LET IT BE KNOW THAT NADINA ( oh for the love of god, call her Nina ) Kaur was, by all definitions, a fucking disaster. Most mornings she awoke to thick mascara stains ridden under her eyes, a faint taste of gin lingering in the back of her throat, as she tries her best to drown her headaches in a cup of black coffee. Because truth is that twenty-one years of her spectacularly mediocre life ── the first eighteen years spent making sure she's an absolutely perfect daughter in the eyes of her immigrant parents, and the last three having been spent pursuing a passionless major chosen by her father ── has left Nina as burnt out as the cigarette bud hanging from her lips.

Perhaps the only thing keeping her sane ── besides her dire need of that new Vivienne Westwood dress, even though her bank account had suffered enough ── was a small pub of the cornerstone of London's alleyways. There, in the midst of the light booze and pleasantries, as velvety yellow lights gleamed on her skin, and euphorically sublime music beamed lthrough the pub's cheery atmosphere; that's where Nina Kaur felt most alive.

After a ordeal gone peculiarly wrong, and with a need to savour the Saturday night, Mina finds themselves in the presence of an up-incoming band from London. And, though you didn't hear it from her, they're exceptionally talented ( not to mention their drummer has a kind of pretty smile, but you didn't hear that from her either. ) So when Nina finds herself whisked into a petty rivalry between the both of them, she has to try her best not to fall for his pair of angel eyes. Because, knowing him, he'd break her heart and she must pay the price.

       જ   Welcome to the newly revamped ANGEL EYES!! The Bohemian Rhapsody movie came out almost 4 years ago and it still has such a chokehold on me lol. This is a Roger Taylor x oc fic, but more specifically Ben Hardy!Roger Taylor rather than the actual drummer himself. This fic also follows the events of the movie rather than the irl timeline, as I'm aware there are many inaccuracies in the borhap biopic, but there are also events in this fic that I completely made up for the sake of the plot!!

That being said, this is a very oc-centric fic, and will focus on Nina's struggles as a first-gen college burnout. She's grown up with pretty strict parents who didn't let her go out as a teen in order to strive academically. So when she moved away to study in a city like London, that sudden lifestyle shift hit Nina dramatically, and as she begins to find herself, she has to decide between doing what she would make her parents proud and doing what she really loves. Very Turning Red and Everything, Everywhere, All At Once type of arc. Like if she were in 2022 she'd be in Mitski's top 0.001% listeners on Spotify wrapped.

If you remember the old plot of this fic no you don't <3 lol but there are a few notable deviations from the original plot. For one, the Melpomenes ( Nina's band ) no longer exist!! I decided to get rid of them because I wasn't too fond of the band vs. band plot anymore. However Jo, Zoe, and Mason and the remainder of the OG cast are still going to play important roles in the story. But instead of Nina being a bassist, she's a bartender at the pub that Queen played at during their early years. She's also got a flare for the fashion and beauty industry, something that will be pivotal to the plot later on.

Nina's character is largely inspired by Nana Osaki from Nana, Kat Stratford from 10 Things I Hate About You, Jackie Burkhart from That 70's Show, and Ellie Turner from Last Night In Soho. She and Roger have a flirty boy x annoyed girl type of dynamic with a bit of rivals to lovers as well, similar to couples such as Kate and Anthony from Bridgerton and Kat and Patrick from 10 Things I Hate About You.
