Kirk formed a fist as he watched the painting slam shut. He grinned his teeth against one another, unaware of the stares he was receiving, "Is something wrong, Kirk?" Abraxas' voice sliced through the tension and stung his heart as if he were getting reprimanded. Kirk's pulse quickened within him as he turned to face his master.
"I thought I would receive favor with Omega!" Kirk shouted. He watched as Abraxas stared coldly at him. His countenance is unchanged. "I have worked for you, used your gifts for how long now. Proven myself over and over again, even putting my life on the line for that jerk!" Kirk breathed in and out through his nose as if trying to breathe fire. Tears began forming in his eyes as he hit the floor, grabbing his head. "How many years have been wasted that should be overlooked?" He mumbled.
A strong hand pressed against his shoulder. "Kirk, Omega's favor should mean nothing to you now. I know you and Eldwin are going through a rough patch, but Omega has orders from the creator to do his divine will. I will tell you the same thing I have told everybody I ever commanded." Kirk lifted his head and watched as his master threw his hand out and motioned to the room around them. "Omega and the Creator have a purpose for your life that I cannot even see without permission. You must do your best and wait for Omega to give you your gift and, if you are lucky, even your destiny."
Kirk rose to his feet and whipped his eyes. He was right; he had been burring the emotions of his past, and now being overlooked again was too much to bear. He pulled his shoulders back and glanced around the room. On the far end of the entrance, he saw the other half of the room Eldwin hadn't. They were all empty mannequins and weaponry racks that had yet to be filled. Friends Abraxas hadn't met yet. A smirk crept into his mouth. One of the greatest honors his master could bestow was a place in his Hall of Fallen Warriors.
With a sigh, Kirk faced his master, "So what do we do now?" He watched as Abraxas also turned to face the army, deep in thought. He couldn't tell what was happening in his mind, but that didn't matter. With Eldwin being here, the only sure thing would be to go to Anderil and see if he could be trained; that's what he was doing in Abraxas' position.
"Well, first thing, I want to go to Osaze and leave Sari there so she doesn't have to continue the journey with us. Her abilities with a gun will come in handy, not to mention I want her safe and out of harm's way." Abraxas sighed as well, and Kirk followed his gaze toward the door. "It's been a while since he banged any of my pots together to get my attention." His teacher said absentmindedly. "I wonder if she's sewing...." His voice trailed off as a gunshot rang through the air, followed by a female screaming.
"Rax? Where's Eldwin?" She stammered as she reloaded her ammo. Kirk gritted his teeth and stepped toward Abraxas. He had already taken down the stone Golmn at Yikiata's Musem. He could handle these things. Kirk stopped as a circle appeared on the floor. It turned yellow as the light shot toward the ceiling, pushing Kirk out with such force that he flew back against the wall and slid down: Abraxas, Sari, and the stone monsters were all trapped inside the circles.
Kirk felt Abraxas give him such a stare that bore into his very soul. Kirk thought they were safe; he thought nothing could harm them while they were in Abraxas' protection, but he was wrong. He let down his guard, and now the only thing that matters is getting Eldwin out of there. He rose to his feet and returned to the entrance, glancing ever so often at the painting of Omega. Kirk silently prayed that Eldwin would come out soon so they could make a break for it.
