Alex sat in the common room of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, a book propped open in his lap. It was late at night so pretty much everyone was asleep, but Alex had been having trouble sleeping recently.
Alex was about half way through his book when something out of the corner of his eye moved. He was certain he was the only one still awake. When he looked up someone was leaning against the door frame. She had (y/h/c) and beautiful (y/e/c) eyes. Her smile seemed to light up the dim room.
(y/n). The girl whom Alex loved most in the whole world. The girl he would do anything for. The girl that didn't make him feel alone.
"(y/n)..." Alex trailed off, letting the book slide from his hands and gently thump onto the floor. Alex's mind was racing with a million questions and his heart was beating three times faster.
"I thought that-" He started but stopped as (y/n) smiled and shook her head, walking over towards him.
"Don't think. Don't asks questions. Just come here." She smiled, her beautiful eyes sparkling as she held her arms out to him.
Alex didn't have to be told twice. He stood up and walked towards her, wrapping his arms around her, squeezing her thinking that if he let her go, she would disappear. Alex didn't think that his heart could take it if she left.
Alex felt his heart speed up once again as (y/n) wrapped her arms around him, rubbing gentle circles on his back and running through his hair. Alex sighed in contemptment, happy that she was in his arms again.
Alex pulled away slightly, his arms still securely wrapped around her, one of his hands coming up to cup her cheek as his thumb softly grazed her cheekbone.
"I love you." Alex whispered, resting his forehead on hers and looking into her eyes. She smiled and pressed her lips against his. Alex never wanted her to pull away as their lips moved at a slow pace. (y/n) pulled away, a smile danced against her lips.
"I love you too." She replied, in a soft, quiet whisper.
"Dance with me." She grinned as a smile formed onto Alex's face, not because of her request, but because whenever (y/n) smiled, Alex wanted to smile too, even if he was really upset, just seeing her smile could turn his whole outlook on life. Seeing her smile was his favourite thing.
"We don't have any music, my love." He answered but his hands slid down to her waist as he kissed her cheek, never wanting this moment to fade.
"Yes we do." (y/n) answered, placing her fingers to Alex's temples.
As soon as her fingers touched his temple a soft tune started to play. Nothing that Alex new but he slowly pulled (y/n)'s body closer towards his own and they started to dance together. Alex's hands softly placed on (y/n)'s waist and (y/n)'s hands were on his shoulder and the other was playing with the hair at the nape of his neck.
They stood in the middle of the room, not talking but just being happy to be with each other. Slowly swaying to the music that no one else could hear. (y/n) rested her head on Alex's shoulder as he hugged her tighter.
"I love you." (y/n) whispered, pulling away from Alex and kissing him. Pressing her soft lips against his own.
-
Alex's eyes fluttered open, the room was dark. A smile spread across his face as he rolled over, expecting to see her face sound asleep next to him. But he had no such luck. The bed was empty.
He was alone.
Alex sat up and wildly looked around the deserted room. His heart racing. His hopes high, hopping that she would walk through his door any moment now, for he could not bare to not wake up next to her. But then he remembered.
She was gone.
She was dead.
It was just a dream.
Alex looked over to his bedside table where a picture of himself and (y/n). Even thinking of her name brought him so much pain. Tears started to form in his eyes as he picked up the picture. His thumb brushed over her face. A surge of anger flooded him as he flung the picture across the room. Tears pouring down his face as sobs escaped him.
His knees brought up to his chest as he rocked back and forth sobbing madly. Images of himself and (y/n) filled his mind, her face shining and grinning at him as he continued to cry hysterically.
Alex didn't even notice that someone had walked into his room and sat on the bed next to him until he felt a hand on his shoulder. His head snapped up to be met with a red visor. Scott was sitting next to him, a frown pressed on his lips.
Scott didn't need to ask why Alex was crying, he already knew. He pulled his brother into a bone crushing hug as a couple of tears began to leak from his own eyes. Alex gripped his brothers t-shirt as he continued to sob.
"I miss her, Scotty. I miss her so bad." Alex cried, his body shaking from his sobs. Scott hugged him tighter.
"I know. I miss her too." Scott answered, crying too as he held his heart broken brother.
(y/n). The girl whom Alex loved most in the whole world. The girl he would do anything for. The girl that didn't make him feel alone. The girl who broke his heart when she departed this life.
