Bonding with Batter
After Ryuzaki left, I stayed in my seat unsure of what to do. I later became hungry and left the room and wound up in a kitchen. I decided to make cake because why not. I took out the eggs, flour, butter, etc. I hummed to myself which I was forbidden to do back in the Angel Realm.
"You're up late."
I stopped and saw Watari standing in the doorway. I set down everything and turned to him.
"I'm so sorry! I should have asked!"
"It's quite alright."
"R-really?" I asked.
He nodded.
"So, you also enjoy strawberry cake?"
"Yes, do you?"
"I enjoy it but I don't love it as much as Ryuzaki."
I nodded trying to pour the batter in the pan.
"Here."
Watari helped me hold the bowl and put it in the oven.
"Thank you Watari." I said.
"Of course Michu."
I smiled.
"You're not from here are you?"
I shook my head.
"Is it obvious?"
"A bit on the way you act around people."
I nodded.
"And I'm sure no one has white eyes here in Japan according to the records in the NPA."
"Do you promise not to say anything if I tell you something?"
"Of course."
"I know I'm a bit weird when it comes to talking to other people or answering questions."
"You only speak when spoken to."
I nod.
"I was always taught to do that as a child when I was born. The thing is though, I never had a family."
"Ryuzaki never had a family either."
I looked up at Watari then looked at the oven.
"I guess then we have one thing in common." I said.
I grabbed the pan and set it down immediately holding my hands as they turned a bright red against my pale skin.
"Rune, are you alright?"
Watari rushed towards we with an ice pack wrapped in a towel and held my hands against it.
"I'm okay."
"Watari, is there any ca--"
I turned to see Ryuzaki who stared directly at me.
"What are you doing?" he asked slightly annoyed.
"I...I was..."
I stared down at my hands that were now bleeding silver blood. Normal for angels, not humans. I ran out but Ryuzaki grabbed my waist and body flipped me. I sat up and rolled out of the way and ran. I went through corridors and hallways hearing footsteps behind me wherever I went. I knew the cameras were rolling but I didn't care. I had to get out of here. I couldn't take it anymore. I then felt a hand take my wrist and I was pushed into my room. I looked towards the door and saw Watari.
"Watari... I can explain... I--"
"So you're an angel?"
"How did you know?"
"As I young lad, I used to read books of fantasy and I was most fascinated by angels."
I nodded.
Silver blood still streamed down my hands. It stained my shirt and skirt, and dropped on the floor.
"It's alright dear, I won't tell Ryuzaki."
I looked at Watari.
"What?" I asked.
"It's okay, your secret is safe with me."
I smiled. I then hugged Watari. I then let go realizing what I did.
"I'm sorry!" I squeaked.
He gave me a small smile.
"That's quite alright Rune."
I nodded. He then handed me the cake.
"I frosted it so it's ready to eat."
"Thank you again Watari." I said.
"Of course dear, Ryuzaki will meet the National Police Agency or the NPA tomorrow. So get plenty of rest."
I nodded. Watari smiled and left. I sat down and put the cake on the table as my hands finally healed showing no signs of burns. I sighed and put a glass lid on the cake and flopped on my bed.
Little did I know what would happen when I met the NPA.
I then dozed off to sleep.
