Chapter 4 - Let's sing!

https://youtu.be/UjrCrOGCT_E

AN: This chapter is most likely to be edited, I will add more songs. The first one was actually written by ALW and Tim Rice, so it makes perfect sense they would sing it... and probably the only thing that makes sense in this mess of a fanfiction.

"Alright, why don't we play something?" Ché picked his new guitar and began to tune it. "I don't have perfect pitch, Erik, can you help me?" The phantom finally stopped playing with his new toy – the phonograph – and noticed him. "What? Helping you? Playing some ridiculous tunes you call "music"? Never!" Ché just sighed. "Alright, dear, use the piano." Norma said gesturing towards the grand in the corner of the hall. "It would be great if someone played the piano as well..." Raoul suggested. "Don't look at me." Erik growled. "I didn't." Raoul stroke back. "Eva can play." Ché smirked. Eva backed away. "What? That was a long time ago, I was a teenager, and..." Christine and Meg began pleading her. "We want to hear you!" "Just something simple!" "I want to try one of the tango songs!" "Some carols that everyone knows!" Eva shot a glare at Ché that said "I hate you!" but he just grinned. "Okay, okay, but it's nothing extra, I learned it when I was still acting..." She shrugged and sat to the piano after her lover finished the tuning.

(The real Eva Perón could actually play, so I decided to use it here, and this might be the only thing her and the... creature in this fanfic have in common)

"No, you are not being serious right now." Erik stood up. "So I get it that you would rather play?" Eva asked. "No. No one is playing anything. Christine is the only one of you who can sing anyway." Christine rolled her eyes. "We're not in the Opera house, Erik. Stop ruining the fun." After that, he backed away. "Alright, amor, what's first?" Ché asked. Eva tried a few chords before she remembered a carol, everyone started singing. With the guitar playing, even some of the cats climbed up the grand piano and seemed to be using the music as a lullaby. Only Erik started complaining. "This is awful." Raoul turned towards him. "Sorry, no matter how hard you may believe it, you really don't have the copyright for playing all instruments and all the singing." Erik frowned at that, and Meg whispered something into Eva's ear. "Oh, you mean this..." She started playing the melody. The ballerina stood in the center, slightly nervous, and waited for the end of the introduction. "Watch me now, here I go, all I need's a little snow..." she started. "Oh gosh!" Joseph squealed and Ché joined in with his guitar. "Starts me off, sets the theme, helps me dream my Christmas dream.

Every year I dream it, hoping things will change,

An end to the crying, the shouting, the dying..." Raoul joined in, winking at Erik.

"And I hope you will dream it too!

It's Christmas,

Remember?

We've got to remember!" Meg stopped, unsure how it continues, so Ché started instead. "So, light the light, I'm home tonight,

I need you to warm me, to calm me, to love me!

To help me to dream my Christmas dream!" As the music continued, nobody noticed that Joseph poured the rest of the champagne in his glasses and started playing on them, creating a nice bell sound to it. Before Erik could complain about another "amateur" making music, the old cat jumped into his lap, and it seemed that she won't get up anytime soon. Eva started the second verse: "Crazy things, said an' done,

Every single day but one!

Every night should, I believe,

Be the same as Christmas Eve..." Antoinette continued: "Nights should all be silent,

Days should all slow down,

An end to the hurry, the noise and the worry!" Christine finally joined as well: "And I hope you believe that too!

It's Christmas, remember?" and Norma jumped in before she could finish it with a bit overdramatic tone:

"Does no one remember?" And in the end everyone (except Erik, of course, and Joseph, who was busy playing on the glasses) finished: "The whole world needs, a Christmas dream,

We need it to warm us, to calm us, to love us,

Tohelp us to dream our Christmas dream!"
