|Poppystar|
A string of curses unraveled from her tongue as the elderly she-cat was thrown to the ground. Slowly, she turned her head to face her attacker. The beast was a large, burly dog with fangs like ice. Every step the creature took rattled Poppystar to the core, but her pride forced her to stand. Her bones creaked with age. A low grumble escaped the dogs throat as he drew closer to her. She could feel it's hot breath against her face. Perhaps it was arrogance or perhaps it was her will to survive, but she lunged forward. Right into the dogs grasp. Like vines to a tree, the dog snapped his jaws around the calicos throat, rendering her unable to even let out a final, desperate yowl.
Poppystar released a bone-chilling scream as she awoke, the fresh-kill she had eaten threatening to come back up. Her ears were pounding so loudly she barely heard Tawnycry and Sandbird bounding in.
She felt, who she presumed to be her deputy Sandbird, press against her in an effort to calm her down.
The elderly calico heaved once more, resting her gray muzzle onto her paws. A wave of exhaustion draped over her as she met Sandbirds eyes.
"We thought you had died, Poppystar!" Sandbird wailed, her eyes glistening with tears yet to fall.
"What, trying to get rid of me?" Poppystar teased, a shaky grin tugging at her muzzle.
"Poppystar.." Sandbird said gently, looking towards Tawnycry for guidance.
"Poppystar, please. Take this seriously," Tawnycry huffed, trying to display a calm disposition, avoiding Poppystars eyes.
Poppystar sighed, stretching out her tensed muscles. Her claws digging deep into the moss, "Alright."
Throughout her explanation, Sandbirds expression twisted from frightened to mortified. She turned to Tawnycry for help but the she-cats unaltered expression turned her away.
"Poppystar. You're going to die"
(I haven't written in a while so sorry it's kinda messy)
