Chapter ~6~
TWO DAYS LATER:
Once upon a time, there was an angel
Lettuce sat at her keyboard, happily typing away.
She did shine, and she did shine, and she didn't shine
The angel flew through the skies, the wind whipping through her hair. She laughed in elation, making circles around the sky, coloring it a bright purple.
Somehow she got herself tangled
Schlatt stood at the edge of the void, watching his best friend fly through the air. A rare smile emerged on his face.
In his heart, and in his mind.
The angel swooped down and opened the barrier between the worlds with one motion, stepping into the void with a large smile.
"Wanna visit them?" she asked him.
She put down her wings and her halo
Schlatt grinned even wider. "Sure."
Fade to the ground, to the ground, to the ground.
With a flash of purple light, Schlatt found little fairy wings at the end of his back. He made a face.
She laughed. "You look ridiculous."
"You made them!"
She rolled her eyes. "Come on!"
They took flight.
Try as she might she couldn't dim her glow
They whirled through the air, watching each world play out.
In one, L'manburg had never existed. Tommy was playing cards with Wilbur, and it didn't seem like he was winning.
"NO FAIR!" Tommy yelled, slamming his cards onto the table. Wilbur burst into laughter.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
"Hey, Tommy!" the angel appeared in front of him, sitting on the wooden table.
"Wha- how did you-"
"Oh, hi Author!" Wilbur waved. "Wanna play cards with us?"
"Gambling? Hell yeah." Schlatt appeared, sitting next to the angel. She rolled her eyes. "A buck-fifty that I win the next game."
Wilbur glared at him. "Oh, you're on!"
With the writing on the walls of the sky
The angel giggled, disappearing back into the sky. She would leave Schlatt to his cards.
She stared up into the open sky as she flew on her back, squinting through the shimmering sun.
It was so wondrous how these worlds were all made from simple words, each crafted precisely to create living, breathing beings that didn't actually exist but were made real by the mind.
It was too good to be true, yet here they were.
There are thousands of reasons why
She arrived at L'manburg, now a bustling city full of curious tourists and comfortable citizens.
"Tubbo!"
President Tubbo looked up at her. "Oh, hello, Author!"
The angel wrapped him up into a hug and he squirmed, "hey!"
"How is my favorite president doing?"
"Quite good, actually!" he replied earnestly, his wide blue eyes gleaming. "George is suing Tommy for burning down his house, can you believe it? But it looks like we'll win the case anyway, with me backing Tommy and all."
The angel put her hand on Tubbo's shoulder. "You're an amazing president."
"But-" Tubbo's face fell. "What if it's unfair? George put a lot of effort into his house, and Tommy's gonna get no repercussions..."
"Hm... Maybe you can force Tommy to apologize. After all, an apology from the great Tommyinnit would mean more than any punishment you can give."
Tubbo's mouth dropped open. "Of course! I can't believe I didn't think about that! You know sometimes I..."
They spoke for an hour straight about Tubbo's exciting life as president, and the angel couldn't help but feel a little warm in her heart. After all, he deserved it. A presidency with little to no turmoil...
But the tangle had grown like a vine
She took off into the skies once more, embracing the wind rushing through her hair and clothes, creating ripples through her dress. She let out a long, contented sigh. She could never get tired of this.
And her heart knew it was time
"Ranboo!"
Ranboo looked up at her and waved. "Hello, Author! Welcome to Mizu!"
The angel giggled. "Oh, the construction is finished! It looks wonderful, Ranboo!"
"Thank you! People are piling in, can you believe it?!" Ranboo had almost a skip in his step as they walked through the winding glass halls of Mizu. "This is a dream come true."
"Well, it was a long journey to get here," said the angel. "You deserve it all."
The half-enderman nodded. "I know."
She picked up a spade and an apron
"Schlatt..."
The angel arrived to see a passed-out Schlatt sprawled on the middle of the floor, a bottle of liquor clenched in his hand.
She rolled her eyes fondly. Tommy was still yelling, and Wilbur was calmly explaining why he had won.
"Here to collect him?" Wilbur asked. "What a joke. He only had two bottles, and he calls himself a drinker?"
The angel laughed. "I don't see a drink in your hand, Wilbur."
"That's because I don't need one. Besides, I can't play without being sober."
"But Tommy's losing!"
"Yeah, Wilbur! Get drunk so I can win!"
Wilbur rolled his eyes, but grabbed a nearby bottle and chugged it.
With a smile, with a smile, with a smile.
She flew back to the void, closing the barrier as she landed back.
Almost immediately, Schlatt sat up. "What the f-"
"I heard you barely made it through two bottles," the angel teased. "What happened?"
Schlatt glared at her. "There are days I can do fifty, and days I can't even do one, okay?"
She raised up her hands in surrender. "Okay, okay!"
"Besides, that old jerk probably sabotaged the cards anyway. I couldn't win a single game."
"Maybe because you were drinking."
"No matter the reason, I lost thirty bucks, so don't you dare start-"
With every moment they were taken
The sun had set, and the angel stared out into the night sky.
Feeling fine, feeling fine, feeling fine
She took in a breath, the cold night air rushing through her lungs.
And she fell.
Dear heart, dear soul
Her wings caught her as she dropped, bringing her back up and sweeping over the clouds seamlessly. She stared up into the moon.
Dear memories, please remember me
She watched all of her creations, all of her characters laugh as they tucked each other into bed.
Made of light
Tommy looked up and saw her flying over his head. He waved, but she didn't seem to notice.
Fill the sky
The angel let her magic into the sky, illuminating each star with a beautiful purple glow.
I'm flying free
"Whoa..."
"Another wonderful show!"
"Take pictures, take pictures!"
With the writing on the walls of the sky
She smiled, waving at everyone who had turned to watch her stroll across the night sky.
There are thousands of reasons why
It was going to be alright, she decided.
But they tangled her glow like a vine
and her heart knew it was time
knew it was time.
