Chapter 13: Bad Boy Deuce
Andrea's POV:
The fight ended quickly when Deuce punched the silver haired delinquent in the cheek and kicked his red headed friend from him. They crawled away as they stared at Deuce in terror, almost in tears. "T-this guy us straight up mad! That wasn't just six hits! Liar!" The silver haired boy shouted, "Let's get the hell out of here! I'm sorry to all chickens!" The red-haired guy shouted as they got up and ran, wanting to get as far away from Deuce as possible. "Apologize 100 times next time you eat eggs! Dumbasses!" Deuce shouted. "Whoa, Deuce! Calm down! There's no need to trash talk 'em like that, dude!" I yelled as I approached him and put my hand on his shoulder as Grim shrieked in fear and hid behind my leg for safety. "You already got 'em! You don't have to beat 'em up into a pulp like that!" I said, Deuce was still enraged as he was breathing heavily from the fight. He must have come to his senses because when he looked back at me, the anger on his face disappeared at an instant, realizing what he's done.
He yelped as he took a step back away from me, looking at his hands in shame and guilt, looking completely ashamed of himself. Grim then climb on my shoulder and asked, "What's gotten into you!?" "Deuce, are you alright?" I asked, but Deuce didn't answer. Instead he gripped his head and stumbled back, hitting his back against the pedestal of Maleficent's statue. He slid down to the ground and hung his head low as he brought his knees to his chest. "I-I screwed up... I vowed that I'd definitely, definitely be an honor student this time!" He said, mostly at himself from the sound of it. "Eh?" Grim tilted his head, I went to sit next to him and wrapped my arm around him, putting my hand on his shoulder, Deuce look up at me and I gave him a small gentle smile, silently telling him that I'm listening and he'll tell me when he's ready. Deuce took a deep breath and began to explain, "In middle school, all I ever did was screw around... I constantly skipped school and spent all my time getting into fights. I disrespected all my Senseis, hung around sketchy upperclassmen and bleach my hair to death. Even running around the place while riding my magic wheel. I was a terrible person that went as far as use magic to lord over those who couldn't."
I look at Deuce in shock, he used to be a delinquent? "Just now you went full bad boy on those guys." Grim said, "I never would've guessed." I honestly never imagine Deuce being a delinquent after meeting him. "But then again... that would explain that switch personality you pulled on Ace back at the mine." I said, remembering what happened that night. "Then, one night... I saw my mom hiding away in tears as she called my grandma. "Was the way I raised him wrong? Would it have been better if he had both parents?"." I quietly gasps. Deuce never knew his father? Did his father left him and his mother for someone else, or died from some illness or an accident, or somethin'?
(A/N: At least that's what I thought when I first saw this on YouTube. But that's just me, so I just have to put this here.)
"But she was wrong. Mom never did anything wrong. It was all me!" Deuce continued, "So when the carriage from Night Raven College came to get me, my mom was so happy and I don't want to make her cry again. This time, I'm gonna be an honor student my mom can be proud of. ... Then I do this. Shit!" Deuce shouted as he slammed his fist against the concerte path. I sat there in silence. He's trying to be a better person by leaving his old life behind and start a new so he doesn't make his mom cry again. At least he's trying.... unlike me...
"But, y'know... Does being an honor student mean you have to grin and bear everything?" Grim asked, "Eh...?" Deuce look up at Grim who smirks, "Those delinquents deserved another 10 punches if you ask me!" His smirk fell. "You fought them off before I could though." "He's right." I said, "But overdoing it isn't good." "You guys..." Deuce said softly, "Even honor students gets mad too, Deuce. Back home, I've seen some honor students get mad at other students when they do something wrong or stupid, so you don't have to worry about not being able to become an honor student."
"Really?" I smiled at him, "Really." "... Heh heh. May those baby chicks rest in peace." Deuce chuckled softly, but I just sat there in silence. "Uhhh.. Deuce?" "Yeah?" Deuce looked at me, "I hate to break this to you dude, but, ummm... there won't be any chicks. These eggs are unfertilized, so they'll never matured. Sorry." Deuce looked like his world just shattered because he screamed at the top of his lungs so loud, it made all the birds in the area fly out of the trees, "EEEEEEEHHHHHH!!!???? YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING!?!?!?!?" I laughed after I covered my ears. What the hell makes him even think that? How the hell he ever thought of that is beyond me. "Well, anyway, we better go and get more eggs, come on." I grab Deuce and we both got up and we went back to Mr. S's shop. After we got the eggs, we head head straight back to the cafeteria's kitchen. "Oh, you're finally back. That sure took a while." Ace said as I put the new carton of eggs on the table. "Ehh, we kinda ran into some trouble." I look from the corner of my eye to look at Deuce, who's been quiet the whole time and his head was low, his hair was covering his eyes again. I look back at Ace and said, "But at least we got the stuff."
"Great. Let's finish this up." Trey said and we all got back to work on the tart. Trey and Deuce used their magic while Ace and I just did the old fashion way, as for Grim, he just sat there, no doubt ready to eat a piece of the tart once it's ready. Half the time passed as I floured the surface of the table and grab a rolling pin, I roll the dough, shaping it into the pan. "Either you have a talent for this or your aunt was a great teacher." Trey said next to me, I smiled a little. "I think it was my aunt being a great teacher. Like I said, she did teach me everything I know about baking." "You also mentioned she owns her own bakery, so it's no surprise. You must have a good relationship with her if you're giving her so much praise." I stopped rolling the dough when I heard that. "At least my relationship with her is better than with my parents." I mumbled, staring at the dough.

I was 11 years old when I was in the bakery with my aunt, she was teaching me how to bake a chocolate cake after I learn how to make chocolate chip cookies by myself. I just finished pouring the cake batter in the pan and my aunt just finished putting her oven gloves on and opening the oven. She grabs the pan and placed it inside the oven and closes it. "Now we let the cake bake for 30 to 35 minutes, and once that's done, we let it cool for 10 minutes. Then we decorate it with chocolate frosting, and we're done." Aunt Amy said as she took off her gloves. "Ok, Aunt Amy." I smiled at her and she smiles back at me.
"Andie...."
~~~
"Andie!"
I blink, snapping out of my thoughts, and turn to Trey, who looks at me with concern. "Are you alright?" He asked, "Y-yeah, sorry. Just got lost in my thoughts for a bit." I said, "Are you sure? You said something about your relationship with your aunt is better than with your parents." Trey asked. Oh shit, I said that out loud. "Look Trey, we need to work on the tart, so what's next?" I said, wanting to avoid the topic. Trey just stared at me, I know he wants to know, but I really don't want to talk about it. ".... Well, ok. Ummm... All that's left is to mix the marron cream into the tart." Trey explained as he moved his magic pen to create a perfect layer of cream around the tart. "Will we be able to eat after this!? I'm getting excited already~!" Grim said exuberantly as he took a icing piping bag, trying to ice the tart himself. "Alright, let's finish this in one fell swoop!" Ace exclaimed as he took his own icing bag and squirted the cream around the tart, but he did it a little too forcefully though.
"Don't lose focus now, got it?" Trey reminded them, "You got it!" Ace replied, "Yeah!" Grim cheered. It turned into competition between Ace and Grim as they spread the cream around the tart. Deuce, on the other hand, was falling back as he kept mumbling to himself. Ace, Trey and Grim looked at Deuce with confusion, wondering what he's talking about since all they can get out of him was chickens, eggs and falsehoods. They had no idea what he's talking about, but they went back to work on the tart. "Poor Deuce." I smiled amusingly at him. "Nyaha! What 'bout that~!" Grim laughed, "You guys are good. Keep up that pace." Trey encouraged, "Hehe, anything's easy-peasy for the future great magician, Grim!" He said boasting, "You get carried away too easily!" Ace said as Grim glares at him.
"Eggs don't... turn into chicks...?" Deuce mumbled, Ace turned towards him, "What have you been saying, man!?" He shouted with annoyance. After a while, we manage to fill the tart with cream. "Alright, perfect!" Ace cheered, "It looks so good~!" Grim said with a big, hungry smiled. "We would have gotten it faster if you two didn't turn putting the cream on the tart into a contest." I said as Ace and Grim frowned at me. "Thanks for the great work, guys. All that's left is to put some marron glacé on top." Trey said as he puts a bowl of sugary syrup and glaze coated chestnuts on the table. "Me, me, pick me! I'll do it!!" Grim said eagerly as he raised his paw in the air, he took one of the chestnuts in his paws, ready to finish the tart. "Don't mess it up, okay?" Ace warned, "Leave it to me! There we go!" Grim exclaimed confidently and he carefully placed the chestnuts on top of the cream, "As expected from me~! This is gonna be the best tart ever~!" He exclaimed happily.
