Deaton sighed. His head was full of incoherent thoughts and he couldn't settle. Every thought in his head was backfiring and exploding. He recognized this feeling from 10 years ago. He knew exactly what the cause for this was. All those years ago, the woman he loved asked him to teach her child how to control her powers. 10 years later, this feeling was a remembrance that he had failed.

"Selene," He said holding up his hand slightly. "Please control your powers. I cannot concentrate." Selene looked up in alarm. Her pupils wide and her gaze frantic. Isaac looked the same. Selene and Isaac had just lost their alpha. Not physically of course. Derek was very much still alive. But mentally. Right now, they had no alpha and were considered lone wolves. Easy targets. Their emotions fed off each other. Isaac was on edge which Selene could feel and Selene herself was on edge and was unknowingly making Isaac worse. On and on it went in a giant loop and it didn't help that their loved ones were currently, for all rights and reasons, dead in bathtubs right in front of their eyes.

"Deaton." Selene whined. She couldn't help it. She sounded like a child. "I don't know how. I've not had that much training. I've done here and there with Derek, but I am far from mastering my powers." Deaton grabbed onto the girl's shoulders and forced her to look at him. She was looking at the man who knew everything. He was looking at the daughter of the woman he loved and swore to protect.

"Selene. Imagine a brick wall."
"I've tried." She replied exhausted.
"Then try again." She closed her eyes and built the wall brick by brick. Her eyes scrunched up, but she still had no control. "Selene, try harder." She imagined the brick going faster and faster... until. She heard everyone in the room give out a sigh. She opened her eyes and saw Lydia in the corner blinking rapidly and hitting her own ear as if she had trapped water.

"Good. That's good Selene. Now, focus on your own emotions. Don't take into account the others. Right now it's only you." Selene nodded. "Right now, things look bad, but they wont be bad forever. Nor will they be good forever. Think about the good in your life. Your powers are a two way street remember. You can make other people feel emotions but you can also feel theirs. Think back to happier times. How did the people around you feel? How did you feel?"

She thought about her father and how he would read to her. She thought about Stiles and how they would look at each other in class. She thought of Scott and how he was a far better wolf than anyone she had known and she was proud of him. She refocused on Deaton and saw a slight smile pulling at the edges of his mouth. Come to think of it. She had never seen him smile.

"That was good Selene. Use that technique. Separate yourself from others and find comfort in your memories. That is how you control your powers. Not here. Not now, but live in them." She sat back down and smiled to herself. Isaac scooted over and nudged her playfully with his arm.
"Since you have this sorted. Think you could pass on the happy?" She smiled at him and lent on his shoulder. They may not have an alpha. But they were still a pack. Still a family.
--------------

Hours had passed. The clock ticked on. The sun rose and the sun set. It was silent inside the vet's office until all three teens in the iced baths rose from the water gasping for air all at the same time. Selene, Isaac, Deaton and Lydia all rushed forward with towels and warm embraces. Scott spoke first.

"I saw it!" He shouted. "I know where it is!"
"We passed it!" Stiles added, keen to get this information out. "There's... There's a stump, this huge tree. Well, it's not huge anymore. It was cut down. But it's still big, though, very big." A used his arms to emphasize how big it is.
"It was the night we were looking for the body." Scott said. Selene looked to the floor for a moment. The body belonging to her sister Laura.

"Yeah, the same night you were bit by peter." Stiles clarified.
"I was there too!" Allison quickly jumped in. "In the car with my mother. We almost hit someone!"
"It was me. You almost hit me!" It was strange how their lives had intertwined before they had even knew it.
"We can find it." Scott said confidently. While Scott, Stiles and Allison had been talking they didn't notice the looks on the others faces.

"What?" Allison said confused. This was good news and they all looked upset.
"Allison..." Selene began, she wasn't sure how to form the words. Isaac stepped in for her.
"You guys were out a long time." Stiles locked eyes with his girlfriend. Pleading with his eyes that a long time actually meant no time at all.
"How long is a long time?"
"16 hours." Deaton replied in his calm voice. They looked shocked.
"We were in the water for 16 hours?" Scott couldn't believe it. It felt like mere seconds to them. Time flies when you're dead.
"And the full moon is in four hours." Deaton carried on.

Scott, Stiles and Allison needed to warm up. Their bodies resembled what was left of the ice cubes floating in the water. Selene ran her hands through Stiles hair with one hand while holding his hand with the other. It was like she was grooming him. As seen with wolves when they need to be brought back to health. They sat like this in the few seconds they had before they had to go back to reality. Scott announced he was leaving to see Deucalion.

"No." Stiles said standing up, abandoning his towel. His clothes were still damp. "No, dude, you are not going back with them." Scott sighed.
"I made a deal with Deucalion."
"Does anyone else think that sounds a lot like a deal with the devil?" Stiles asked the room. Isaac shrugged.
"Why does it matter, anyway?" Isaac asked.
"Because I still don't think that we can beat Jennifer without their help." Scott explained. Selene looked at the floor regretting already what she was about to say.

"I agree."
"What? Are you crazy? Are all wolves completely gone in their heads." Stiles threw his arms in the air and looked at his girlfriend.
"We need the power of an alpha. Derek... He gave his powers up just a few hours ago to save Cora. We no longer have an alpha on our side. We need to get one and if, quite possibly, the most powerful alpha is out there willing to help us, even with how evil he is. He is less evil then Jennifer who is..." she didn't finish. She was going to say, 'who is planning to kill your parents' but maybe she had pushed them too far. But Isaac knew her too well.

"Who is planning to kill their family." He finished for her. Now was not the time to beat around the bush and have false positives. "Can you not remember who Deucalion killed on the other hand? Boyd. He was our family. And you're just up to trusting him." Everyone could feel the tension between Isaac and Selene. They were ready to claw it out. Allison quickly stopped the fight by asking Deaton.

"They trust you more than anyone. Tell them he's wrong." Deaton squinted his eyes for a moment before replying.
"I'm not so sure they are. Circumstances like this sometimes require that you align yourself with people you'd normally consider enemies." Isaac scoffed
"So we're gonna trust him, the guy that calls himself death, destroyer of worlds? We're gonna trust that guy?"
"I wouldn't trust him, no," Deaton agreed. "But you could use him to your advantage. Deucalion may be the enemy, but he could also be the bait." They all looked at each other absorbing what Deaton had just said when they heard the front door open to the vet. It had a closed sign. So one should be coming in. Deaton went to the front in case it was just a customer who had missed the sign. It wasn't. It was Ethan.

"I'm looking for Lydia." He said in an uncertain voice. Lydia stood behind Deaton at the mention of her name. The others followed.
"What do you want?" she asked.
"I need your help." He admitted.
"With what?"
"My brother and Kali..." He paused. As if thinking about what he was saying one last time. "To stop them from killing Derek."
------------------

Lydia went with Ethan. Selene wanted to go and help save her brother but Ethan wasn't sure about her and felt safer just traveling with Derek. She wanted to go but causing a fight with Ethan now may stop him from helping them, so she dropped it. Allison, Isaac and Scott went to Chris' house to see if they could find any clues or a scent which could lead them exactly to where they were being kept.

Selene and Stiles went in the jeep to see if they could scout the area first.
"That's a nasty storm." Selene commented looking out the window. Dark clouds were gathering overhead, and lightning swam the sky. It was so unnatural. Stiles looked up for a moment and took a breath to calm himself. They needed to hurry. They drove off the marked road onto the dirt road.

"Stiles. You need to slow down. Even in this fog I can't see a thing!" Selene cautioned. Stiles ignored her.
"Slower Stiles, come on. I understand but if we die then who will save them?" A branch ripped off a tree and hit the windscreen of the car. Both of them jumped in shock. Stiles looked behind him to see if he could spot where the branch landed. That was a mistake. He crashed into a tree. Stiles was knocked out immediately but was kept in the car due to the steering wheel. Selene was pushed from her seat with such a force she was propelled from the car and landed on the forest floor. Her body, still alive, crumpled, unmoving.

She didn't know how long later she had woken up. The storm was still raging. Dirt and fog was in the air. She couldn't hear, see or smell anything. With a squint she looked around and in the distance she saw the jeeps lights. She pushed herself from the ground. Her body aching. It was getting closer to the ellipse. She wasn't healing as quickly as she should be. Each step was agony but she made it to the jeep.

"Stiles!" She shouted. She could barely hear herself over the wind. She grabbed the door and opened it. Stiles wasn't there but his blood was. "Stiles!" She shouted again. She looked around the car trying to find him, but she couldn't. She couldn't follow a scent. The wind had already blown it away. She didn't know which way to go. The trees were blowing in every direction. Stiles must have gotten lost trying to find her or he had gone to find his father without her. As long as he was safe it didn't matter what he did.

She chose a direction and walked in it. It felt like she was walking forever. Each step bringing more pain. Bones felt like they were broken. She couldn't see herself but she knew she was covered in blood and bruises. This must be Jennifer.

She came to a clearing. It was lighter than the forest. She looked up and saw that it was mere minutes until the ellipse. She saw an abandoned warehouse that she recognized from her memory. Somehow, above the wind she heard her brother grunt in pain. This was motivation enough to get her to the warehouse in time. No matter how much pain she was in. She climbed the hill. Grunts and howls of pain becoming louder the closer she got. She got to the doors just as Jennifer and Derek were thrown to the ground by Deucalion.

"Derek!" She shouted as loudly as she could. Deucalion didn't care that she was there. He grabbed Jennifer by the back throat and presented her to Scott. While he was distracted Selene rushed as quickly as she could to her brother.
"Derek are you okay?" she asked. He nodded but he was clearly in pain.
"You?" He asked noticing she was covered in blood and clearly gritting her teeth.
"I've been better." She admitted. It didn't matter how much pain either of them were in. They needed to stop Deucalion.

Deucalion's voice boomed over the top of them. He demanded to be heard.
"Kill her." He wanted Scott to kill Jennifer. "Do it." He roared loudly when Scott didn't do as he was asked. The roar was so loud all three of the wolves winced in pain. Scott fell to the ground. With the roar Scott and Selene who were both in their human form had both transformed. "Now kill her." Deucalion ordered again. "Your parents are dying. That storm you hear, she's burying them alive. It's her connection to the telluric currents. Kill her, and it ends."
"It won't end." Jennifer said terrified. "Not with me. He'll have you kill everyone you love. It's what he does." Deucalion ignored her.

"They're dying, Scott. Your mother and the parents of your best friends. Kill her now, and it's over. Become the alpha you're meant to be. Become a killer." That was the wrong thing to say. Scott doesn't believe in killing. He would never be a killer
"They're not dead yet." Scott growled.
"And who's going to save them," Deucalion taunted, "Your friends?" Scott looked at Selene before standing up and looking back at Deucalion.
"My pack."

Deucalion rushed forward and grabbed Scott by the neck and arm forcing his claws to get ready for an attack.
"Maybe. All you need. Is a helping hand." Deucalion said leading Scott forward towards Jennifer.
"I forgot to tell you something." Scott said. Deucalion stopped and looked at him. "Something Gerard said. Deucalion isn't always blind." He pulled out the Argent light grenades. Selene quickly covered her eyes with Derek following her lead. Scott let them go and Deucalion rushed backwards shielding his eyes from the painful light being emitted.

As the light cleared, it was time. The ellipse had started. Scott, Selene, Derek and even Deucalion, not only reverted back to their human forms. But had become fully human. It was a strange sensation. It was like the world had been turned down. Selene couldn't even feel her powers. All of them were completely and utterly human.

"The ellipse." Deucalion said in fear. "It's started." They looked around the room and Jennifer was nowhere to be seen. Through the fog a figure was coming closer. It was Jennifer. But she looked how she was supposed to look. No tricks. No illusions. Her face was scarred, and her eyes were full of anger. Derek pushed Selene behind him. He may not have powers but she was still his little sister.

With lightning behind her, Jenifer pushed Scott away from her with magic and she walked up to Deucalion who had no idea what was going on. In becoming human he had lost his wolf eyes. He was completely blind. He couldn't even use his other senses. She threw him to the ground before repeatedly smacking his head off the concrete floor. His screams filled the Wearhouse.

"Jennifer!" Derek shouted walking forward with one hand out. "He doesn't know!"
"Know what?" Jennifer shouted back in anger. She had waited for this moment for a long time.
"What you really look like. He knows the cost of bringing Kali into his pack, but... he's never seen the price you paid." Jennifer looked upset for a moment.
"You're right. No he hasn't." She bent down and placed a hand on Deucalion's eyes. Deucalion screamed out. As Jennifer puller her hand away, he opened his eyes. They weren't cloudy. They were fully healed. He could see.

"Turn to me." Jennifer ordered. He didn't. "TURN TO ME!" She screamed. He slowly turned his head and saw her face. Jennifer went to give him another blow but she fell back. Derek had anticipated this and caught her on his way down.
"What is this?" she asked. She sounded tired.
"Healing him made you weak, just like healing Cora did to me." Jennifer looked shocked. "You won't have your strength for at least a few minutes."
"Then you do it. Kill him." She begged.

Derek shook his head at the woman in his arms.
"No. Like my mother used to say, I'm a predator. I don't have to be a killer." Selene had never felt prouder of her brother than in this moment. Derek grabbed Jennifer by the throat, "Let them go." Jennifer fought back and even managed to get in a few punches. Selene tried to rush forward but was grabbed by Scott. Jennifer stopped. She gave him enough time to stand before fighting him again. It almost seemed like she was winning but it was pointless.

All the wolves in the room could already feel their powers coming back. Their senses coming back to full blast.
"Your 15 minutes are up." Derek said before pushing her away from him. Before any of the wolves could get to her, she created a circle of mountain ash around herself.
"Like I told you, Derek, either you or the parents. Well, I guess I'll just have to take them now. In a few minutes, they'll be dead, and I won't need a lunar ellipse, even to kill a demon wolf."
"You bitch!" Selene growled. Jennifer smirked. Scott took a step forward and pushed hard into the circle of mountain ash. Of course it stopped him like a brick wall. Jennifer's smirk turned into a laugh.

"Scott, you've tried this once before. I don't remember you having much success." She taunted shaking her head with a smirk. This didn't stop him. He placed his hand on the invisible barrier again and pushed. He growled and pushed. He managed to get one hand into the circle. The smile washed straight of Jennifer's face.

Deucalion sat up to watch. If he was thankful for anything that Jennifer had done, it was to give him his eyes back to witness what was about to happen. This would be a moment in history wolves would never forget.

Derek and Selene held hands. Scott's eyes grew more and more yellow as he used more of his strength. But they didn't stay yellow. They turned from a golden yellow to a magnificent red. He had reached his true potential. He was a true alpha. One foot in the circle. Two feet in the circle.

Once he was inside the ash blew in the wind and was no longer a protective circle. The force of the circle breaking pushed Jennifer backwards off her feet. She looked up at Scott in pure shock.
"How is this possible?" She asked.
"I'm an alpha now." Scott replied. He was calm. Everyone else was shocked. "Now whatever you are doing to cause the storm. Stop it or I'll kill you myself. I don't care what it does to the colour of my eyes." He didn't raise his voice. He didn't seem angry. He was like an adult talking to a child. Deucalion ran forward.
"It won't do anything to the colour of my eyes, allow me!" and with a simple flick of his claws he slashed her throat. Her face became her true face again and they all watched as she slowly bled out. The storm stopped.

Scott grabbed his phone and called Stiles.
"Scott?" Stiles' voice came through the phone. Selene breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hey are you okay?"
"Yeah, we're okay. Were all okay. What about you? Is Selene with you?"
"Yes were fine and yes she is." They heard Stiles let out a breath of happiness.
"Do you guys, you think, can you come get us? Bring a big ladder?" Scott chuckled and agreed before hanging up and turning to Deucalion.
"Our mother told us you were a man of vision once." Derek said. "We're letting you go because we hope you can be that man again."
"But if you're not," Scott added. "Then having your eyesight back won't matter, Because you'll never see us coming."
----------------

Selene sat on Stiles' bed opposite him. He flinched away from her.
"If you flinch one more time, I will pin you down." Selene threatened. Stiles smirked. "Oh no mister. Get that smirk off your face." Selene said grabbing his shirt and pulling him forward. She rubbed his head with an antiseptic wipe. He hissed in pain.

"Well, if you didn't crash..." she said. Stiles opened his mouth to reply but she cut him off. "I did warn you... and then you left me on the floor unconscious..." She was teasing, but Stiles did feel guilty about it. He did try to search for her but he needed to save his father and it was lucky he found them when he did because they were seconds from death.

"Actually... lets review this entire situation while we are here..." Selene said. She threw the wipe in the trash. "How many girls have you kissed in the past couple of months?"
"Only one important one." Stiles shut her up with a kiss. She couldn't complain. She crawled onto his knee and straddled him.

She was so happy he was alive, and she was so happy her powers were back so she could feel his mind. They were soul mates and the ellipse had taken that from them. What ever happened to her happened to him and vice versa. Stiles spun them around and held her to the bed. He was on top of her ensuring he didn't crush her with his weight.

They had made out plenty of times, but it had never felt like this. It was like their souls were trying to catch up for the lost time. They were alive and in love and right now, they couldn't be happier. The kiss only grew deeper and deeper until they couldn't become closer. They truly did share one mind. And it would be this moment they looked back on when times a head became a struggle for all things in Beacon Hills. Things never stayed good. Something always went wrong.
