulled him closer. The sight made Stiles sick.

Stiles opened his eyes and he was back in the real world only he wasn't Stiles anymore. The void had once again taken over his body in the real world. Stiles was a fighter. He would give him that. He wasn't sure how long it would be before Stiles tried to fight him again so he needed to act fast. As planned the power went off in the hospital and Void took his chance to run.

People ran around the hospital screaming. None of them took any notice of Stiles or the girl who was by his side.
"Took you long enough." She remarked.
"Stiles wasn't as easy to corrupt unlike you my white wolf." They kissed as people continued to panic around them. The elevator near them opened and stood in it was a woman. Void recognized her but didn't fear her. He walked up to her confidently.
"You know me." The woman acknowledged. "Then you remember that I won't be deterred by your choice of host. Even if it's an innocent boy." Void narrowed his eyes.
"Are you threatening us?" The white wolf bared her teeth as her eyes continued to glow white. The Oni appeared next to the woman.
"Now I'm threatening you." She confirmed. Void scoffed. He could easily take them down alone. Now he had help.
"We're not really afraid of your little fireflies."
"If the oni can't defeat you, I know someone who will."
"No one can defeat us." The void laughed. "Together, the nogitsune and the white wolf are... invincible."
