Prince Julius - The sands of time
There is a shaded version of the previous image at the bottom of all this text. If you're just here for the art, feel free to jump down to the bottom of the page. Otherwise, have fun.
The three characters who's voices Match my idea for what Julius sounds like will be listed and I will explain how I found these, anything that ties it to Julius and my connection to the materiel. All as said.
Sir Galleth Cooper - Sly Cooper: Theives in Time - I was binging a compilation for the series cutscenes and story elements to get a better idea of the story and reacher the part where they rescue Sir Galleth. I already loved Yuri Lowenthal's work as Ben 10 and the other two character listed here that I immediately recognized his iconic voice - It's not tied to Julius's personality, but with how great of a character Sir Galleth is, I'm tempted to make him a theater kid - I never played the Sly Cooper series as a kid, I was more the Ratchet and Clank kid. But through accidentally holding down two specific buttons on my controller, I triggered the Sly 2 demo. It was the first time I ever saw Sly until years later when I played Playstation Move heroes, where I was introduced to Jak and Daxter. So yeah, got back into those stories and binged the series.
Matt Miller - Saints Row: the Third/ Saints Row IV - I had these games for a while and honestly was just vibing with Matt's voice. But when thinking about a voice for Julius and thinking about the third listed character, my brain cycled back to Matt - Since Matt is a Teenage Hacker Pro, he's cocky, arrogant and full of himself. It reminded me of how Romeo behaved in the game as an Admin. In the next game, Matt switches sides and is now a lot more mature. He's also a dorky fanboy that gets excited about his favourite series. Honestly, that reminded me of myself IRL- My dad used to play one of the previous games in this series when I was younger. He had to turn the voices off because this was where I learned to swear XD. He bought me the third game since I was more in it for the story and action, but the absurdity of the game was beyond anything 18+ I ever played. One mission in particular, I despise to this day for the simple concept of it. My favourite mission on the other hand, was facing off against Matt. Jumping around in the digital world to knock the king off of his throne. Probably why I loved the fourth game. It was the freedom of being in a world where the possibilities were endless. And well, my least favourite mission in THAT game, has Matt agree one hundred percent, never want to see that again. Best thing about that, there are characters in the series called Asha Odekar and Julius Little, LOL. But the main voice idea comes from the final listed character.
The Prince - Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - I was watching a compilation of Yuri Lowenthal's voice works and found out that this was one of his roles. - This is honestly the best voice match out of the three. Despite the Prince's behavior in the beginning, the way he grows and speaks makes me imagine Julius as the protagonist. He clearly shows a high admiration for his father much like how Julius looks up to Romeo. The prince holds loyalty towards those he cares for, just like Julius. And finally, the Prince's little moments of ranting to himself are so realistic. I imagine Julius rambles sometimes about how Endria and Asha tease him about things. "I swear, those two just don't know when to leave well enough alone. Just because their the 'oldest'." Then catch himself talking out loud. XD Me too, son, me too. XD - Again, a game my dad played in his youth, but never really finished. I got the game after seeing Lowenthal was the voice behind the Prince, and I had a BLAST. The second game, Warrior Within has a different voice, but in the third game, Two thrones, Lowenthal reprised his role as the Prince.
I was originally going to leave it without shading but then suddenly felt in the mood to shade it. It looks a lot more polished now.
