EVELYN HAD HOPED that once she put her trust in Pan that she'd never feel numb again. But that didn't happen.

The feeling was back. And she knew this time it would stick. She loved how when she arrived on the island it seemed like all of that pain and sadness disappeared. Like it never existed in the first place.

Now it was back. That pit in her chest that pulled on her arm and dragged her deeper and deeper into the darkness. The feeling of being cold, not being able to feel a single thing.

It was back.
